Monterey Bay Kayaks - Elkhorn Slough reviews
26One of the worst experiences not just kayaking ever! Upon signing the paper, we were sent to pick up our equipment where we waited another 30 minutes the rest of the group join us love you were not even signed for! Then we had to wait for guide who was just a kid who have no clue what he’s talking about to finish up his stories that nobody, cared for. They told us how not to approach the wildlife and avoid it it’s just common sense for everyone but OK. So after almost an hour of them wasting our time to pay for, they finally gave us kayak and let us go. The cherry on top was been one of the guides, Who was leading two canoes Followed and harassed sleeping see lions on the beach. That was explicitly explained to us not to do! Anyway I will never go back again and are plenty of other companies that you can go with. This is just my five cents and you can take it or leave it but consider yourself warned!
Friendly staff that helped get my wife and I all set quick and easy for a day of fun and adventure!
Easy and fun. Quickly got on the water and saw plenty of wildlife including seals and sea otters! Even babies that were so cute.
The price surprised me at first (35 dollars), however after they showed us all the gear we got and it fully equipped us for the best trip possible. Wetsuit, lifejacket, Splash resistant jacket, kayak, and paddle. They gave us a good route to go without being too strict and it was definitely the best kayak place in Monterey bay!
We rented kayaks for our Scout group. Everyone had a great time. This is a trip we have in our rotation every couple of years as it's one of the favorites.
We had a funfilled Mom/Son day enjoying the beautiful views and marine life!
The Sup rental staff were very friendly and knowledgeable:) A big Thanks to them!
Really helpful staff, good kit, and good shop. Guaranteed to see sea otters, they swim in the bay opposite and up and down the river. Also loads of harbour seals and pelicans. If you visit the marsh next door there are plovers, curlew, stilts egrets and godwits.
I took the 1.5-hour kayak tour yesterday with MBK around Elkhorn Slough. The guide Jeffrey at MBK was super awesome! He was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the ocean animals we encountered on the tour. After the guided tour, we had the option to take a kayak out on our own to explore more free of charge, that was a pleasant surprise. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly as well. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely go back again in the future.
We did a guided tour of the slough with Monterey Bay Kayaks. Very friendly staff, and there is a comfortable area with changing rooms to put on wetsuits. The guides were very knowledgeable and really good about keeping proper distance from the wildlife. So many animals in the slough; it truly is a wildlife haven.
Awesome kayaking company! They provide amazing kayaking tours daily in the Elkhorn Slough! Tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable
Jesse was an amazing guide, he is really helpful and informative. We got to see wildlife in a way that was spectacular.
These guys have it down. Great training from great guides. Any equipment you may need is included, including wetsuits if you feel it's necessary. Everyone here is terrific and helpful. The cleanup station is well setup, too. It's fun, relaxing, and an enjoyable experience for all.
Austin was a great guide. Even though it was overcast we still had a great time and saw plenty of otters, seals, Ray's, and birds.
Monetrey Bay Kayaks has a dedicated and thoughtful staff throughout that makes the time and effort to insure visitors have the best experience possible providing wet suits and parkas. The guides are knowledgable and make sure you have all the info you need to enjoy your sea adventure.
Did the night bioluminescence kayak trip, thought I was going to be cold but they give you enough layers and once you get moving you'll be just fine. The guides were very helpful and friendly. The bioluminescences wasn't as strong as in your ad picture but it was still cool to see:)
You can rent kayaks and lunch right off the shore, also you can bring your own and of for parking.
If you love seeing wildlife at your own pace in a reasonably accessible environment this is for you. We paddled a mile or two and saw a large variety of birds close up, and a dozen or so Sea Otters from mere meters away, rafting up and playing. Great staff and light canoes made an affordable and memorable afternoon.
So many sea otters! They provide everything you need and our guide John was friendly and informative. Highlight of our trip to Monterey.
Clean equipment and great instructors before sending us out into the water. I brought my 11 year old and 14 year old siblings and they had a great time!
Guides were passionate, somewhat knowledgeable, but overall great at what they do. The check in process was a bit clunky, but overall very solid place, with a young energetic staff.
