Going on our second year living at 5 west and it’s been great, we moved/changed apartments a few weeks ago and management (Bella and Elisha, they’re absolutely amazing) had been so wonderful and patient helping us find a unit we’d love, we had specific requests for what and where we wanted our apt to be and they met all of them! Which was awesome. We are also very pleased with maintenance, they’re super fast and get the job done, honestly no complaints. We’ve looked at other complexes around the area before we moved in originally and this one won us over immediately.

My girlfriend and I moved to Tampa from Chicago and were looking at places and 5 West was not exactly in our budget range. We decided to stop by anyway as we wanted to be open minded and at least look at everything. We met with Jordan and he was by far the most responsive property manager we had spoken to and we spoke with around 15 others. We were able to take a tour on short notice and while the apartment was ready there were a couple of things we wanted fixed before move in and they were done within days of us asking. Over all we spent around 200.00 more that we had wanted per month but the quality of service from the sales and maintenance teams was above all expectations so it was more than worth it. If you have to do sight unseen while moving and even if this is a little over budget I would apply as you will not be disappointed.

Jordan was Awesome! My wife and I just signed a lease and we look forward to moving in this week. Jordan was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He helped us find a nice apartment within our budget. Isabela also was very nice. The apartments are very nice and very well maintained. I think we will be happy there. Thank you for all your help.

Where do I even begin? Maybe when I first moved in. Management kept trying to push the move in date further in the month for me, even though I was already moving in 2 weeks past the designated move in date. With the apartment itself, I wasn't impressed but it was livable. Many of the building materials are cheap, and made to look "luxurious". However, my apartment had dented floors, stained tiles and rusty hardware throughout. The complex itself wasn't bad.but the gate to come in was always broken, which defeated the purpose of even having a gate in the first place, the fire alarm was faulty and kept going off whenever there was a lightning storm, and I even got stuck in the elevator one time. When I first moved into the apartment, I had numerous complaints and had to stay on top of management to do their jobs correctly. My main issue was the air quality in the apartment when moving in, especially because the carpet was not properly cleaned and I am extremely sensitive to dust and pollen. It was really annoying not being able to breathe while sleeping (even after buying a HEPA filter and vacuuming daily). My air conditioner broke multiple times, until the date that I moved out. Maintenance kept coming in to say it was fixed, but only to have it broken again. Now I made it work for an entire year, and I wasn't going to leave such a negative review, BUT moving out is what pushed me over the edge. When I agreed to move out, staff failed to communicate with me the necessary procedures that needed to be done, and all that was said was "leave the key in the apartment". I never handed in my key to anyone, never had a move out inspection, and simply had to leave the apartment unlocked.that's extremely sketchy if you ask me. Now, precisely one month AFTER I move out, I am getting slapped with all of these overcharges. Charges that do not even apply to me, such as the trash valet for the month I was not living there? How does that make sense? Oh, and best of all, they mail me a bill with these charges the night before the payment due date. No phone call, no email, no warning. What a joke.

Overall, I would say its not a bad complex (bit pricey for the sketchy area and cheap building structure), but management sucks.and need to do a better job.

Love the front desk, and all that they do to try and promote within the complex. All the small parties are great. Everything is always clean.
Love it here!

So trying to search for apartments is hard enough. Coming here I was met by the leasing agent Elisha it was so happy with the experience that she gave me and could tell that the property was in great hands as long as she stays there I definitely think I’ll be signing a lease in the next few days!

Over 60 days after I moved and I have not received my deposit back. I've called half a dozen times, left a forwarding address and been told I'm supposed to receive around $1,300 of my initial deposit. They refuse to call me back. Absolutely ridiculous.

The elevator has been out 4 of the last 6 weeks. I have to climb 8 flights of stairs with a baby and asthma some days going back and forth for groceries! It's really a NIGHTMARE!

I do not recommend this building at all. I just called the office regarding an ant infestation and a very apathetic property manager told me that "we can do something about it next week. " Perhaps she enjoys living with ants? Not sure.

Gate is always broken, so don't expect any security in the building. Elevator always seems to be down, as well.

Recently, the management company also failed to bill residents for water for a period of six months, so we are all receiving back due invoices for water because of their failure. Nice extra bill with no notification, whatsoever.

I also found a set of extra apartment keys right by my door one afternoon. The extra keys that grant access to others' apartments. Carelessness abound.

The building is not well kept - trash is strewn in the stairwell, light fixtures broken on the ground.

The staff in front will slow talk you as if you have a first grade education when you try to address these issues.

Save your money, find another building and save yourself the constant hassle. And I'd gladly talk to management about these issues and more.

The management is very unprofessional. I was considering this place and wanted to take a tour. First, when I got there, many people were waiting in line, and only one was working. Other staff were staying in their office and nobody seem to care. Second, they have "classic" and "renovated" apartments and I was told they are very alike and even price is close, but in reality the classic is pretty old without washer or dryer and the renovated one chargers much higher. Third, the manager later complained that I asked to see too many places. I only asked to see two apartments - one classic and one renovated! The manager is very mean and her attitude is terrible. The whole office is depressed and makes people uncomfortable.

