Drake Diner reviews
30We loved it our server was amazing, Katie as we were having breakfast I learned quickly they are looking for quality staff, go in and pick up an application if you have diner experience! The Diner is a staple in Des Moines area, and after the pandemic they are busier then ever! Unemployment has run out so get up of the couch and get moving over to the Drake Diner to work
I recently visited after living in California for a couple years, and thought Drake Diner would be a great place for breakfast. Unfortunately, either the quality of the food is variable or it's just not nearly as good as I remember it. The eggs and hashbrowns were very bland, and the french toast was dry and flavorless. Service was great, though, and the staff are friendly. I'm hoping I just caught them on an off day.
We come in off a red eye from California and need a bite to eat. The food was comfort food and delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we asked for our check, we were informed that a kind man had PAID for our MEAL! This was a first for me, he had already left so we didn't get to thank him. If touched my heart that there are such thoughtful and selfless people in our world! That being said, the food was also delicious! Highly recommend!
This is our new breakfast/Lunch/Dinner spot when we come in town! Service was great and the food was AMAZING! I highly recommend everything!
Love a good old fashioned diner for breakfast foods and milkshakes. This place hit the spot! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles and my daughter loved her chocolate chip pancake!
Overall great food, the cake shake is a must try if you're here for the first time. Even among 4 people a single cake shake was able to fill 4 glasses, that's value. The "waffle and chicken" was decent, the waffle was dense and hard to swallow, probably made with pancake batter. If you're into it then you should order one but aside from that a great place.
The food was Excellent and our server Sarah was wonderful. Can't believe we've never been here before. We will definitely make this a stop every visit here.
Always good food, and on point service. Good variety in their menu, and breakfast all day, plus great deserts and malts. 5 star's!
I got the cake shake. Waitress told me she “slipped a lil extra cake in it. ” Despite this cake to ice cream ratio error, I quite enjoyed it.
Food was missing. Server seemed to be inconvenienced. Pancakes were overdone and left a bad aftertaste long after we left. The other food was mediocre and not worth the money. Very disappointed.
Great food and atmosphere, it was very busy but food still came in a reasonable amount of time. Very nice server!
Be ready to wait if you hit up this local hot spot. I don't think we've ever gone there and not had a wait, but the service is always on point. There is something to be said about a restaurant that can be this good with how much my wife and I have visited there. The wait is worth it.
Ordered an old favorite, cheese Frenchie and sweet potato fries. Loved it! The Cheese Frenchie was slightly over cooked but still delicious.
It’s a cool restaurant. A little slow but it was crowded. Food wears good but not great. Would definitely recommend it
Decent comfort food. Nice atmosphere. Family friendly. Great Drake neighborhood. Service was ok. Prices are as expected. No reason not to eat here.
Service was great, food was delicious! The best potato pancakes I have ever had! Prices were very reasonable.
Just a good, solid place to eat. Nothing fancy and no signature dishes but if you want a good comfort food, here you go!
Great vegetable cheese soup, French dip, and vanilla malt! Service was ok, they were pretty busy so it was understandable. Lots of options on the menu. We will be back.
I'd never been there before and the food was good and the desserts were awesome. Prices reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Ordered a Reuben and a cheeseburger to go. My husband brought it back to Mercy, where I was staying. Worst excuse for a Reuben I've ever seen. Not only was our order incorrect, the gravy soaked frys were flavorless garbage.
