24I had a great experience at independent transmissions at his new Melbourne location. I was told by Rich's auto repair in west Melbourne that my cars transmission was going to need to be completely rebuilt and would cost more than the value of my car, and they tried to convince me it was too dangerous to drive and needed to be traded in. I went to independent transmission for a second opinion to find out there was nothing wrong with my transmission and the noise I was hearing was the differential mount becoming lose. Much cheaper fix, and a very honest and straight forward mechanic.
Ken rebuilt the transmission and tuned up the engine on my van. The work included replacing the oxygen sensors. He does good work, meets the schedule that he tells you and charges a fair price. I am very satisfied with his work.
Very knowlegable, years as an idependent.wanted to spend money in the community, was not dissapointed. Ken knows his stuff.
Rebuilt a 48re transmission and did what I asked. The transmission has performed well for almost a year and 10,000+ miles. Told me my drive line was vibrating and going out, which it was. Treated me good and was honest. Had my pickup done really quick too.
