Popped in to get my Brompton fender wheels upgraded and got some detailed tips on maintenance and "no nos" to protect my investment. As noted, YouTube doesn't tell you all the pitfalls that influencers won't mention. There are bike shops closer to me but I think it's worth the drive for the expertise. And oh, the price was very reasonable.

Love this shop. I went in there for the first time last year looking for my first city bike and they were incredibly helpful, informative and non judgmental of my lack of knowledge. Every time I've gone back it's been the same way.

BicycleSpace has been my shop for almost ten years now. I used to frequent the K St.and Adams Morgan shops when they were still around, but now I make the trek out to Ivy City because it's worth it. I've tried a few other shops nearer to me in Columbia Heights, strictly out of convenience, but I always come back to BicycleSpace. This last visit was under the unfortunate circumstances of me having been hit by a car while on my bike. BicycleSpace performed an insurance assessment for me, and was very communicative and sympathetic to my situation. Everything was very transparent, and they had thoughtful suggestions for for my recovery, and for what type of bikes to look for when I'm good to ride again. I mostly dealt with Phil, and had a phone call with Robert, both of whom I've had very good shop experiences with in the past. I might not be riding for a while, but this experience has only strengthened my loyalty to BicycleSpace.

Just came from there to fix a front flat on my brommie, ended up putting on new schwalbe marathons, changing a shifter cable, & a sprinkling of sorcery dust to top things off.now this Brompton is riding as quietly & smoothly as whatever.

Great little local bike shop. They've got a nice selection of quality bicycles and parts. It's more nicer stuff than basic stuff, and priced accordingly, but it's worth paying for quality stuff. Very helpful staff too.

This place used to be good. However, ever since Covid started, the team members at the store are typically rude & condescending in their interactions. I suppose they believe that they can talk with customers any way they like since they are one of the few stores open right now.

They need to understand that there are others shops open right now, I would recommend Gearing Up Bicycles instead - they're cheaper & more polite.

Rob is disrespectful rude person, REI is better in all aspects of biking service, I go to bicycle space only when I know what i want. I stop Dealing with the service department years ago. REI IS BETTER.they have member discount and better prices and far far far far better service. Rob talks down on REI because he knows there better. I like the owner and the cute girl and Tyler. But Rob should be fired. I will avoid this store. I spend my hard earned money not to be talked to in belittling manner.

The staff was very friendly. The man who worked on my bicycle was very helpful in explaining to me what I should do to take care of my bicycle, even above and beyond the flat tire repair that was required. I will definitely come back to this store for future repairs. The cost of my flat tire repair was $37.07, definitely worth the trouble I was having with my bicycle up until now. The $37.07 included a disinfecting fee due to the pandemic, which was explained up front and was reasonable.

I called over the phone during the COVID-19 pandemic, the gentleman who answered the phone was very nasty and rude. He also tried to emphasize that I was unable to pay for a bike because it was over 1000 dollars. Which I would have had no problem paying. I will not be returning or calling here again it sounds like poor management to me. No thank you.

If zero stars was an option I would give this place that rating.

I went to this facility to get bikes for my children. Due to COVID-19 a lot of our interactions were outside of the facility. The young man helping my family was very helpful and pleasant. When I went inside the shop I was met by a very nasty man. Him and I got into a heated dispute because frankly he does not know how to talk to people. After waiting for almost an hour outside, I was greeted with a nasty tone. At the end of the day the bikes were not cheap and being a consultant that deals with clients daily you have to know how to talk to people.

He was very nasty because he felt like my noise was not covered though he cut me off while talking to the man that was helping us and my infant child took her mask off and we did not notice because she was sitting on her sister's lap in a stroller. I was happy to adjust but he yells out "I cannot have a family in here with no mask. " Everyone had a masks on and the infant who was two also had a mask but she took it off because she was an infant adjusting to a new normal.

I do understand businesses have a lot of pressure to make sure people are social distancing and wearing masks but there is a way you speak to people. This mam was nasty and I would never shop here again.

These guys do not have their COVID procedures worked out, despite us being 2 months into this whole thing. I'd give them a break if they were apologetic about the disorganization and poor management, but sadly their tone is more "its not my fault, just deal with it. " I wish I could say it's just COVID getting in the way of good service, but honestly. They've never been polite or accommodating here.

Gil was very condescending and rude. I got my bike as a gift and after asking to have my inner tubes replaced and to potentially get a rack put on he went on and on about how my bike was a “cheap fake track bike just to look ‘cool’” it was completely irrelevant and literally had nothing to do with the repair. I didn’t ask his opinion he could have just said the rack wouldn’t fit. I’m a young woman sadly I’m used to men speaking to me with superiority and condescension. I thought it was that at first but then I watched him do the EXACT same thing to the man in front of me in line telling him how there was nothing to do cause his bike was “cheap” and then going on some rant about how much experience he has and how much he knows. I treat people with kindness and respect when it’s given. Clearly this person does not. Customer service and kindness goes a long way. The other guy there was nice.

Staff are friendly. They're abiding by CDC's recommendations for social distancing and are experts. This is my new go to bike shop in DC for all of my biking needs and products for repairing my bike and doing maintenance on it myself.

Gil gil gil, and rob the bob. Worst interactions I've had in any retail experience in at least 5 years. Off the break condescending and rude. Essentially told me I wasn't welcome as a customer. Had to buy tires so unfortunately I persisted. Entire awful experience ended with rob the bob telling me to go back to Arizona. How does one reply to something like that? Where I from/look like etc.is arbitrary. Do the owners of this store have any clue as to what is currently going on? I hope their business fails so someone who is actually from the ivy city area could have a chance at their own dreams. Basically if you want to be talked down to by a bunch of gross unhealthy looking losers, go here and enjoy. Oh I will say. Mr. Bearded mechanic, obviously a good dude. I'd ask him to fix your bike after hours or something. Otherwise I hope their doors shut forever. FOAD

I dropped off my bike 2 weeks ago and still haven’t heard from them about an estimate. I’ve called 3 times to check and was assured I would receive a call back by the end of the day. I still haven’t received any info and will be picking up my bike tomorrow to take it elsewhere. I understand they are under-staffed, but it’s unfair to set expectations for customers that can’t be met. I still haven’t gotten a quote or any info from them and my bike has been there 2 weeks.

My back tire got stolen off my bike I brought my bike here with very low expectations about getting it fixed. But Gil had everything he needed and had me back on the road within 24hrs. So glad they have stayed open during this covid situation. **they are taking serious precautions with customers and equipment so be patient if you go to the store.

Went in for a brake repair expecting to have to leave my bike overnight (at least). Much to my surprise they took the bike in right away and I was gone in less than 30 minutes. I was told they try to take care of quick fixes right away because bike storage space in their shop is at a premium right now. It was a bit pricey but hey, no complaints; they took care of me right away. I'll be back when its time for more substantial work.

I went into my neighborhood shop hoping to purchase my second bike and some accessories for my folding bike, but left because the several employees in the shop never so much as acknowledged my presence in the store and continued conversations with others for several minutes. On my way out am employee shouted “have a good day! ” Perhaps they didn’t think I was there to make a purchase? Guess I’ll head over to REI.

The customer service is terrible. If you call the store to schedule a fitting, they tell you to email. If you send an email and a follow-up, you never get a reply. If you call back, they only take your information and never keep their word to return a call. I'm done trying to spend my money at this business and have found better quality service elsewhere and close by.
