Tomaso's Pizza reviews
33Ordered late for pick up. The girl was not friendly. The pizza was great as usual. I will go again, but it will be the one in Hiawatha or Marion,
Best thin crust pizza in the Mid-West!
Update 6/17/2021 I just got reminded how good this pizza is!
We had not had Tomaso’s pizza for some time. The other night we decided to order carry out. We ordered a 3 topping Detroit style pizza. They said 45 minutes for pick up, when I got there to pick it up they said another 12 minutes. A total of 67 minutes later I had the pizza in hand. That’s not the worse part.the pizza was horrible! Too much crust, not enough toppings or sauce.
We love Roscoe’s Brookville pizza (similar to a Detroit) and we love Bop’s Detroit style. Needless to say we will never go back to Tomaso’s again. Someone needs to tell them they are not the only pizza joint in town and to step up their game if they want to stay in business.
This is awesome pizza and during this crazy Covid time it is only available via drive up and take away. Super easy to order by phone and the pizza was ready when they said it would be.
Until today this was my favorite place to get pizza.
No more!
Customer service hung up on me, because I asked who I was speaking with?
I won’t pay these prices and be treated like that!
No more Tomasso’s for me. Done!
Ordered a pizza the other night, went to pick it up and they couldn't find my order. As it was 15 minutes until closing one of the guys came out, apologized and re-took my order, even read it back to me. Sat in my car waiting and after 45 minutes, went to the door and the sane guy that took my order hollered, "We're closed! " I replied, " Dude! You're the one that took my order on the misplaced pizza, why would you do that if you weren't going to make the pizza? " He came back with, "Sorry man, we're closed. " Wow.first and last visit to this place. One star review only because I couldn't give zero stars.
One of the best pizza places in town! Excellent thin crust. Always been a favorite. Never have had any issues on any order.
Just got some take out. The Detroit Pizza is so good! The crust is so perfectly crisp yet soft! The hot wings are amazing!
You get what you pay for, for the most part. It's very expensive, and while they do use better ingredients to make up for it, imo its not worth it. The pizzas ranging from 20 to 30 bucks, I've had authentic Italian pizza that rocked my world for about the same price. They also encompass a bar space there, which I think is pretty neat
Their "New York Thin Crust" pizza has all the marks of a deep dish pizza, just with thinner crust. It's clear they don't know what New York style pizza is like. It was overly sauced, they put the cheese on first, then poured the sauce on top, and it was cut into squares.
Now the pizza wasn't bad by any means, but it's clear that the deep dish is as far as their knowledge on pizza goes. If you go in expecting this then you will have a better experience, but I was not impressed after my first, and most likely last visit.
This is the type of pizza place your great, great, great grandparents ate pizza at. As soon as you get into the parking lot, all you can smell is pizza! Best place for pizza ever!
Cozy atmosphere, great service, and incredible pizza! More expensive than your box chain pizza place but well worth the price! You must try this pizza!
This place is the Real Deal. Got my first taste of Tomaso's about 15 years ago after a grueling 6 hour bike ride. Thought my buddy and I could handle the large Mombo Combo, but sadly we were defeated. My wife and I stop by about 6 times a year to get our Tomaso's fix. They truly live up to their Mission Statement. "Make Good Pizza"
This was our first experience there so we weren't aware of the business and long waits. There was a mishap where half of us got our food but the other half the order was lost and never made, even though the staff reassured us it was coming. The manager was great in making it up to us by giving us cheese bread and gift cards. The food we did get was delicious. My friend LOVED his sausage thin crust.
Really good Detroit deep dish pizza. The sauce pretty freaking great and of course there is plenty of cheese. As for the place itself, it's nice and small, which helps the cozy feel that you are while you are there. Employees seem like good people. Only problem with the place is it's a bit expensive, but if you're looking for really good pizza around Cedar Rapids, this is the first place to look.
Just moved here from the western suburbs of Chicago where I lived for 43 years. Never liked Chicago style pizza. I had lived in Toledo, Ohio from 1962 until 1970 as a teenager and absolutely grew up on New York style pizza. Going to Tomaso's was amazing. The pizza tasted just like I remembered eating as a teen. I won't be eating anywhere else when I want pizza! I give it 5+ stars.
Favorite pizza in Cedar Rapids. I love the different type of crust you can get. Good flavor and not to greasy. This is me and my wife's go-to pizza place in the area!
Great Detroit style pizza with a simple no nonsense motto posted on the wall. "Make Great Pizza" and they did!
Honestly one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. The Chicago deep dish pizza was not even close to the Chicago style taste, it was more like thick cardboard with cheese on top. I would not recommend this pizza place.
We have been getting pizza here for years and love it unless it is sometimes over cooked. I have noticed lately they are barely putting any cheese or toppings on. It's rather pricey to begin with- please increase you toppings. I'd give it a five star if it wasn't so expensive.
P. S. It never pays to speak to the manager/owner Tom. He is the rudest and most belligerent person I've ever spoken with. One time our pizza was burnt (black on the bottom and edges and tasted burnt) and he tried to tell me it wasn't burnt - this is the way we always cook them. How would he know? We go there about once a week and I hadn't seen him in there in months!
If Tom expects perfection he needs an attitude adjustment. You don't treat customers like they are your employees - which is a bad way to treat anyone.
