El Castillo reviews
25Today was my first (and last) time going to this restaurant. I ordered birria tacos and the supreme nachos appetizer with ground beef. The tacos were eh.decent not impressed but the nachos were TERRIBLE.all the chips were soggy and everything was cold as if it was refrigerated.i threw it all away.the reviews were misleading and i definitely will not go back.
We always order the chicken fajitas and feel these are the best in town. The fajitas at Casa Maria are a close second, but the chicken here is obviously marinated and tenderized with plenty of Green and Red peppers that many restaurants are skimpy with these days.
Excellent food and friendly service. You can’t really top the tacos at this place on this side of town.
THEY NOW HAVE birria tacos!

5 out of 5 on a carne asada taco! Once I took a bite I couldn't put it down. Also order sandwich. And what I got was a torta almost the size of a soccer ball muchas gracias Amigos. Definitely coming back. Wow the salsa GoooooooD

I can now, say I have been here countless times. It's always GREAT!
They also have tables outside.
Server breakfast
The quesadilla with the spicy chorizo was completely excellent and the wait staff was there courteous kind every time that we needed them and even when we didn't ask for anyting definitely recommend this place
The food at El Castillo was DELICIOUS! I especially loved the homemade corn tortillas for their tacos.yum!
Love the tacos from here and I enjoy walking through the tienda to find candy or baked goods that remind me of my childhood back in L. A. However, I have to tell y'all about this BOMB breakfast burrito I got from there today! YO! When I tell you I had an epiphany when I bit into this thing, I almost turned around to go back and buy another one! As simple as a breakfast burrito is, I tasted the love!
Favorite Taco/Burrito Place in Jacksonville. This place started off smaller 7 yrs ago but has grown since then with new owners ond better cooks.
Excellent location for Mexican food. I wish there were more places like this around town. Really nothing but good experiences here. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Great place to eat if you want some delicious authentic Mexican food! We love this place! It's small but clean restaurant/grocery store so don't expect to have a "fine dining" experience as far as the location and ambiance. You'll pay a fraction of the price and get much better tasting food compared to some fancy restaurants at the town center. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Well we came on a Sunday. There might have been 2 other customers. It still took us 5 minutes just to get menus. But once we ordered we sat around and ate our chips. Well about a hour and 15 minutes later our food started to arrive. But still took a full 10 minutes to bring out our 4 plates. The meal was fairly good. But there are plenty of places that have better food, service, and more affordable.
I can only assume they charge more because of their lack of return customers.
Do not come here. Go to mi pueblo.
Best tacos since home in San Diego. Go with the Carnitas or Carne Asada on fresh grilled corn tortillas! Mui Bien!
Best and most authentic tacos I've had in the city! It is a must try for anyone who loves mexican food. My favorite is the Callejero Style Tacos with Asada.
Undoubtedly the best Mexican / Hispanic taqueria this side of town. Food is as fresh and handmade as it can get. Portions & prices offers an undeniable value. It's almost like being invited to a family dinner.
A small restaurant shared with a mini mart. The tacos were great, but dessert was old and stale. I will definitely go again though.
No English spoken here (that I've seen) but the staff is friendly and their tacos are among the best and most authentic in Jacksonville-great lunch spot!

Best tacos in Jacksonville by far! These guys are amazing, and price is very reasonable! Highly recommended.
Chicken fajitas were amazing, but my husband's tacos were soggy, the queso was cold and the rice was hard.
Makes great tacos and caldo de res (beef soup) the bakery also has a good selection of pastries and bread.
