Ambar Capitol Hill reviews
25Wow! For the dinner menu. It's $35 for as many small plates as you want to order. I LOVED the steak tartare and the sourdough bread balls. I left stuffed and very happy.
The service took forever and the food was very underwhelming, dry and tasted terrible. Definitely not worth the price and not sure why people hyped this place up. It’s literally just for the ambiance. Brunch food was terrible.
I went for diner with friends and we picked the $35 menu, the good thing is that the service is really quick, all the small dishes arrived steadily and the waiters are nice. BUT, food wise, I was disappointed because the majority of the food was very salty and pretty greasy in my opinion. However, it is a good address to try at least once
Our server was great. I we let him just pick things for us to share and everything he picked was delicious and a nice variety of things. I think my favorite was this fried chicken with sort of sweet relish on top! Can't remember the name but it was so yummy!
We did the unlimited food/drink option. All the food (except for the meatballs) was pretty great. Service was splendid. They kept food coming and cleared our table consistently. The sparkling wine was good. The pre-made old fashioned was bad, though.
This is my go to on Capitol Hill. Awesome food, amazing service, and great drinks. If you go for happy hour or for the Ambar experience, I honestly think it is the best value for the money (accounting for quality of food, drinks, service, and atmosphere/ambience) in all of DC.
They have great selection of balkan cuisine and spirits that you couldn't get anywhere else. This is a unique place that executes well.
My husband and I traveled to D. C.for our honeymoon. We made a reservation at Ambar for dinner tonight and it was incredible! The food is delicious and service is top notch. Christian (the manager) made us feel extra special during our visit. We will 110% come back again next time we’re in D. C.
This place is great! The service is good, the food is better!
Would definitely recommend this place.
I loved Ambar Restaurant, from the decoration and atmosphere of the place to the attentions of my waiter Braza. They have an extensive variety of dishes. We were a table of 6,4 adults and two children. Our waiter did his best to accommodate us and let us have a good evening. We opted to make unlimited tapas and drinks. Our waiter prepared excellent mojitos. I am very picky with mojitos and I have to accept that one of the best in DC.
Service was a LITTLE rough, although that might be because we had a training waiter. I also feel like if you get the non-alcoholic all you can eat brunch, it should come with coffee, but the food is delicious, and it's a fun atmosphere.
Great bar/restaurant. Great staff, minimal wait time and. THE BALKAN EXPERIENCE IS A MUST! You’ll thank me later
Bottom line: food was good, experience ruined by incredibly rude and aggressive waitress and painfully slow service. Will not return.
This place not only is great for the ambience but has an amazing pre fixe menu for a very reasonable price. The drinks were fabulous, the food was great and service was phenomenal. Highly recommend this place to the foodies out there!
I'm currently making this review whilst 6 mimosas in to my bottomless mimosas. The drinks floweth over. The Balkan Experience for $39 is well worth what you pay. Unlimited dishes and drinks for 2 hours? There just really isn't much that can be topped. The food is flavorful sample dishes, which is great because you can still eat in moderation. I'm recommending this place to everyone.
The Balkan Experience Bottomless brunch is amazing. Great variety of food, and even though it's small portions, they're well sized. The staff here is excellent as well; they're very attentive and organized. I would highly recommend Ambar, especially for folks from out of town looking foe a great DC brunch experience.
Great Balkan feast in a very put together rustic space. A bit noisy upstairs but we managed to find a quiet window table which was perfect.
Excellent restaurant with authentic Serbian food. A bit pricey but considering the location, it's not too much. I wish the portions were bigger, but I can understand how such a fancy place does not need to increase the portions.
Fantastic food. Such variety and flavor. The Balkan special with unlimited tapas and drinks is a great treat. Highly recommend the meat mezze and tartare. Waiter was so good, and worked hard to feed us too much food and drink!
Woah. Get the tasting menu with a large group of friends. We tried 25 dishes and 22 of them were international foodie quality. We regularly drop 3 x as much on tasting menus and enjoyed the food and selection at Anbar just as much as the higher priced competitors.
