21IRS Deducted money from my federal refund for a payment to Iowa Department of Revenue which I believe is in error. Over a month has gone by without response to calls and email.
I just spoke to Michael in the sales tax department. He was THE most helpful person I have EVER had to deal with at the IA DOR. The DOR needs more people like him! Great job, Michael! I appreciated your help & knowledge.
Very slow about processing tax refunds. If the Feds can process my return in under two weeks, why does it take the state over a month?
Call center is so bad. Take 4 - 6 weeks to process POA (do not accept direct fax over) and agent who is in charge of the account says she would get back to us but never get back to us. Worst state department of revenue service ever.

Haven't lived or worked in Iowa for almost three years and found I had five hundred dollars withdrawn from my checking account by the department of revenue. Have I been able to get through to talk to someone about this? NO.
Well I received a letter asking for information on my wife. This is strange because what they are asking for is on the amended return. I have called and left messages for a Emily and also have emailed her but not heard anything and it says I have to respond in 15 days. It's hard to do that when no one will call you back or email you.
Why am I sitting here, waiting and waiting for someone to pick up the phone?
This problem solely occurs because Iowa is a BLOOD RED State and all the elected GOP reps campaign only on: "When I am elected I promise to cut your state taxes. "
Therefore there is ALWAYS less money to hire more professionals to pick up a phone.
I am certain I could EASILY train a 7 year old to pick up a ringing phone.
SHAME ON EVERY ELECTED OFFICIAL IN MY FINE STATE OF IOWA WHO DESIRE TO GET RE-ELECTED; THAN HELPING OUT THE CITIZENS AND TAX PAYERS OF IOWA.

Not easy to work with or many options. Barely hear anything until the want something from you or it's to late to fix without a fee. 2 years later you send a letter for overpayment on tax returns.
This place did not answer my phone call after waiting for about 2 hours. I wonder if I can petition to get this building bulldozed and out of sight
The people answering the phone will not listen and will instead just keep robotically asking for payment details. If you can't answer my simple questions then you're not getting anything out of me.
Terrible service after an hour wait. 'Russ' talked down to me like is wasn't worth his time because I had trouble with the new GovConnect platform. I gave up listening to his berating me to call my attorney for better guidance. Worthless State 'department'.
I have been trying to change my address with them for THREE years and no one seems to get it done. I paid some quarters of sales tax late and had late fees which I take total responsibility for - but I never received any notices and had zero knowledge I owed. All while it accrued interest and went to collections - because they kept sending to an address I haven’t lived at in 3 years! Ridiculous… and their mistake cost me money. Also, don’t expect to get anyone on the phone who can help.
I have been trying to reach “my agent” for over a week now. Her mailbox is full so I can’t leave a voicemail. I can’t drive my car because I have to get my taxes paid and she will not answer her phone. What’s she getting paid for? !? !? ! Get better employees.

Ive literally been on the phone for an hour and NO ONE is picking up my call. Ive called 3 times previously and no one picked up my call. I have no other choice than to email and thats IF they even answer me back in a timely fashion. They tried taking out 200$ without my authorization and no payment plan. Thats what im calling about, to schedule a payment plan because them taking out money without contacting me for what is VERY STRANGE.
I've been on hold for over an hour pass business hours. They just left me hanging on the phone and didn't answer and decided to go home and leave me hanging on the line.
Have tried for 7 years to get information on supposed owed tax. No one seems to be able to provide any information but has no problem sending levy notices, penalizing driver's license renewals, and not returning phone calls. What a joke!
When I call, I always get a man named "Russ. " He is so helpful and knows what he is talking about. He makes these calls WAY less painful. I call the general number and get him when I need help with govconnect. I have also gotten him in the past when calling for help with Efile and pay.
Would like to know why you guys are temporarily closed and why I got a certified letter saying my payment was late even though I have automatic pay you guys take the payment out on the 23rd and took it out the 27th that’s not my fault I would like to pay my whole balance because I’m not dealing with this I have other bills to tend to and this is very disrespectful and I shouldn’t have to pay the state anything anyways FYI to the government quit taking hard working peoples money when all of us “working people “ been working through this whole virus situation get it together and answer the phones AND ALSO WORK ON YOUR WEBSITE TO the website (go figure) has some technical issues to!
