Drake Diner, Des Moines IA

A local classic. Came here recently with a friend who had moved away and it was just as good as he remembered.

This used to be a great place to go. Now the food always takes an hour to come, it's not very good, and it's overpriced. After two experiences where we had very long waits for small parties, I'm not coming here anymore.

My favorite restaurant in Des Moines for atmosphere and good ol American food. Art deco diner with a classic chrome lunch counter, three rows of cozy booths, and a sprawling, screened and roof verandah - three choices! An excellent beer list but also excellent milk shakes - a happy conumdrum.

Biannual visit. My breakfast order (at 7 at night) was warm, not hot, but still good. Onion rings at other end of table were "cold. " Service good. Very clean restroom.

The very best malts you're going to find anywhere! We had a great server as well. Nice selection of comfort food.

Awesome dinner location with the family. Friendly staff, great food, fun kids menu, and amazing desserts!

Terrible service. Our waiter was short and rude until it was time to pay. I despise poor customer service.

Great prices, great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, awesome neighborhood. I really liked Drake's and I would love to come back if I am ever in Des Moines again.

Yum! Cool place! It was around 8 at night, the staff seemed a bit tired, and there were a couple of uncleaned off tables and straws and napkins on the floor, but all in all real good food and service.

Food was just ok. Mac and cheese has no flavor at all. Chicken parmesan sauce tasted like it was straight from a can. Hit beef wasn't really hot. On the plus side onion rings we're good.