If you're thinking of renting here, DON'T. The walls of the apartments are SUPER thin, I can hear everything from cars all the way across the street and people outside when I live on the 4th floor. Every weekend, music is BLARING to the point that it sounds like a concert is going on outside and I've called the police multiple times due to this issue. Breezeways, stairs, and elevators are not kept clean and the elevator is almost never functioning. The car dealership is HORRENDOUS with noise from the service department and it goes on ALL day along with maintenance workers cutting the grass AT 6AM ON SATURDAY. If you want to call the leasing office, you'll get an answer 0% of the time because they NEVER answer the phone. The gates are always broken, which doesn't make me feel comfortable or safe when anyone can come into the complex. Parking isn't monitored because there are always cars without stickers parked in resident spots so I am forced to park far away from my unit. With the new management that took over, I came to find out I wasn't even ON the lease when they switched over and they had none of my information in their system. The water wasn't applied to our rent for 6+ months and I was hit with backpay this month. All in all, it hasn't been a good experience and the price I've been paying for my unit is WAY too much considering all the issues I've experienced here. The management reads reviews similar to the one I'm posting but has done NOTHING to address these ongoing issues.

I've read many of the tenants comments. I'm greatly appreciative, because I was considering this place. The PM should be ashamed of herself!

I lived here for 12 months and it was disappointing. Our doormat was stolen from our front door within a month of placing it; the office did nothing after we made them aware of it, except maybe make maintenance aware of what happened. There was an issue twice in the first 8 months with the AC blowing room temp air into the apartment; causing the AC to run constantly, not cooling the apartment, and driving up our TECO bill to almost double during the summer. Maintenance had “go onto the roof” to resolve it, which during one of the two instances, took about 3 days to resolve because the issue started on a Friday night and no one got back to us until Monday afternoon. Our thermostat, for some odd reason, is placed right in the kitchen, so when there’s cooking going on or even human interaction, the AC will turn on. I was cleaning the bathroom mirror one night and the entire thing came off the wall because the sticky paste behind it holding it onto the wall was completely worn out, I had to hold it up while my wife called an emergency maintenance request visit at 10pm on a weeknight, where the gentlemen helped me take it down & place it against the wall in the living room, he came back 2 days later to place stoppers around the edges of it. Complex Ownership changed over the holidays and it was an absolute headache to get registered onto the new resident portal without visiting the leasing office in person, we ended up paying with personal checks the last 3 months of our 12 month lease. Our neighbors upstairs were beyond barbaric, we thought they were remodeling the apartment upstairs at first and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but when we heard thumping and knocking and things being dragged between the hours of 10pm-3am from basically October-March, we knew it was actual tenants. We went as far as banging on the ceiling and calling the office to complain, nothing changed. Either the walls/ceiling walls are paper thin or we have Giants living above us. It sounded like they were dropping weights onto the floor every night or dragging heavy chests of treasure. The security gates rarely worked, the entrance off Hillsborough Ave was open about 80% of the time. The entrance off George Rd, that gate worked how it should most of the time, although they kept it open for almost 4 months over the winter. Also, to leave the complex, the George Rd gate sometimes got stuck when it’s halfway open, forcing you to either get out of your car and push it open the rest of the way while an alarm rings away, or just use the Hillsborough gate to exit. The smell of the water when the sprinklers are on is horrendous; it smells like a mile wide stink bomb went off. My wife also found another vehicles white paint on her car door one morning, leading us to believe that someone hit her car with their door. It never ends here. A few positives, the maintenance guys are very friendly and do the best they can when they’re made aware of an issue, the grilling area is nice and the grills themselves work well. The pool is also nice. Overall, for $1420-1550 for one bedroom, I’m sure there are other properties that aren’t a complete pain.

Horrible management. I would recommend looking somewhere else. Management needs to be re-trained and become more professional and treat potential customers with respect!

5 west is the one of the worst apartments I lived in. No proper service for the problems, I stay in 3 floor and elevator breaks every other day and they fix it after few days. We complained so many times and they wont fix permanently. They say it is a luxury not part of apartment rent we pay. And they Elevator is not an emergency thing. This is the way they cover up. Please make a wise decision before you choose the community, don’t end up in this community and suffer.

Again this weekend it is not working.they are not fixing the elevator. I want leave this apartment but they want me to pay for lease break fees. I spoke with the manager here, so she says management says elevator is luxury it is not part of apartment. I want to leave this community with the pain I am going through.

I would give zero star if I could have. It is the worst rental experience and rudest staff I have ever seen. Terrible attitude and unprofessional! Be aware if you are interested in the property. Come to the leasing office at lease twice before you sign. You will probably see the scene that angry people arguing with staff.

PLEASE RETURN MY SECURITY DEPOSIT! I moved out on April and they promised to return my deposit. But now it has been three months, they still haven't return my deposit. Emails were never responded. My online rent payment account was quietly deleted and the account shows the money they should refund. It’s too awful! Do not live here, they just want your money!

I DONT RECOMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. Worst experience and rudest staff. Cannot imagine they have 3.3 score based on what I have experienced. So I took a look at the reviews, among the 114 reviews, over 90% are either 1 star or 5 star. Usually a good and real rating have many 4 stars and 3 stars reviews. So most people here 1) are furious or 2) believe it is perfect 3) written by mgt
