Thought the price was too high at first but after seeing how many animals this place has, the price is well worth it. If you are a member at any national zoo you get half off too. Get one of the bikes, this place is HUGE, probably 6 miles of walking in the day with two little ones was a rough go. Food is mediocre. Boat ride was a bust. But the variety of animals is unmatched.

You shouldn't come to the Miami Dade area without stopping by the Miami Zoo. Excellent tours, fun rides and great variety of animals. Solids prices too.

Loved it had lots of fun. It was really hot so we loved the water park for kids
. The animals seemed as hot as us. But the gorilla especially looked hot. We wish there were more places to feed and given these animals water.

I don’t know it’s a bad season to go to the zoo or if we just were unlucky today but I gotta say that was not what we expected. Of corse we saw some cute animals and we had fun but so many areas were closed down or not working at the moment. A lot of cages were empty because the animals “were moving”.

And I don’t know if it’s a common illness but there were signs at the entrance that some animals are sick and you should not touch them so we didn’t want to do the “feed. ” attractions either.

Great place! You can walk, ride a cycle or water cycle. There is a possibility to feed animals and a lot of species I've never seen before! Love it

If you come, expect to spend a few hours here. Huge zoo and a lot of walking. They have bikes which you can rent;first time I've seen that in a zoo. The animals were beautiful. They had a very spacious environment for them to roam. Feeding the giraffe was definitely a nice experience. All the employees we encountered were friendly and attentive.

Lots of different animals to see. This was my first time to the zoo and I witnessed a lot of the animals with their backs turned and basically depressed. Although I do not agree with this captivity, this zoo is on a large lot. If you plan on going you should plan to spend around 3 hours at least! Bring water and bring money to buy more water and wear comfortable shoes to walk in because this will be a long walk.

They rent out bikes and the whole zoo has no bike lanes. It isn’t an issue when you go on a Monday when the zoo is empty. Go on a Saturday and it’s terrible to get around with all the people everywhere. Even worse try going on museum day when it’s free to get in.

Very hot. More shades needs to be added to prevent heat strokes. Long lines for drinks or water. Needs a better system for walking the park, maybe arrows on the ground that points you to the next exhibit. Other than that it's a cool zoo and you can bring the whole family there.

Living or visiting Miami is a must to go to the Zoo. You need at least 5 hours to see it all and I recommend renting the bikes, kids and adults always have a lot of fun. The food areas could be better, they are plain ant way to expensive. Animals are clean not smelly, they look healthy.
You can feed the Giraffes, give fish to pelicans. Good learning experience for kids and adults.

Entrance is already $25 plus feeding is extremely expensive. For giraffes they want $10 for 5 lettuce leaves and this would last you less than 1 minute. So when you try to split those leaves to get at least 1 picture and 1 video with giraffes - workers start yelling at you and threating to cut off your feeding time and cick you out. So for the family of 3 expect to spend at least $200 (entrance fee, animals feeding and food and drinks). Extremly overpriced. Plus as of mid September 2018, basically no animals in Amazon and Beyond section. Thanks for not writing it anywhere or let people know. What a waist of time

Great place to go while in the neighborhood.a lot of attraction offer a special view of the animals via a tunnel, cave hidden window etc.that allow you get a closer loo of the animals.
Renting a family bike is not a must but it will allow you cover more distance and save some long distance walking time.
The local everglade boat ride is boring but the everglade animal life is very nice and you get a very good and close look of the alligators. Do bring bathing clothes for the kids since it can get warmer and the zoo have some fun water amusement features and playground.
You can cover the place with about 4-5 hours

It's a big zoo and my child enjoyed the reptiles, the splash pad and the playground. It was a hot day but there was a breeze and some cloud cover. They had lots of water features to cool off, shade and water bottle fill stations. It's a large zoo though and the animals are spread out. So most people rent the $60-80 bikes. I wish we had when at the end of the day we walked the Asian trail with the intention of exiting. We made it a long way and the path was closed! We were hot and near heat exhaustion by this point. No buildings with AC on this trail. We had to turn around and walk half the park back and then out to exit. No signs warning you of a closed path or no outlet that way and no marking on the map.

This place loots money from people even after having valid pass in hand. They do not allow us to take our vehicle inside and instead they will force you to take their own pedalling cycle which is really heavy and will give you leg pain. The interesting this is that they charge a minimum of $27 for two hour of usage and a daily rent of up to $60. They hold your driving licence untill you return the cycle keys, as if they gave you a BMW to ride. Rental sites like turo offerrs BMW or benz for lower price that these guys and we r paying these much money for a pedallibg cycle. You will be wet over sweat under hot sun and will be tired and may need to take few days of rest after paying money for these stuffs. More over they charges around $25 for 30 minutes of pedalling boat drive in their lake inside. Remember that fact that the Miami Safari park offers same pedalling boat free of cost to all of their ticket holders.
Also note that the animal variety is very low in this place as compared to safari park which allows you to take your own car inside park for free of cost in miami.

Real nice for families, friends, on dates, etc.it’s best to go early so you don’t get caught in lines or with the sun beating down on you. We paid extra for the train & to feed some of the animals. Also there are shows which is another reason to go early so you can have the full experience. My babe was on call so we actually had to cut our day short so it worked out and we were able to visit everywhere on the map.
There’s something for everyone to do especially if someone can’t walk to much there are trolleys you can pedal as well. You can get a lot of nice pictures too.

What a wonderful experience. This was our first time going to the Miami Zoo. The zoo is well laid out and easy to get around in. The exhibits were well laid out. I was especially impressed with the Lion exhibit as it was wide, open and well made with replicas of old indian style buildings. It was the most open I think i've ever seen a lion be in an enclosure. We found a great iguana just walking around. We also took advantage of feeding both the giraffe and the rhino. The kids loved the experience and we loved it as well. They had a couple of nice playgrounds for the kids to take a break in as well as some water features to cool them off. The transit system worked well as well. The only thing I didn't like was the expensive 4 seater bicycles they had for rent. They were interesting, but not worth the very high cost.

It was such a beautiful zoo. There were so many exhibits, and it took 4 hours to look at them all. They offer bike type carts for families to ride around on too. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because there were a few animals that were in tiny enclosures all alone with nothing to do and no friend to play with, they just sat and stared at the floor the entire time, bored out of their mind. And there were a few animals that were so skinny I could see nearly their entire skeleton. But other than those few, the animals seemed happy and healthy.

It was extremely hot (in December), it takes a very long time to get from place to place and once you finally get to an actual exhibition the poor animals are just trying to hide from the blazing hot sun. After paying about $50 for two adults, you have to pay additionally for every ridiculous "attraction" (even $0.25 to feed coy fish, $5 per person for a slow and boring fake "air boat" ride just to see inflatable flamingos floating in a fake pond -_-) Also their veggie burger is dry and flavorless. Way over priced and not worth it. Not for a second.
