I am a repeat customer at this clinic. 2 craniotomies by Dr. Gachiani who has unfortunately moved on. The Dr they chose to replace him could practice 100 years and never fill his shoes. The neurology department
has gone down to 2.1 stars. I would not watch a movie or eat at a restaurant that had 2.1 stars, let alone go to a clinic for my neurological issues. Mercy is laying off people they say it’s due to the “pandemic, inflation and payer reimbursement” KCCI. I’ve chosen to take my healthcare to another well known Des Moines medical institution and havie been pleased with the care that myself & family have received. Many staff have commented that they have a lot of patients that come there from Mercy. If the above reasons are truly the responsible for their layoffs why isn’t it a problem for the other major hospital in the DM area? I still see 3 Drs at other Mercy locations but this clinic is in my rear view mirror.

Dr. Hughes is always attentive, listens, and problem solves. The parking was terrible in February of 2023 but my appointment was productive.

My wife was diagnosed with MS over two years ago, she has seen her doctor twice since then. Recently had an MRI back in September 2022, has not been able to see her doctor to get the official results as they keep rescheduling the appointment. Finally had one scheduled for February, they called her again today and wanted to reschedule it for JUNE! What is going on? !? !

She is suppose to have two per year, but needs to wait 9 months to get results?

Maybe billing for services should be tied to getting the results? And yes they are on the portal, but they are very medically detailed and instead of guessing what it all means, the doctor needs to explain it.

Time to find a doctor that cares about their patients.

Once again Mercy delivers ‘top quality’ patient care. What a joke.

I had an appointment scheduled for November 10 they called and canceled it.due to being hacked. On December 1st I called to check on my appointment and they rescheduled for Dec 12. I go to my appointment just to be told they schedule me in the wrong department. I went to rescheduled in the "right" department and was told I wasn't allowed to reschedule they will call me when they get to it and told me to just leave. Like I am supposed to trust them now? I talked to Liz the manager and she was rude and condescending. Telling me not to be upset after I drove over an hour to a appointment THEY schedule wrong and got told to kick rocks, you can't rescheduled. They wasted my money time and told me I am not allowed to be upset. They got a referral on September 22 but only submit the request to my insurance today Dec, 12 as you can see on the note Liz gave me to get me to leave. Now apparently i have to wait 7 months from today not the day they were originally sent the referral because they don't want to deal with me. I will be shocked if they call me back with their track record.they made it clear today they don't care about their patients time or financial situations.

The office staff have zero sense of time, urgency, or getting back to people. What a joke. I waited 3 months for a referral and another 3 months to be seen. When I arrived I was told there was zero record of me having an appointment scheduled. Considering I missed class and used PTO for work, in addition to driving over a half an hour from my location, I was not going to wait an extra 3 months to be seen. After waiting in the office for an extra half hour while they looked for my mysteriously nonexistent appointment, I was thankfully seen by a doctor there. I was grateful. While he wasn't at all in a good mood, I appreciated his time. I was then supposed to be scheduled for an EEG. I was told it would take a week maybe two for them to schedule and get back to me and I might need to "remind them. " After 3 weeks I made calls but was continuously put on hold for 10+ min. I just made a call (now 4 weeks) and was sent to voicemail. How am I to trust that anyone will get back to me in a timely manner? Meanwhile I've had a seizure since then. Lot of help that is.

The nurse was rude, and the doctor was far worse! I will not go back to that office. I don't reccomend going there if you have any other options!

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I’ve been waiting for 3 month for test results I called last month and they said they’d get back to me, yet still haven’t. I have to call on my days off because I know I’m going to sit on hold for 20-30 minutes plus. I deal with doctor visits almost monthly and never dealt with worse than here. Seriously recommend you elsewhere

I wish I could comment about the care they provided me.but I can't because I was never able to schedule an appointment. There were issues with receiving my referrals, hold times, not returning calls, computer problems, etc. I contacted their patient care team first before this and they assured me they'd get to the bottom of things, but they never did for whatever reasons. I never felt like a patient to them, just a customer, which is what the wait messages referred to me as constantly while on hold, a "customer". So, I reached out to another place and will be going there. I hope others have better results.

UPDATE: I can't reply below, but if they would have read this message, they'd know I already tried to resolve this before this.

