Runway, Playa Vista CA

I've been at Runway for almost a year and I couldn't be happier. The amenities are pristine, the staff are so attentive/provide top-notch service (shoutout to Keri, Natasha, and Jonathan), maintenance responds quickly, and the walkable shops and beautiful parks make living here a dream. I am so happy here. Would highly recommend Runway!

I have loved my experience living at Runway thus far. The location of the property is a dream with everything you need right outside your doorstep. Management at Runway is top notch. I must give a special shout-out to Keri who always goes above and beyond for me - including making sure certain packages are refrigerated while I am away. She is very prompt in her communication and always on top of her game! The whole crew always takes care of any issue/request - whether it be maintenance, packages, or needing to print something ASAP. Thank you to everyone who makes living at Runway a dream!

Moved to Runway a few months ago, and so far love living here! When we toured we got to see every layout available, as well as the various buildings + amenities. Staff and residents are all super friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile wherever I go! Apartment complex is organized, clean and well kept. Management is quick to attend to our needs. Amenities are a major plus of these apartments, gym is always clean, and lounge areas are very nice. Location is amazing, very walkable. Very dog friendly! I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone!

Edit: After this review, Runway secured some palettes to lift the dumpsters and reduce the noise that they make. In combination with a little light white noise, the early morning dumpster rollout is no longer a concern for us. Thanks gang.

TLDR: At the price, I expect far better. Look nearby for a cheaper option, look for a top floor unit, make sure to avoid a unit over trash collection points.

What kind of living experience would you expect at $4,000 a month?

Is it being woken up by maintenance staff at 7am 3x a week because building management has chosen to spend half an hour rolling five heavy trash dumpsters out below your window for the 9: 30-11am trash collection time? Somehow this problem didn’t exist last year and just started a few months ago- both the loud rolling and the 7am timing- and management seems to say a change is impossible but we’re welcome to pay them $1k to transfer to a more expensive unit! Thanks guys!

Is it a small 1 bedroom apartment?
Is it hearing your neighbors above and to the sides often through the thin walls/floors/ceilings?
Is it hot water going out every month or so?
Is it various amenities being out of order occasionally?
Is it your apartment being actually dirty and needing you to mop it when you move in?

Look, all of these problems (except the first) are normal apartment problems, but we’re not paying a normal apartment price.

It isn’t all bad. Neighbors are pleasant, location is gorgeous, building is safe and clean, Playa Vista is a lovely place, the farmer’s market is delightful. But almost everything good isn’t because of the apartment complex itself, and almost everything frustrating IS.

I expected better at the price point, especially given Bozzuto’s self advertising as the US’s best building management company.

I'm a new renter at the Runway apartments in Playa Vista and love my new place! The Leasing staff have been awesome, in particular Jonathan Rivera who helped me find the perfect unit in the complex that met my needs and he has also answered my many follow-up questions (I haven't rented in over 20 years so there's a lot for me to get up to speed on). And on days he was not in the office, he made sure I knew who would be able to assist me. The community is great, really nice amenities and everything is right here so I don't have to get in my car if I don't want to. For example, the Whole Foods is right across from the back entrance to the building! Finally, also important, it feels really safe.

Thank you for Jonathan Rivera who helped me with every details of the lease contract process. I would love to give more than 5 stars to him if possible:)

Keri and the management team have been so great to work with! We have loved living at the property and we just renewed our lease again. The management team always go above and beyond at every opportunity. They make the experience living here amazing. We would highly recommend the team to anyone looking to rent. The management have made the customer experience great. It is great to have such a kind and attentive team. 5 stars!

Thanks to Jonathan, my move to Runway was an exceptional experience. He answered all my questions from the very beginning and gave me invaluable information regarding the area, the locations of the apartments, as well as which unit would be the best fit for me. He also helped make sure all my repair requests were met. One of the reasons I chose to live at Runway was because the leasing office was very professional and knowledgeable. I have lived in several apartment complexes throughout LA and I have to say Runway has been the most enjoyable and comfortable thus far.

From the moment we toured everything has been amazing and easy. Jonathan gave us an initial tour when we stopped by and he remembered exactly what we were looking for each time. He went above and beyond in letting us know when something of interest came on the market. It took a month or so but it was worth the wait. When we found a room that matched what we wanted, Jonathan worked with us to make sure we were able to lock in the room by the time we were ready to move in. From there, he took care of everything else for us and made sure the room was spotless by the time we moved in. We couldn't have asked for a better agent to help us find out new home. It's only been a week but my husband and I can already tell we're going to stay here for as long as we can. It's a great feeling knowing that we can walk right outside and be steps away from restaurants, shops, and bars. We've walked our dog at 9-10pm and it feels completely safe. Despite being such a lively area, the sound insulation is great as we can't hear much outside once we're inside the apartment. The amenities here are also top notch and are well worth the money to live here. All in all don't think twice if you're on the fence. Runway is truly an amazing place to live in Playa Vista.

