Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Animal Services reviews
22 They are amazing.
We had dog bite case wile we were on vacation in Siesta Key. They helped us in all possible ways and located that dog in Miami, FL. It was Labour day weekend and they came to our location anyway. While Miami office was closed.
Great service, very helpful, great job.
They even call us after they closed their report to ask how we are doing!
Thank you Officer Perez for your service and job.
Love this facility. Miss the first rate staff and hope they are all safe and healthy. Love seeing our dogs get adopted or rescued. Woohoo!
Worked with Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office of Animal Services on a few occasions concerning a litter of kittens under my parents home and a lost dog my husband and I found. Both times the staff and officers were extremely caring and eager to help. They are definitely an asset to our community.
Perhaps the apparent rude mistreatment of prospective pet adoptees is why people resort to pet shops where you may be treated politely. These comments make me extremely reluctant to even go there even though I would love to adopt a pet.
Recently had a senior dog wander off. Called them and they couldn't have been more helpful and kind to me. Went to their location out east Bee ridge. They took a report from me, helped me make flyer, and never minded my multiple daily calls checking to see if she had turned up.
Found the dog 3 days later, but the resources they connected me with were life saving. There job cant be easy. They still manage to not only be professional, but infinitely kind. Thank you.
Amazing facility, the dogs for adoption really need a good home. They also need donations of food, blankets and toys.
Called about a puppy left in a cage for 17 hrs no food or water, nice guy Paul helped me, very professional, but was hoping to hear something about the puppy, weather it was rescued or not, noticed it was gone 30 min after I called, just hoping knucklehead who owned it didn't take it in, before someone got there for a welfare check, Thanks Paul.
Every time I have had to interact with Animal Services, they have been nothing but helpful, friendly and compassionate. I'm finally getting around to writing a review because I just found a dog wandering on a busy road about to be hit. They made the necessary calls back and forth for me to get the dog reunited with the owner, for which I'm very thankful. If you have to leave a message while they are busy or after hours, they actually call you back. They come to rescue as soon as they can (from my previous experience) and they really seem to care about doing right by the animals, though I realize there are laws they have to follow which are sometimes a bummer. Compared to many cities and towns in the United States, Sarasota's Animal Services seems top notch - a well run organization.
Dont let your dog get out and caught by this entity. They give you a citation for animal cruelty
An animal control officer came to my place of business to remove a snake. She arrived quickly and was polite. Honestly, I was amazed at the level of service. Big thanks!
We got a racoon in our pool cage. It is Friday night at almost nine.
A lady officer came to remove it. She worked professionally and got the racoon out of the cage.
Horrible unsanitary conditions. My dog stayed here for 10 days and got kennel cough and pneumonia and died when I got him back. Will never forgive this place and the workers for not treated the animals properly. Horrible and cruel. Will be contacting county.
The facility is clean and so are the animal cages. But the service is horrible. They do not answer the phone nor do they return phone calls when messages are left. Seems they do not care about the potential adoptions of the animals.
The one star is generous. The staff are quite possibly the rudest people I have ever met with.the dogs are adorable and the trainer is the sweetest person ever (but if you ask kristian, she says they don’t have a trainer) Lauren and Kristen (two front desk workers) should not be in this profession. If you want answers and actual help then I’d suggest asking a floor volunteer or worker. By far THE WORST front desk staff. I am forced to adopt from someplace else because I just cannot go through their rude comments TO MY CHILD AND I again. The dogs are adorable and the volunteers are amazing. But anyone going should stay away from LAUREN AND KRISTAN.
A year ago, this animal shelter did not have the best reputation, but now they have defaintly upgraded in every aspect! Majority of the time you are greeted and ask if you need help.
My family and I got Zeeke, a mutt from this shelter. They took very good care of him and gave us everything we needed. Before we could go through the adoption process he had to be neutered, so my brother and I would go and play with him and take him to the amazing pool they have! Zeeke is very happy with us now, and we are happy to have him. He was already house trained and sort of knew some commands. A few weeks after bringing Zeeke home, one of the volunteers called us to check in and they were so happy to hear he was doing well.
Overall facility is in good repair and you can tell the dogs and cats are very well taken care of. Stop in and see the kittens as well, they will melt your heart!
Had a tour of the facility today and was very impressed at how well organized and clean it is. The staff are very friendly. It is a very nice environment for the animals. Kristen Little, the Volunteer/Foster Coordinator, was the tour guide and was very informative and knowledgeable.
I don’t like writing reviews on government agencies because they have a monopoly on their services. You are stuck using them. All I can say is they had our dog and our lost dog report and had numerous phone calls from us. They never returned our calls or acted upon the report we made. We went in person and only after insisting that they had our dog did they bother to look him up. So if you lost your pet- you need to go there and follow up. Reports or phone calls are generally ignored.
We fell in love with and adopted a sweetheart bully breed @froederickthesharpit. Great experience- nice facility- it wasn't depressing like other county shelters, the dogs loved the staff and were well taken care of. The staff cares about the animals and followed up with us continuously throughout the process. The volunteers are doing a great job! Thank you for all that you do!
Such a great experience and the dog facilities have really improved. There is even a doggy pool with a fountain!
Years ago I took my children on a field trip and was beyond impressed with the cleanliness and genuine love for the animals by staff and volunteers. Recently I returned, even more impressed with the beautiful renovations to the facility. All of the dogs are clean, well cared for and have a new bone shaped doggie pool to enjoy!
