Crunch Fitness - Sarasota Bee Ridge

My wife joined here last summer but decided to cancel due to the Covid closing. The customer service number never worked during this time and the business was also closed. So she sent a letter in to cancel. They continued to charge. We continued to have problems with the business cancellation policy and on-going charges. My wife attempted to settle with them so this review would never have to be written but they insisted that my wife was in the wrong here.

Very bad cancellation policy is horrible and almost impossible to achieve without changing your bank account. I will never use again.

Mazing gym! They have been the best i can ask for throughout the shutdown.communication has been exceptional and the online content has been amazing helping me continue my fitness journey while outside of the club.

Crunch has shown extraordinary leadership in the fitness industry during these uneasy times. They have allowed us to have full access to world class trainers online and are always posting new at-home workout videos. I certainly miss my gym and my community and am looking forward to getting back to it!

Throughout this entire Covid-19 pandemic they have been really top notch. Before they were forced to close down they were constantly cleaning and sanitizing all the equipment and surfaces. Now they not only froze our billing, they also are providing a ton of online content so I can workout from home! My wife daughter and I love doing the workouts together in our living room! Super excited to return, I can confidently say I will feel safe going back. I know they keep it incredibly clean.

I love it there. I feel inspire to work harder because of all the other people who push themselves. Options are interesting.

Very helpful trainers. Good variety of equipment. They have helped me reach my goals and push me to retain them.

Having traveled all over the states for work and getting passes at only crunch locations when possible this is the best crunch ever I had been coming here for 3 years

I would love to give this particular crunch a better review but I simply cannot due to how my membership cancellation has been mishandled by management. I provided the necessary documentation required of me IN SEPTEMBER 2019 and have also made several calls and reached out directly to the general manager a month ago, as directed by another manager and still have no response and my account continues to be charged as of January 2020. * two stars because I did enjoy the facility when I was a Sarasota resident but I shouldn’t have to battle it out to ensure management handles my account properly. Unprofessional!

I signed up for Crunch when they were having a special. The General Manager said previous members who cancelled within a certain time period could sign up for free the day I came in, and wouldn’t billed until January. Specifically, he told me I had until January 14th to cancel before I would be billed anything. On January 2nd, I was billed “club fees, ” which I emailed and called to try to explain that our agreement was I wouldn’t be billed till the 14th. At that point, I just accepted paying the fees, and continued to try to cancel the membership completely. I emailed at least 5 times, and called as well, and I have still never received a response. On January 27th, I was billed another 41 dollars. I have been calling and still received no response. Every time I have gone into that gym, there are people standing around the desk where the phones are, so it is hard to believe that they are too busy to pick up the phone and try to help. I would recommend just trying another gym.

I was treated so nicely here. I’m from out of state and visited another fitness center yesterday using my health insurance fitness membership. I was treated poorly and told I could only do Silver Sneakers and the class was geared for people much older than I. I was very disappointed. Today I went to Crunch Fitness and was treated great. They were helpful, welcoming and allowed me to use a variety of classes. Great place. Highly recommended

Decent gym, horrible company ethics. They refused to cancel my membership then didn't return any calls or emails. Eventually I was able to get them to cancel but only after they charged me for an additional 2 months. There are much better gyms in the area. Despite being a member for over 3 years, I will not be returning to crunch in the future.

I joined 2 months and 15 pounds ago.

I didn't realize that all gyms are not the same. I did get annoyed about something (that they fixed quickly) and decided to see what other local gyms had to offer.

I found the best place for me was right where I was.

Crunch Bee Ridge:

Always has super friendly staff.

It is the best laid out (floor plan) in the area. The cardio equipment is on risers so you can see everything going on. You can watch folks doing what you aspire to.

Whether you aspire to lift weights or do pull-ups in it's free weight area, push a sled in the HIIT ZONE, make it through a high intensity dance type class (I can't wait until I'm ready to try one of those), or do a 30 minute workout using the Nautilus equipment, you can see others accomplishing those goals from the cardio equipment risers.

The gym feels like a community. Ear buds in and rocking out to their own tunes, fellow gym goers smile and nod at each other.

If your going to sweat, which usually involves some physical discomfort, this is the friendliest place to do that.

Included tanning booth. I have a "farmer's tan" from work and have taken full advantage of the opportunity to even it out.

Crunch fitness is the best gym ever. So many more options as far as free weights and cable machines and cardio machines. Would recommend to anyone.

Garrett the GM needs a lesson in customer service. I went in for a tour and to ask some general questions about membership. The first turn-off was when I was dismissively handed off to a brand new employee to give me the tour because Garrett and the other front desk employee couldn’t be bothered to do it.
After my tour, Garrett comes over with the sales pitch and the iPad to get me signed up without asking if I’m actually ready to do so. I asked him if they did a guest pass so that I could get a better feel for the gym because I’m shopping around. He proceeded to ask why, where else I’m looking at joining and then talk trash about every other place. (He apparently used to manage LA fitness before moving to crunch). I pointed out that he still hadn’t answered my simple question about a guest pass and he huffed away to the desk and came back with a ONE DAY pass. He practically threw it at the new employee that gave me the tour and walked away and never said another word to me. The new employee obviously felt awkward and kept trying to reassure me that this facility is a great place to workout. Sadly, that was enough of a bad business experience that I won’t be joining. Clearly the general manager doesn’t get that a little interest in prospective members and customer service go a long way. If that’s how he’s running the place, I don’t want any part of it.

There’s nothing wrong with Crunch as a gym, but when it comes to their business model it's nothing short of predatory and dishonest.
I was out of state, my card wasn’t working and I missed two payments. Total due was about $20. After that I started to receive threats that they will sue me and pass my debt to collection agency with all the applicable collection and court costs. I realized that guys are not in the fitness business.
When I came on October 18th and paid my balance I asked to cancel my membership. Employee at the counter pretended that he was doing something with their CRM system and after several minutes said that it's done. He pointed out that membership will be active until the end of the October and on October 30th it will be canceled. Several days later I stopped by and checked with the girl at the counter that it's all right. She said that no cancellation has been made and my membership was still active and if I want to cancel I need to pay for one more month because the cancellation requests carry a 10-day notice and my next monthly fee will be due by the time it will take effect.

Stay away from Crunch Fitness!

Crunch is such a perfect fitness place. Staff is amazing, Kasey is very helpful and sweat and Marie is the BEAST trainer out there

Rachel, Kasey, and Garret are the greatest gym staff! Always happy when I come in and made signing up super easy!

The super handsome Kasey at the front desk made my experience superb. Clean and professional facility.