If I could I would give this place 0 stars, simply put I need a brain MRI. I’ve had severe shooting pains, I’ve fallen and passed out multiple times my vision has been impaired I can’t control my eyes sometimes and even my work won’t let me be there because of this issues which I work with knives at a slaughterhouse.
I got in and saw doctor puricelli, who did not listen to me and instantly tried to just prescribe me medications and said it was migraines. He didn’t take the time to ask me questions or listen to the 4 plus months I have been having issues. His bedside manner is horrible and I’ve heard of many patients leaving his care. It took them over a month to even send in a request for the mri and then come to find out it was denied because he sent no backing information needed for it other than migraines! I’ve seen muiltiple doctors and they believe it’s in my brain but the one who is suppose to help didn’t even listen. I am extremely frustrated, the staff takes weeks sometimes months to even call back. I requested to see a new doctor and she said it may take time which is absolutely ridiculous because I’ve complained multiple times about this treatment.

Unbelievable! Do to a cyber attack WEEKS AGO I am unable to receive care from my a neurologist! This is the craziest thing I’ve experienced. I have seen a Neurologist here for a few years and am on daily meds as long as “as needed meds”. I am in need of an appointment asap. I called today to get an appointment with my Neurologist, I am in desperate need of a medication adjustment. I was told today that die to their cyber attack I have to call back every week to see when their system is up. In the meantime I have to suffer? What do I do? I am in tears. I am in pain. This is debilitating and I need to see a Neurologist. I have been able to see other Dr. ’s at Mercy since the cyber attack they have t handled it this poorly.

Would give zero stars if I could. I was seen in September due to symptoms of MS. Was to be scheduled for an MRI to rule out/ confirm. It is now November and no one seems to know anything about my referral for testing. On top of that, it takes weeks to get any response from this facility IF anyone ever answers the phone in first place.

I have been pushed back for an appointment since June and they have canceled twice! I was supposed to be seen october 19th and that was canceled and they still have yet to reschedule me because their systems are down so they were supposed to call back to schedule and never called. I was going to have the doctor fill out a waiver form for me for medpharm at that appointment but because yet again I wasn't seen I asked to have it emailed to me. I was told yesterday it would be sent and it never came so I called again today and was assured I would receive it today and guess what it never came! I just need some relief I have MS and it's the only thing that helps my spasticity. Just unprofessional. How hard is it to send an email? !

This place deserves 0 stars. Dr Purcelli is incompetent. He has terrible personal hygeine and an unwillingness to learn about disorders that affect people. He said that bigger people with nerve issues with nerve tests are just fat and faking. Doesn't take issues seriously, and rushes Medicaid patients out of the office because they don't have good insurance. If you want to be treated like a pest vome here. Otherwise run far away.

I love my neurological team here! Dr. Jacoby is the BEST Neurologist for Migraines, Post Concussive Syndrome and more. His staff is always there for me and I deive halfway across the state juat to see Him!

Dr. Jacoby is a Specialist that very thorough! It's very obvious that it is important to him that his patients are aware of his thoughts and that he wants us as his patient to know exactly what's going on or perhaps could be going on, why it could be going on, where it's perhaps coming from.etc etc. Like this man is very educated and experienced and you can feel it from the moment he greets you! I definitely 100% recommend him!

Went for a follow up and the system was down. The nurse rudely asked us what had changed in less than a week ago when we saw him. We hadn't been in the office since last Oct. Then when the Dr came in, he had no answers for us after waiting since Oct because he said he'd have to have all the records to see what he thought. NO ANSWERS at all! Referred us to IA City and it's been a week of not hearing anything. We called and NOTHING had been referred! Not worth the money or time to go for no help!

Everything went well, and I was nervous after reading all the bad reviews. All staff was friendly and I liked the doctor.

Update: Had my first Botox treatment for stroke related pain yesterday and it went great. Dr Kohout did a wonderful job answering all my questions and explaining what to expect. Everyone, nurses receptionist, etc.were friendly and likeable.

Now that I've been there more than once, I don't get all the hate. 02/07/2022

This practice and staff are horrible. They are not knowledgeable, not friendly, not personable, etc. The nurse struggled to get my blood pressure so she pumped the cuff up at least 5 times until eventually I lost circulation in my arm. She didn’t know what any of my medications were for/know how to pronounce them. At one point she said “I guess I’m not even sure what your appointment is for today. ” The doctor, Mark Puricelli, seemed very out of it. He kept pulling his mask down and was acting like he couldn’t breathe. He offered no useful medical advice for my migraines and told me I would have to live with them forever. He could not answer a single one of my questions. He went against my trusted OB doctor’s advice for a certain medication and told me it is not safe to take while pregnant when, in fact, it is. I was not impressed at all and will never return.