Living here is like living on vacation. Jonathan was extremely helpful in helping us find the right apartment layout. If you're looking to live here, I would highly recommend working with Jonathan to look for your new apartment. Bonus points for him also being just such a nice guy! Overall this is a great place to live with a fantastic staff here on site.

We went on an apartment tour with Kevin Santos and it was one of the best experiences. He made sure we had all the details and answers to all our questions. During the tour, he showed us all the facilities of the buildings and explained the design very well. Overall, Kevin was a very kind host.

Jonathan was great! We had an amazing walkthrough and were very happy with the living possibilities at Runway. Thank you for providing us a great and honest experience.

The location and amenities are great, but the management is lacking. Let me go into more detail.

Pros:
• The weather is nice (although sometimes cold)
• The location is excellent; whole foods, my health care, and many other places are a 2 min walk away from me.
• Amenities are great; pool, lounge, a grass patch to relax at, free coffee and hot chocolate machine, and more in every building.
• You feel secure
• Management hosts events like goat yoga and silent discos
• Building looks nice
• Packages come into a secure separate room, eliminating package theft (even though packages are hard to find, and delivery men don’t know how to use the system. So instead of a picture of the box, I get a picture of someone’s legs)

Cons:
• Management stops caring about you the second you enter into a contract
• If you live with a neighbor above you, you will hear them. If you live on the top floor, you will hear the loud, old, and energy inefficient (I checked) ACs, and you hear it so much that you WILL wake up at the night
• Management refuses reasonable accommodations (like having a service dog without fees) even though it violates the fair housing act
• lack of built-in light in apartments, but some lamps.
• Management charges you for things you don’t even have (like cable, even though you don’t own a TV and have never signed up for it)
• The appliances are old and loud
• I had to remind management to clean trash around the pool which they didn’t clean for 3 weeks
• Fake grass for dogs outside smells, is not hygienic, and is not cleaned

This is a terrible place to live. I moved into an apartment on the top floor specifically because I didn't want to hear noise from upstairs neighbors and instead of that I'm listening to the noise of the AC machine 24h a day. It's even worse at night because the vibration from the noise reverbs into the bed frame, making it even harder to sleep. I've reached out to management several times and their response is: "well, you have an AC machine above you, so it's going to make noise. " What kind of answer is that? Especially in a place where rent is $4000+. It's unlivable in here, the constant noise makes it impossible to live. On top of this, when I moved in, one of the sinks were clogged, I submitted a repair request and, one week later, I'm still waiting for someone to come fix it or at least contact me. Location is great but that's pretty much it, management won't do anything after you sign the lease agreement.

Exceeds all expectations in this luxurious living community. This place has Beautiful apartments, great amenities, and fun activities. Shoutout to Dan from maintenance, he’s very attentive and gets the job done right

There is a reason I’m returning to Runway for another lease term!

Extreme problems day of move in, loud noises day and night (from within the complex) and they will SPAM your email EVERY WEEK begging for a 5-star review. They have contracts with 3+ different apps that you have to download for useless features, instead of using a singular app for all features. Packages, visitors, maintenance and rent payment are all handled through different apps, imagine. They have ONE package room shared between 2 buildings and couriers place your package wherever they please. There is no order and you better allot a minimum of 30 minutes to find your package every time. Maintenance staff is great and saves the place from being a total dump. Location is obviously great and the units are well kept with decent appliances and amenities. Internet and cable is a mandatory flat charge included with rent, you cannot opt out of it or choose a different provider. At a rent price-point of $5,000 you would expect MUCH better.

The only issue with living here is the gigantic blaring billboard blinding everyone in the middle of the community

I recently moved into Runway and have been loving it! The location is perfect and so close to everything that I need. Adelaide was fantastic during the leasing process. I definitely recommend moving here!

I apartment searched while traveling abroad and took a chance on Runway without a tour. Somehow Keri miraculously was able to convey very comprehensive details of Runway, providing videos, pictures, Q&As, making my signing the lease a comfortable decision. It has been a week since I moved in. The Runway management has been fantastic and the community feels vibrant. So far I am a happy resident. Thanks Keri for being good at what you do!
