Tahoe Valley Campground reviews
28Very cozy & clean! We are enjoying our stay and will probably be checking in here next time.
This camp ground is a great family destination for South Lake Tahoe. Kids have a great time. Bathrooms and camp sites are clean. Fun little places to explore around the grounds.
We stayed for 2 nights n it was great experience. We booked a cabin even only two of us an our baby.
Resolvable problems unresolvable because staff is inaccessible. Very, very frustrating on a cold winter day.
Later, the second day here in the park:
OK, Kimmy just redeemed the park's rating from a 1 to a 4, in my mind. Based on Kimmy alone, it would be a 5, but the park's phone set up is so frustrating, I just can't give the park in general a 5. Besides, I'm still fuming at the frustrations. The recorded message is from September 25, when there was fire danger. It takes 2 full minutes of being routed through the menu before being able to leave a message, including a loop that makes it seem like it isn't possible to leave a message. Does management care?
The restrooms that are open are warm and very clean.
Kimmy is patient, kind, superb.
Staff is extremely nice, we had a wonderful experience there. The campground is clean, quiet and spacious (it looks like a state park campground). Perfect location to visit Nevada side and CA side of Lake Tahoe. Highly recommend.
Amazing location and HUGE! My boys and I enjoyed the expansive bike rides around the entire park! And the amenities inside were a huge hit too. My oldest would have spent his entire trip at the basketball court if we'd have let him. Live music and karaoke night was cool but wish they'd have cut off karaoke at 9 like the live band. Staff was friendly and helpful and i appreciated not getting the hard sale to "join the club". Will definetly be back!
Great campground. Felt like I was in a forest the whole time. Lots of fun events at the campground as well.
BEWARE! I would give a Negative 5 stars if possible. Do not pay for your site until you go look at the site you are given, contract states no refunds once paid. We booked a premium site (most expensive) 6 months in advance and it was literally a dirt parking lot with less than 6 feet in between sites. The neighboring sites sewer connection was 2 ft from our eating table. No fire pits or BBQ in most sites. Staff said "most were stolen and they are in the process of installing them", whatever that means. We didn’t see any being installed. We didn’t feel safe here. They have no security or oversight of who came in and out of the campground. NO car tags so they know who belong and who don’t, but they make sure to let you know they aren’t responsible for stolen items. They even tell you to put away propane at night…You can tell the laundry room door had been kicked in too. Clearly they have a theft issue and aren’t taking steps to insure their guest’s safety. They have many notices regarding a bear problem but they don’t provide bear bins to store food like all other reputable campgrounds. The neighboring camper said they had bears go through their stuff 2 nights in a row! The dumpsters were overflowing with garbage so its almost like they are inviting them to rummage. They have 439 camp sites and only 3 bathrooms were open with 2 toilets each. Most were broken. The Wi-Fi doesn’t exist as advertised, you have to pay through 3rd party and it doesn’t even work at campground. The provided Laundry room requires you to use an App, another camper said the app wouldn’t work with machines after she loaded $25 onto the newly created account. It appears that everything in this facility is 3rd party operated so they don’t have to take responsibility for anything. Anytime we went into the office that was the normal response given to everyone that was angry or had issues. The grounds were dirty, unsafe, and not a RV Resort as they imply. We left and went to a different campground. I would avoid this place at all costs! Its so bad I would seriously question the good reviews posted. I’m pretty sure they are fake and made by the employees. If you notice they all state staff was great or helpful, Total BS!
Crowded small campsites. Showers and bathrooms on my side closed for construction at the same time.at peak season.not to good.i got tired of looking for them.pooped in parking lot.
Extremly packed, unfriendly staff, electronic payment doesn't work, no grill or fireplace and not even a tree at premium site. Toilet locks are broken and are flooded. The worst site we have been so far.
My husband has been staying at this campground since he was a kid, nice campground they have a playground for kids they have breakfast in the weekends (you pay a small fee)
I was not expecting to have to rent a fire pit. Nor did I know it was offered until it was too late. Nice place for kiddos and campers with trailers. Packed in like sardines but still, clean and can be enjoyabled.
I called and made reservations on their 1-800 number at $63 is a night and was told I was going to get a 20% military discount when I arrived. After arrival. They convinced me that my 20% discount was already in the fees that they charged when they were not and I had to wait until I got home to confirm to get my money back.
Squished sites but lots of trees and they have everything a traveler could need. Bring a bike and explore the area.
The staff make a big deal about the local bear population but then do not provided bear lockers or a place to wash dishes. Well surprise surprise a bear walked in to the camp around 0330. There’s really no excuse for not having these basic measures in place in bear country in order to encourage good behaviour. Showers are decent but there’s no fire ring in the tent sites. The Camp E area appears to be the only location to be somewhat spacious but don’t expect State/National Park style camping.
Lots of trees lots of activities, large park close to the lake. Would recommend for extended stay.
Easy to find and roomy lots for your rig. Clean showers and bathrooms and extremely convenient store for treats and anything you might have forgotten to pack.
Staff is friendly but honestly this campground is too big and crowded. Some of the guests are really loud.
The lake is walk or a short drive away from the campsite. We loved the golden horse shoe hunt in the mornings!
The camp site was clean and kept up.
Although the spaces are small, if you have a big rig.
There is a little confusion going on between the office and rangers.
Also if you want to receive packages, beware they may charge you any where from $1-$5 dollars. You never know.
