Ristorante TOSCA reviews
21 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Our waiter Brian and John (one of the managers) were super friendly, professionals and amazing people.
The food was "EXQUISITE", Bravo to the chef!
The restaurant is very well decorated and cozy.
We enjoyed that much our first time here that is now one of our favorite restaurants in DC.
We'll be back!

This is probably the best Italian restaurant in the region, from every perspective. Wonderful experience!
I highly recommend it.
Out of all the “upscale” restaurants in DC, this is by far the worst I’ve been to. My friend and I went for her birthday dinner and the manager took the candle out of her cake for her with his hands before she even finished it, she still was eating. The food was subpar. The service was so bad, we felt sooo uncomfortable. They kept staring at us and it felt like they were rushing us to leave.
The good portions were too small and way too bland for the price. It definitely wasn’t bad, even with undercooked paste, but it was boring. No stand out flavors for either dish and weirdly lacking any kind of presentation with the plating. If we’re paying that much money for a meal, I prefer an experience, not a let down. Drinks were also a bit disappointing with the presentation but they were tasty.
Great food, exceptional staff! It felt like we had a personal waiter. Plates and glasses removed as soon as empty. Stellar service. Deserts were solid and interesting.
Just a top notch place. Even though it’s pricey (expected) and doesn’t appear to be a kid friendly place, my kids loved it not a crumb was spared
Excellent service and wonderful dining experience. Just so so Italian food. I wasn’t impressed with the flavors of the meal. Their focaccia bread was incredibly tasty but other than that nothing stood out to me. I enjoyed the experience but that was it.
Amazing experience, and we will definitely be back. From very attentive service to just amazing and tasty food. We tried their lobster ravioli special, salmon, and they even made a little tomato sauce pasta fresh for our 8 year old. For appetizers, we tried their scallops and chicken pea soup. Best scallops I have had in a very long time.
Excellent food for the foodie. A bit over rated as this place is for the Pharma lobbyist. TheTutto Tonno Tonnato
Bluefin Tuna Crudo, Classic Tonnato Sauce, Salsa "Antica, " Crispy Capers is a must. Tender and better than a Japanese Sashimi. A beautiful blend of acid and herbs.
I have been floating around the Central/Northern Virginia/DC fine dining circuit for around 10 years now and can safely say that I have never felt less welcome in an establishment, fine dining or otherwise, than I did in Tosca.
We reserved a spot for the Valentine's event prix fixe menu. Our waiter arrived at our table about 10 minutes after we were seated, quite literally dropped the menus and cocktail book on the table, then ran away. I still have no idea what his name was. After two more passes with nothing said, he asked if we wanted a drink. We each ordered one (I ordered a Jalisco Martini, which was good). We then waited for too long until he showed up again to write down our selections with a dry, "Know what you want yet? " I ordered the Wagyu Strip Loin which I was promptly informed "I don't have it. We have a New York Strip. " This spiel was heard 4 more times at the surrounding table. It's a cardinal sin to understock what was very obviously going to be a hot ticket item. It got people in the restaurant, though, so maybe that was the plan.
The first course we're the appetizers, burrata and duck leg confit. Pretty decent but I would say that the burrata had a harder set than I'm used to. Second course was pasta. I had some pasta (name escapes me) with a boar ragu and spicy nduja. My pasta was about a minute south of al dente and required a good amount of work to cut, let alone chew. My lady's dish was served with lobster which, and I can't stress this enough, was positively hammered into rubber oblivion by the cook. Having the pasta course, sparing as it was, be a total letdown is a dark mark for any Italian restaurant. Third course was the NY Strip and a lamb loin. Both were, again, decent but nothing spectacular by any stretch. During this time, I tried to order a second cocktail (Mezcal Paloma) which I was later informed they were out of, as well.
Final course was a dessert flight. Most of it was good except for the fact that I nearly broke the serving dish trying to break a -meringue- with my spoon. I don't know when that was made but they might consider removing concrete from the stand mixer.
During all of this we saw our waiter maybe 4 total times and he said around 12 words. The food was brought by runners and the waiter never checked to see if things were alright. Even more disappointingly, the section adjacent had a young woman server who was pleasant, informative, and took great care to introduce each dish and drop a quick "bon appetit" before whooshing away. I wish I could have tipped her based on what I was able to catch by leaning over.
In the end, this was a massive damper on what was supposed to be a joyous, romantic evening. I hadn't even fully stood upright before the waiter plopped in and slapped his hand down on the bill. I've never felt more like a table was being turned. I will never visit here again and I strongly suggest you consider a number of other options before you give Tosca a go.
The Risotto.and the Foccacia.omgggg i can eat that over and over.the lobster caprese and the tuna. So good.was too full to have dessert so definitely have to go back.
Place is nice, but surprisingly the food was hit and miss. Some of the dinner entrees were good, others okay. But the Tiramusu and Canoli were very bland with no flavor. Different experience then we had when we went several years ago.
I spent most of my ti.enin the bar area. The staff was professional and very attentive. The drinks and appetizers were great. Highly recommended!
Overall, it was disappointing. Go to TGIF and you will find same quality of foots if not better but for a reasonable price. Salty, temperature too low when served, had a tiramisu as dessert, looked good but tasted like cheap chocolate cake. At least the wine was good and personal was attentive. However, other restaurants have someone opening the doors. Here, we came in and there was a really bad odor like someone used too much chloride with an old stinky cloth. Plates not quite matched the pictures you see on the website. So, never ever again and absolutely overpriced low quality and absolutely not recommendable.
We just left Tosca for our anniversary dinner. We have been coming to Tosca for many years and have always had a fantastic dinner. It did not live it up to its past performance. Service was slow and inattentive and the food was not good. Sad to say but I got the gluten free pasta all vongole and it had NO taste and the pasta was gummy. The clams had no taste. The waiter rolled his eyes when I asked for some cheese. It took forever to get a second a glass of wine. We left without dessert because it too too long to get attention. I clearly left half of my GF pasta in the dish but no one asked if I wanted to take it home or if there was a problem. Very disappointing and I think the manager should contact us. Reservation under John M for 12/9/22 at 7: 15
Ambiance and service was excellent but food was disappointing. Everything from the focaccia, appetizer, and mail dishes were salty, salty, salty.
Amazing everything! Service and food was just incredible. Surroundings were cozy. This is a definite do in DC!
We did not have a reservation on a Saturday night and they were booked solid. Tosca accommodated us at the bar for a very nice meal. All the food was hot and the pasta al dente.
Restaurant was empty, but obviously they had no interest in two children and sent us away. Teo waiters walked past us while we were struggling with strollers and the doors without helping.
The beef cheek was a slab of unsalted butter with some beef broth on top, almost tasteless. Waiter did not seem interested in serving us, walking away while I was still talking to him.
