Tex Drive-In reviews
28No visit to the Big Island is complete without stopping here for lunch. A long wait at the moment. But well worth it.
Wonderful malasadas. Observation window to watch them being made hot and fresh. Food is decent and the menu extensive. Lots of child friendly choices. Great stop travelling from one side of the island to the other.
The burgers are a definite must eat! Also if you're a loco Moco fan, the Mahi Moco is money! Oh yeah.finish it off with a malasada.
Rating a 4, but due to the selection and my preferences I will rate a 5. I would have done a different sauce or at least added mayo but thats me. They just had ketchup and mustard on them. It really does make a world of difference for the hamburgers. The double was too much for my fat belly. I also believe they used cornbread which was neat. The donut looking things look amazing. So if they aren't I will be changing this pointless rating lol. They look really bomb.
The burger was huge The fries were crisp. The influx of tourists and the long line is a tribute to the popularity of the malasadas
Very limited seating to accommodate the crowd size.
Came here for lunch and malasadas and was very impressed. The malasadas were amazing and the food was pretty good. I didn't really care for the mac salad, but the Korean chicken and shoyu chicken were both pretty good.
Malasadas. Think doughnut but without the wasted space of a hole. And bigger. And cube-shaped. And so absolutely awesome we drive from wherever we’re staying on the island to get them. I still love my hometown NC Krispy Kreme doughnuts but these *may* be even better.
Huge malasadas! Not the best I’ve ever had but definitely yummy and worth a try. My husband got the haupia (coconut) and I got the mango. Also tried the island oasis smoothie in pina colada and that was amazing! You get to see the malasadas being made which is super fun! Great outdoor seating area. We got there at 630am when they opened but they don’t serve the malasadas until 7am.
Great malasadas! Service was ok. If they could pass the message that the restrooms need better periodic maintenance 3 out of 4 bathrooms with no toilet paper and water all over the floor is not the thing
We were told that our trip to the big island would not be complete without fresh malasalas from Tex's and they were correct! They were so freah.warm.sugary sweet beauty! Mahalo Tex's for adding to our amazing trip on the Island!
Started coming here in 95'. Best malasadas on the island. Never leave hungry. Great food at a great price. Stop by for breakfast or come in after seeing Waipio Valley.
Terrible service. Waited in line for 10 minutes and they served customers who were standing behind me. The employees knew I was standing in line and they called the visitors up to the order window. I'm local and they seved the visitors who were waiting behind me. Not coming back to this place anymore.
MALASADAS! Holy smokes where have these been all my life? Why did I have to fly half way around the world to discover these!? Also, we went with the "drive-in" thing and had great burgers and fries and shakes. And someone in our party also had the Loco Moco which got a thumbs up as well. Great after a long day at the beach/hiking.
Get a malasada. They're delicious! Any flavor you enjoy will do. Options we had were chocolate, Bavarian creme, guava, coconut, and strawberry were all options we had.
The malasadas were warm and delicious. I had the custard filled and it was huge. Great gift shop next to it and be sure to drive to the back to park. Really nice patio area.
If u don't like mustard and ketchup on ur burgers. Remember to ask threm to hold it! The Polynesian Donuts were delish! Don't get the fountain soda it's straight up nasty!
Not many vegetarian options. Malasadas are delicious tho. Obviously the best spot for malasadas
Came for the Malasadas - awesome! We had filled (why wouldn’t you? Go for it!) mango and guava filling was delicious. Lots of drive in type foods which we didn’t try. Lots of parking and nice staff
Excellent Malasadas, food a little pricey. You can observe the baker making the Malasadas (hot donuts)
