Metro Diner reviews
38Indoor dining is great. Outdoor dining allows dogs so if you don't want to eat around dogs indoor is for you. Food is excellent and bountiful.
Standard diner with above standard food. I look forward to going back and trying something else!
We had a delightful lunch in the outside patio. Each of us enjoyed our meals. My hubby ordered the famous meatloaf and was delighted with it!
Great food at very good prices.
The menu here is loaded with great options that are just waiting to be explored.
You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
Great food! Place is always busy but service is great. Have been there a few times and they never disappoint!
Had to Waffles & x 2. All together we got 2 whole waffles & 1 whole. The service was impeccable. The staff very attentive and 2 managers stopped by to make sure our needs were met. Thank you for the great experience. Next go round, pot pie.
Had the shrimp and grits they were ok. The grit cakes didnt taste like grits all I could taste was red peppers. My son's dish was really salty. It was some shrimp noodle dish.
Fantastic food and service from Zach. The manager Richard genuinely a pleasure. Can't wait to travel back to Gainesville again for the food. Try the Shrimp and Grits, Fantastic
This place is amazing! The food is delicious! Well priced for HUGE portions! The staff is super helpful and friendly. Parking is quick and convenient. Restaurant is in a great spot. No complaints, my favorite menu item is the bissell breakfast!
I've never ordered something that wasn't absolutely delicious. One of the few places I try something different every time, and Ive never been disappointed. The service is great, and always helpful. Expect to wait a bit at busier times, because everyone in Gainesville knows how impressive this place is. It is also one of the few places that opens before 7, offering a great breakfast any day before the city wakes up. Would reccomend to everyone!
I've been to Metro Diner quite a few times with my family. Everyone else seems to love it, but for me it's just not that great. I'd love to see a few healthier choices on the menu. I do appreciate that they put the calorie count on the menu.
Last visit, I had the Greek salad. The dressing was flavorful, but the lettuce was large pieces of mostly hard, pale pieces. A good lettuce mix would make a world of difference to that salad. Instead of whole pepperoncinis, banana pepper rings would be good - easier to mix into the salad. It was just small things like that which kept me from enjoying my food.
My nephew had chili - it looked and tasted like canned, although I've been told everything is cooked in house.
Service was very good, and the kitchen definitely is accommodating to special requests.
I just don't think any of the food is good enough to be excited about.
So good! Home cooking to really love. Some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had! Two thumbs up! Highly recommend.
Very busy location and you must get here early. I always get the house special.the Chicken and Waffles. A half of a chicken, yes a half of a fried chicken and a fluffy waffle with strawberry butter compote and hot sauce syrup. It is so delicious and trust me, you won't be able to finish it all. The whole menu is chocked full of great menu items so you won't be disappointed. Bring a empty belly, with a adjustable belt and be prepared for a loud environment because this placed is packed.
Great place for breakfast. Good service, delicious food and a wide variety too. I would recommend going here.
Food very good. Sausage and gravy like homemade, with good amount of sausage in it, not just flour and water, and was a huge serving. Two pepole could have easily shared it. Pancakes great. Eggs (scrambled and over-medium) cooked perfectly. Grits good, but a little strong on the pepper. Bacon very good. Large amounts of food. We probably could have ordered 2 meals, and fed 4 of us. Will definitely go back on another trip to the area!
A staple for any UF student. As seen on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (the Jacksonville location). I find myself coming back to Metro Diner at least 2 times a month. They have regularly changing specials that I enjoy ordering as well as keeping my favorites in rotation. You gotta try the chicken and waffles, the breakfast pizza, and if you just want a snack, the spicy chicken biscuit.
(If you want a quick meal while there's a wait, make sure to call ahead for pickup!)
If I lived closer, I would ABSOLUTELY dine there again. Great food, good portions, great staff.if you've never been, you should DEFINITELY check it out! You won't be disappointed!
One of my absolute favorite places to eat. Everything I've ever had was very good. Service is always excellent. Highly recommended!
Great food, but they are so busy. It takes forever to get coffee refills, and be sure to ask for a straw if you need one. They will not automatically give you one. Also, their coffee is not real strong. Not bad, but if you like a robust roast, get it elsewhere. Great fresh vegetables in the food. I got black beans and rice, it was very bland. No seasoning. Overall good, just they need to hire an extra waitress
Me and my bf’s favorite breakfast places here in Gainesville. One time he lost his credit card but they secured it for him and even asked questions to ensure he’s the owner which is pretty awesome. They always have a warm welcoming approach and the food is great! Service is fast and efficient!
