I'm not a huge donut fan but we heard that we had to stop at Tex's for malasadas (Portuguese donuts) if we were in the area. I would skip it next time. The coconut filled malasada was good but similar to other donuts in my opinion.

If on Big Island up North (we stopped on our way to Rainbow/Akaka falls took the scenic route). And you love donuts, stop by and check out Tex! They also have a menu with lunch and breakfast options. You can even watch them fry and fill Malasadas (cream filled donut squares dusted in sugar) we loved the bavarian and chocolate fillings!

The best malasadas! Grew up eatting these and miss them so much. It's a definite must whenever we come back to visit the island.

As always, the malasadas are the best. Got them fresh from the oven. The haupia filling is my current favorite, but the Bavarian cream is a classic.

Pretty good food! Drive-In service is for donuts and drinks only. Fun gift shop, and a restroom!

Very good local comfort food at very reasonable prices. However, best known for their enormous stuffed malasadas. Eat immediately when warm and enjoy. Lilikoi and guava filled.onolicious!

Over all good. I was disappointed with the Korean chicken dinner. For the cost of $12.50, I got 3 chicken wings and 3 scoops of mash potatoes and gravy. (I didn't want the macaroni or garden salad.) Though the food was tasty, it was too much cost for too little food.
