Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital (VA) reviews
21 I have been to this facility multiple times over the past six months helping a 87 year old friend get to his appointments. We live about 90 minutes fro the hospital. I have been with him for audiology and eye appointments and am amazed at how great the facility and staff are on each visit. He had cataract surgery earlier today and his outcome was amazing. All of the staff seemed to genuinely care about him and were sincere in thanking him for his service.
I read some of the other reviews that are posted and I was always under the impression that care at the VA was substandard. That’s not what I have observed in Columbia or at the office in Sedalia, MO. It’s 1st class care for our Warriors. Thank you for all that you do for our Veterans.
Better off not going in, and just suffering. While the KCMO VA is terrible in its own right, you're still better driving up there.
The overall care and thoroughness is outstanding. Always treated well and everyone seems to care.
I have never had a bad experience with any va facility. I am grateful for the care I receive. This country owes me nothing for my service, yet it continues to care for me long after the fact.
Absolutely the worst VA that I've ever been to. The grown manchild Dr Daniel strode believes that it's appropriate to improperly medicate his patients.
The man in the er was very rude several times to us and even said he wasn't there to be nice to people. He was heavy set older man. Cream color top and blue pants Is what he has on. Very rude from the beginning and till the end.
I went to the audiology. The Dr.had to send in both my hearing aids. She is very knowledgeable and was very respectful.
My Husband has had the best care from Harry S. Truman (VA) Hospital! Parking is much easier since the adding a second garage.
I am so thankful that I live in Missouri and am able to utilize the services of the Truman VA Hospital network. I have never met a more dedicated and professional group of people in the medical field anywhere! They should be the template of how to serve our Veteran Heroes! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I find the hospital clean and friendly especially with the volunteer staff. The staff above the nurse position is generally lacking in competence, friendliness and promptness. If you notice the responses to negative reviews the Va pushes you to the patient advocates. There is very little accountability from the offending healthcare providers. I have to drive 3 hours round trip to pick up a medication that is always delivered to me since 2011. So I payed the price in Vietnam and still paying the price. I have torn hamstring and advised not to sit a lot. Well 3 hours in a car will hurt me. I believe the VA is a manufacturing company. Their product is stress and they make sure they liberally give everyone large doses soften. Sorry I wish I could be more positive. Don’t tell me to contact patient advocate it’s not their fault!
Unbelievable service definitely a extraordinary place for veterans 5 star across the board for shur!
It's the va. Some times it's great. Sometimes it's absolutely horrible. You never see the same person twice. Pretty despicable if you ask me. But the good ones you do find make it totally worth it.
I have had many appointments at this facility. They have always taken good care of my medical needs. Drs and nurses have always been very good. Fully explain any and all diagnosis. Have also had a surgery performed here and was very happy with care and outcome. I just wanted to mention that I have never experienced the problems all the negative reviews talk about. Yea sometimes there is a wait, but isn't there everywhere and nothing too crazy and Dr's have been more than willing to give me all the time needed for my appointments.
Seriously, you People with your negative reviews must be the kind that are hard to please. I used to go to to this hospital for all my medical needs. Not even one time was I even close to being disappointed. I always had the very best care. The only reason I left was because my doctor, Dr. Randall moved to another state. I live 3 hours away and wanted something closer. However, I am considering reconnecting with a cardiologist at Truman Memorial so that I don't have to worry about getting pre-authorization to see a cardiologist outside the VA.
Not a very good VA facility compared to others I've been treated at. The only doctors I've ever seen here were students running between classes. I had a technician lecture me on the importance of getting right with God before I die while having an EKG for chest pain. I had a nurse complain about there being too may liberals in Columbia, and she doesn't like or want to live near liberals. (I never talk about religion or politics in public). The eye clinic has failed to write a good prescription for eye glasses twice (so far). It's not that the glasses weren't made correctly - the prescription itself was wrong - although VA supplied glasses are generally lacking as well. The student doctors are generally ignorant of common veterans' health issues - Gulf War related illnesses are a general mystery to them.
The facility is clean, reasonably up to date, and being expanded, so that's nice. Good facilities. Terribly unprofessional staff.
I’m stuck out here 12B, no one cares about my health. Haha, Boom. Gone. Test I’m your done and gone. That’s not right.
This place is nothing more than than a learning facility, with lazy supervisors. Stack on top of the primary care docs, that are finished with their career, just to grab retirement after 3 years.
They promise to provide excellent care but repetitively fails. Patient advocates are worthless.
I have been using HST Veterans Hospital since I retired in 2006. I have always received 5 Star sevice anytime I have been at the hosital. I was recently an inpatient on the 3rd floor with double pneumonia. My nurses Brian and Amy and their aide Jessica should definitely be recognized for the excellent service they gave me. Between monitoring how I felt and ensuring I had plenty of ice water to drink, I could not have asked for anything better.
Constant exposure to impersonal, neglectful, and passive aggressive staff. Employees are all about those benefits and not about their patients. No VA clinics dispersed in more rural areas for convenience or a chance at better service, incorrect or omission of information being put into patient records without their knowledge, doctors staring at their computers the entirety of visits, wait times after check in reaching up to or past 30 minutes, staff negatively talking about patients, nurses not wearing gloves or washing their hands before they touch your IV, doctors treating all vets like they are opioid addicts, and appointments cut short if it’s clock out time. The list goes on and on and it most certainly doesn’t align with the VA’s Vision and Core Values at all. Extremely disappointing and unsat.
