Smith Family Garden Luau reviews
35 Paid $15 for the show only as we couldn’t justify paying almost $100 on a buffet. Apparently the food is pretty good so if you are ok with spending the extra hundred on a dinner - go for it.
This was our first luau so we didn’t have much to compare it to but it was fairly entertaining. It did seem a bit “disney” ish and some ppl were questioning its authenticity. There was one fire guy at the end - he was the most exciting part of the show but even then, we expected a bit more.
$15 is a great price to pay for the show only. Would’ve loved to try the food if it wasn’t so expensive.
Awesome Christmas Day dinner! We really enjoyed the Hawaiian luau buffet (everything was delicious) and the music during dinner was great. The grounds are so beautiful and the sheer number of peacocks and roosters is fun; if they know you have treats on you you'll have a crowd following you!
Wonderful time with family. The food was great, drinks we're cold and plenty. The dance was one to see.
This Luau was spectacular. Great food and hospitality. Beautiful property. Thank you Smith family!
We are a family of four with a 9 and an 11 year old. The overall experience was very good and the food was excellent. The show was also very good but perhaps a little outdated. I wasn't prepared for the large number of people that attended, something in the neighborhood of 400. Seating for dinner is assigned for large groups and first come first serve for groups less than six people. I would recommend staking out a table when you first get there. We wound up getting stuck next to two drunk obnoxious frat boys which lessened our enjoyment of dinner. I would also recommend leaving dinner a little early to walk down and get good seats for the show. I was worried that there would be no fire dancers but was rewarded at the end. In summary, good food, nice setting, entertaining show, tons of random people.
I think over all it was a average. The was standard buffet food not great, but not terrible. The grounds were very nice and the show good, but just over priced for what you received.
This is the best place in the world. Come and enjoy the real hawaiians and the aloha spirit. Smiths do it right!
For a good Luau experience in Kaua'i, this the best place to visit. The food is alright and hence the 3 stars, but the show was truly the best in the island.
Honestly, I don't ever expect too much from a buffet as most places I have been to have decent tasting dishes. However the Smith Family Garden Luau buffet left me stuffed and wanting more! The majority of the dishes tasted great.
I removed a star since the final show was way too long. It was nice, but without any real exciting moments, it became repetitive and boring.
ALOOOOOOOHAAAAAA. My wife and I experienced a Luau with the Smith family and it was a lot of fun. The show was very well put together and had very cool effects and dancing. And of course, they did not mess around with the food for their massive buffet.
Amazing! This was such an amazing evening, every part was perfect. We did the river boat ride before and had an awesome time, sort of a pre-party gathering at the fern grotto. Once we made it to the luau we were met with the kindest and most helpful people around. The trolly ride around the property was very informative and entertaining. Even though there was a lot of guests, the Smith family was very succesful at making everyone feel welcome and important. The family tradition and the traditions of the islands were magnificently displayed by the Smith family, the pride they take in there traditions was truly an honor to be a part of. The food was amazing, there was so much incredible food that two trips through was necessary to try everything. What was also impressive was how well orchestrated the meal was, they managed to feed a giant group very quickly and effectively. The show afterwards was entertaing as well as informative. This was truly an amazing evening for all ages, my family and I can not wait to enjoy another evening at the Smith Family Luau
Wonderful tour around the gardens! Fantastic birds and plants. The experience is worth the money let alone the food!
Second time attending this Luau. The food is what I come for. The entertainment and scenery is what I stay for. Family event for sure. Reasonably priced considering all that is included. And best of all, it is family run!
Food amazing, luau show seemed more las vegas than tradition. Left early. Very expensive for mediocre show.
The gardens are really nice and are the best part of the night. Food is okay at best. Open bar is a plus. The show was disappointing and didn't seem authentic.
Yes you should go see this. It’s a great time and you don’t have to purchase the dinner and show package. Call them direct and just purchase tickets to the show if you like, we did.
The Smith Family Luau was great! We were worried about attending on a rainy day but everything is covered and they even provide umbrellas for the short walk into the area. Food was amazing! We were told that sitting in the middle meant last to be released for food but it did not take long and there was plenty. The teriyaki beef and fried rice were amazing! Open bar during dinner had beer, wine, mai tais and mixed drinks. Bring a drink to the show as there is not a bar there.
Everything wrapped up by 9pm and the prearranged shuttle took us back to our hotel. Great for all ages!
Amazing food and serene environment. Ended up leaving before the show. Wished they did something to limit alcohol consumption. Table next to us was belligerently drunk. Considering each person was carrying back 3 drinks and slamming them, not surprised. We decided to call it then, but the food was amazing compared to the other luau we went to
Great little botanical garden. Well arranged in loops so you have a chance to see everything. Not too much elevation to climb, and no stairs. Plants are well marked, and well maintained.
Excellent meal lots of variety. Loved that they picked us up and dropped us off at our condo. The show was awesome. The garden area is a beautiful place to visit.
