Los Angeles LGBT Center reviews
37This place is so patient unfriendly. I have recieved mail for assistive services there which was mysteriously lost; prescriptions withheld for weeks due to clerical errors on their behalf, and any hope for decent phone assistance is futile. I am in the process of moving all of my services to Apla or AHF. I hate this place.
A place of hope for the LGBTQI community is LA. They have different programs for every group of the LGBT people. I loved the creative projects and programs of the center. They have some amazing information leaflets and booklets to educate yourself.
The center is a pioneer and is an example of how an LGBT center could serve the youth.
They are good at giving penicillin. BUT, THE STAFF TREATS GAY MEN AS CRIMINALS REGARDING STD'S. They also sponsor and host no community based Groups for support and awareness of LGBT discrimination and Targeting so we can come together as a community. This is the foundation of what started the LGBT community center. What interests are controlling the LGBT center now?
Amazing caring staff and efficient service. I had the best blood needle extraction of muh life. Ricky was very understanding and friendly.
My meds are always ready on time. My primary care physician is amazing. My therapist is equally amazing. I have a great network of professional support and feel that even with such a high volume, the entire operation of the Center is incredibly astute and accommodating. Thank you guys!
Fast and friendly service, provide great services for lgbt community. Doctors and nurses are simply the best
Offers a variety of mental and physical health services as well as general things got LGBT persons
Great team working there, the only real hassle is the length you can be on hold for, it can get annoying and really takes away from the whole, “Your call is important to us”.
You would think that it would be priority to send patients prescriptions to their pharmacy on time but it’s not. This is the worst clinic to go to stay away you have to call back to back take time out of your work schedule and lose money to run in behind them to make sure they are doing their jobs. They don’t care at all. After calling ten times I finally came up here to have my prescriptions put in my hand since they were to incompetent to send them to the pharmacy. I asked to speak with a supervisor that never came out. I waited for over an hour to get prescriptions that were perscribed to me over a week ago. Worst experience of my life! I will never come back to this clinic again in my life.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center sent me a survey about my experience, in other words why am I jumping ship to another provider to escape from medical service so negligent that it has already put my life in danger multiple times?
Here's what I originally wrote before finding out that I had broken the character limit.
There are too many problems too list, but I will try my best.
The doctors have little knowledge or do not care about practicing informed consent. They act as if they are always tired, high, and think trans people only need medical care for trans things.
While patients are accepted at their word about what their gender is, the same standard is not applied to other cultural minorities such as disabilities. Double standards are discrimination.
There is only one social worker, and she is so incompetent that she never accomplished one thing across several appointments. She just kept making a bunch of empty promises and then never following up.
Medications are never received on-time, causing patients to miss doses.
Patients are not given unlimited or automatically restoring refills. Instead they must get the doctor's permission every time. This causes an inherently coercive relationship and makes freely given, informed consent impossible.
Patients' rights to respect, non-discrimination and freedom from threats are ignored.
A security guard made a threat on my life in retaliation to my assertion of the aforementioned rights.
A Nurse Practitioner repeatedly misgendered me after being corrected, refused to provide service and called my gender identity a mental disorder. I filed a compliant and no one ever followed up with me.
Someone keeps posting hate speech against people of size on the "nutrition" board.
I repeatedly asked various staff for a sign language interpreter, another way to make appointments besides phone calls, and checked myself into appointments as Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Nothing was done with this information. That is discrimination and a violation of federal law.
The bathrooms are gendered. Are you kidding me?
Been going there for 3 years. ALWAYS been treated with respect and kindness. The staff is knowledgeable and patient. I wouldn't be treated anywhere else.
Everyone is very very friendly and helpful. I felt truly respected and everyone tried to help me as much as possible
This is the LARGEST LGBTQ ORG in THE US. They have groups from over the world to tour facilities for this reason. If U sign up 4 an HMO, the ACA, "ObamaCares", Medi-Cal, Medicaid.this place is great! I kno straight couples who go there. They have the premiere HIV/AIDS Clinic that's also doing research, an STD Clinic, in-house lab & pharmacy (OFFERS BEST DISCOUNT PRESCRIPT PRICES AROUND!), counseling & psych svcs, social & referral srvs, Transgen, residential youth svcs. 1 prob: it's a TON of pprwrk 2 sign up for the 1st time & it could take couple wks, but so worth it. GR8 staff, AMAZING DRs, free prkng in lot North of bldg with validtn, Single Sex, Co-ed or Omni-Sex (?) bathrooms on some floors, so double check 1st ;-) Just south of Hollywood Blvd between Highland & Vine (both Red Line Metro stations.
The worst place on earth, staff is inefficient and seem to be very typical of what the seriotipical homosexual better than you attitude makes me sad as a homosexual. Also 4th floor smells like meth.
There's a different doctor with every visit. If you have a UTI and are in dire need of antibiotics, forget it. If you don't know your doctor (good luck) the operator won't page the on call MD. If you know the doctor's name, it turns out to be a PA, or someone who rotated in and is gone now.
Such a valuable resource for the community. The staff is nice, helpful and resourceful. They treated me with respect and made me feel comfortable.
By far the most welcome place i ever been too, specially for health issues. Love them all. Thanks lgbt
