David's Real Pit BBQ, Gainesville FL

I moved from Long Island. Where they have the best bacon egg and cheese. I’ve looked everywhere to find a place that can give me a little taste of home. This is that place! Love their bacon egg and cheese on toast. Their customer service is amazing. Always happy no matter how busy they are. They make you want to come back.

I like this place. The food is good. The iced tea is good. Better than a lot of pork sandwiches I've had in North Carolina. It's reasonable priced. One day I ordered and had forgotten my wallet and they were very nice about it. Let me eat and then go home and get my wallet to pay! Now how many places would let you do that these days!? !

Food was awesome. I would highly recommend it. The home made ice tea was on point.

The whole staff was very friendly and courteous.

The portion size for the lunch special was more than appropriate!
It's not very often you actually feel like you got your money's worth. But the lunch special was $5.99. A drink brought it to a little over $7.
David's beans are the best around! Flavorful with large chunks of meat in them.
And corn bread muffins!
Definitely worth a try, especially if you're sick of of the big name chain BBQ place in town.

Summary: Its ok. I may go back but probably not. Good Service!

The Good:
Decent BBQ. It has the traditional offerings. I like the sweet bbq sauce. I dont care for their version of carolina bbq but its not bad. Fries were crisp and warm. Nice! Good Service!

The Not So Good:
I ordered two sandwich combos. The sandwiches were different in amounts of meat. I tried the garlic toast and the regular bun. The garlic toast was about twice the weight of meat.

I tried downloading a BOGO coupon at home. I didnt receive it. I figured i would get it by the time I got to the shop. No luck. I still dont have it.

Great southern BBQ spot with good tea. Nice big portions, good sauces. Both locations are a bit small, though.

The chopped pork plate is absolutely mouthwatering with the hot bbq's and regular mixed! The fries aren't greasy and the garlic toast is delicious also. One of my favourite spots. I miss their old sign though, lol.

The worst. The chicken is dry the dark meat is under cooked the sauce is horrible. The place is filthy and the service people are rude

Some food is much better than other food but that's how food is for people, plus depending on who's working service changes dramatically!

Food is delicious however when asking how you want your order they fail to mention additional charges. I ate there June 21and22 two different cashiers. Staff is friendly

I've only eaten here once because I had a coupon, but it was great. The sweet tea wasn't too sweet for me, and I got a set of ribs and brisket combo with fries. It was delicious and very filling. There was plenty of food. There's different sauces to try, all of which I enjoyed. I'd definitely come here again. Staff was nice.

This the nastiest warmed up left over pork and chicken I ever tried to eat! You could tell it was left over for days died out pork looked like turkey not pork and chicken was died out! One bit of each and I threw it in garbage! The waitress said how was your lunch? I said nasty and she walked away!

The food was good and served hot and fresh. The cashier was friendly and patient as we decided what we wanted.

To go order for 2. As always food good. They made a mistake asked for green beans and got greens instead. I detest greens.

We used David's to cater a wedding and couldn't be happier. From providing samples ahead of time to coordinating up to the date. The onsite experience is even better. A beautiful stainless steel grill shaped like a pig, and food cooked to perfection by Brian and his son. We could not have been happier!

Breakfast is excellent. In the picture is the scrambler plate, but you can get the eggs however you want. The grits and bacon are under the eggs. The pancake was also very good. Can’t go wrong here. Fast friendly diner service.

Great BBQ. They were super busy at lunch time, which is a good sign. Everyone has friendly and the food was fresh.

I'm in town for work and have been here multiple times in the course of the week. Amazing food and amazing hospitality. You can beat the prices for food both breakfast and lunch.
Pancakes were awesome and so is the scrambler, but make sure you get the gravy on it!
Pulled pork sandwich is on point with great bread and their smoke chicken falls off the bone!

David's is my favorite BBQ place in town. I have never had a meal here that was less than excellent. The staff is always friendly as well.

The food is delicious, and the staff is great! I'll be stopping here the next time I'm in town!
