Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum reviews
44It never fails to surprise me. With an excellent location, and free entrance, renwick always has a gaping gallery. Went to the burning man, and it was interesting as well as engaging. Photography is encouraged, and they have parts of the gallery distributed across the streets of dc, which I thought was very cool.
Saw the Burning Man exhibit. Very exciting artwork in a variety of unorthodox media. Some history and culture of the annual Burning Man frstival was also provided to provided, giving context to the pieces.
Its a museum of installation art that is free what's not to love. It's also small so its quick to go through.
Wonderful explanation and display of historical significance of Burning Man and evolving cultural acts.
The "Burning Man" exhibit was very interesting and probably as close as I will ever get to the actual event.
Loved loved loved it! Wonderful exhibit on Burning Man when we visited, along with other great exhibits that took a bit less space. The gallery is such an intimate yet roomy space that any exhibit could be staged well there. As part of the Smithsonian it's also free, which is nice, too.
Some of the most moving and beautiful exhibits I have ever seen at the Renwick Gallery. I would recommend going while the beautiful and interactive burning man exhibit is up. Also, as a little touch to this review my favorite part was the temple immediately after you get off of the main stairs. It a remeberance and memorial to all we have lost. It was so moving and beautiful.
What a fabulous place! While we were there, the gallery was hosting an amazing exhibit, Burning Man, that creatively stretched into the surrounding neighborhoods with outdoor exhibits. No doubt the next show will be equally riveting and worth a visit to this free Smithsonian Museum located only one block from the White House.
Outstanding place. My kids and I stumbled upon it by accident and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Photography is encouraged and there's a lot to take pictures of. You won't be disappointed.
It is definitely worth seeing, it does not take long go go through the gallery but it filled with incredible works of art.
What an awesome Gallery. Came here during the burning man exhibit and I was quite amazed at it. Very interesting exhibits, these pictures won’t do it any justice, you have to see for yourself!
Very cool burning man installation currently at the Renwick, definitely worth a look if you're in the area.
Small, intimate gallery with a great layout for exhibits. I saw the burning man exhibit and it took up the entire museum and was really quite special. I highly recommend it.
We are lucky enough to attend this special exhibition of Burning Man this summer. Artifacts, art works, and videos of Burning Man rituals make the visit more fun.
Always a big beautiful show! Grand building. Great gift shop too, I always take time to see the White House too which is just down the street.
The Burning Man exhibit is fantastic! I never really "got" Burning Man but after touring this exhibit I really want to experience it for myself. Don't forget to go upstairs before you leave.
I visited the burning man experience. My niece and I wanted to be the simulator experience. The nasty worker said was very rude and nasty. Other than that the exhibit was amazing. I cannot take people’s action in account for how wonderful the museum is. Definitely a must see!
It wasn’t too crowded on the Monday we went which was Labor Day. It was difficult to get some good picture of the mushrooms because of the crowds but still enjoyable. The exhibit is very tranquil and nice.
Strange modern art. Not my taste, but learning the history was interesting. The religious area was pretty amazing if you learn the story behind it.
Good modern art museum with interesting temporary exhibits. On this visit, the art of Burning Man was featured. Fascinating art, video, artifacts and kinetic sculpture. Only a couple of blocks from the Farragut Metro stop, so easy to get to.
