Compassion Veterinary Center - General Practice and Urgent Care, Highland NY

I honestly can’t thank the amazing staff for their support and compassion during one of the hardest times in my life. My daughter and I had to put our cat down and from the moment I called I felt at peace with my extremely hard decision. I was not rushed, I was not stressed we were comforted and consoled. Also extremely reasonable pricing the name Compassion Veterinary Center is a true testament to their care. I highly highly recommend them and I will be forever grateful for the care they showed my best friend.

Dr Krouse is wonderful, compassionate, and caring person and a excellent veterinarian. Even though I had to put my beloved Pierre down. Dr Krouse let me know it was the right decision. She was straight forward. Explain everything in full detail. And made my decision without feeling guilty or wrong in the very hard decision I had to make. I know my best friend and my companion is no longer suffering. The decision is always hard but the doctor and her assistants mad me feel at peace with my decision. And I know for a fact if she could in anyway give my Pierre quality of life she would have done anything in her power. Im so grateful to her for helping me make that decision for all the right reasons. My baby is at peace and so am I.

I can’t say enough good there’s to many words for these professional people.

They have taken great care of our Dog who tore his CCL. They did the surgery, and also helped with his anxiety. Always answer the phone and call back. Everyone is super nice

There is no other place to take your pet! Our Rottweilers don’t mind at all going there, quite the contrary, they say hi and love everyone at CVC! THANK YOU for always being there for us!

From the time we walked in the door everyone was caring and service was excellent and very prompt

My dog had puppies and the mother isn't doing her job we almost lost one puppy. Thank GOD they saw my puppy and she is on the mend.

Amazing vet hospital! I had to take my kitty in for vomiting after my vet was closed. My concerns were all listened to and my questions answered. The whole staff is so kind.

I went here because my cat was having breathing issues. After a $950 examination, and testing, I was told my cat had a Uterus blockage and bad infection, that needed immediate emergency surgery from a Vet hospital that had an ultrasound. I was given a choice of 2, After a one hour drive to the one mist recommended, I was told by the new Vet that ultrasound was needed, and for a mere $4900, an emergency operation could be done. The result was no blockage or severe infection. The xray was read wrong. My cat is still having breathing issues. I was set up for a referral fee.

Came in with a heartbreaking situation on a Saturday and every staff member working was warm, welcoming, friendly and understanding of my situation. They are named Compassion for a reason! This was the first time I had ever been there and I will be returning with my other two cats in the future!
I beyond highly recommend this veterinary center!

My older dog was in pain and turned down by Ark animal hospital. They didn't want to be bothered. Compassion took him, treated him and he is better than ever. No more pain and acting like a pup again. Thank you

I would highly recommend Compassion Veterinary Center. Our dog jumped and hurt himself Friday night. I called our vet on Saturday and couldn't get in, and they told us to call here. I am SO glad we did. The staff was so sweet, and took the time to go over all our questions and concerns. Never did I ever feel pushed pressured or rushed. We did have to return the next day for x-rays, but they did a full exam and bloodwork to give us pain medication. Dr Krouse was on point with her diagnosis, and x-rays confirmed. Noah was so super nice and accommodating. The tech was so nice as well. We came back today and was greeted again, with sure kindness. Dr Spaccarelli came in to go over final diagnosis and to review our options. They assured us and put any concerns at ease. Highly recommend!

I didn't know this place was here until my vet's office suggested it for an emergency my vet couldn't get us in for over the weekend. I called to check on availability and was told to just come in and wait. I didn't wait long and the staff was fantastic and the vet listened to me and was very kind to my kitten. I'm glad to know we have this place close to home for those of us in the area.

Hello all fur parents I am not one to write reviews, but I must say I am compelled to write this precious review I live in Queens NY, and back on 07/25/23 I took a mini vacation in Port Ewen NY, my husband myself and my fur daughter Bella went for a few days house hunting, I really don't know what compelled me to look on Google for veterinary near us but I did and found Compassion my fur baby Bella is 9 years old and she has been battling skin lesions and scabs her entire 9 years I been to a ton of vet's in my neighborhood 9 years no one helped me, I guess that was God's doing when I was compelled to Google vets when I was upstate, long story short Dr. Nicholas Spaccarelli give my fur child a thorough check up and diagnosed her and change her diet and give her antibiotics and other medications and today 09/07/2023 I had to come here and write how grateful I am Dr. Nicholas you are a Rock star my baby is free of all her skin lesions you and your team are God sent don't ever change if I have to drive all the way to Highland NY for you to see my child I am coming thank you once again you and your entire staff are amazing God Bless

We came for a routine wellness visit because we just moved from Buffalo with our kitty. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, informative and treated our cat like family. The checkup was very thorough yet affordable! The office itself was also very clean.

I had to bring my dog in for an emergency appointment and everyone was very accommodating and kind. I especially loved the vet who was great with my dog.

Went in Sunday needing to get my puppy's ear evaluated which clearly appeared to be infected. So great to have a place to go on the weekend especially on a Sunday afternoon. The place is clean, bright and spacious. All the staff was pleasant and caring including the vet. Had to go back today, Tues due to ear not improving and now her eye had some swelling. Couldn't get an appt with my own vet! Was told to "call back tomorrow and maybe we can get you in". This is an eye issue, you don't wait! No local clinic could get us in. Went back down to Compassion Vet Center which is 45 mins away but well worth it. The owner of the clinic himself took care of us. He noted that "since I was jus there Sunday, there wouldn't be another visit fee". No one does that anymore! He cleaned out her ears again and changed her antibiotic. Didn't charge me for that either. The swelling of the eye was due to a scratch which must have happened Monday at doggie daycare. I walked out only charged for the ointment therapy. Everyone again was so pleasant and caring including the owner. Even though it's a 45 min hike each way, will most likely be transitioning my pup's care down to them.

Noah, Dr. Krouse and staff were welcoming, expert, caring and compassionate when we brought our dog in after he took a big fall late at night for a check up. Having not previously been a patient when all other emergency vets in the area were booked up we were welcomed and didn't have to wait for hours. Could not recommend this practice more highly. So grateful.

Excellent staffing, extremely clean, and clear billing. A good vet practice is like a good mechanic shop- peace of mind in expertise AND not feeling you're getting robbed or finding out you got robbed later. This practice is a keeper! After trying everything to treat at home, my dog had to have nail surgery for a deep split /exposed quick. After reviewing why those usual tricks were not going to work in this case, two options were explained to me clearly. The Dr.offered to make up two itemized bills to compare as well. I never felt pressured or judged when weighing my options for treatment in thinking realistically and financially. Everyone was so nice and explained everything with care and understanding allowing me to make a clear decision. As other reviews have mentioned, the cost of services here is reasonable and fair. I've unfortunately been taken advantage before and lost trust in other areas vets. I'm so happy to have Compassion as our vet now!

Our cat was badly injured and we weren't sure if he was going to make it. The doctor was so kind and compassionate and very sensitive while discussing everything on front of our 8 year old.
Unfortunately, he was beyond help and we needed to have him put to sleep. The staff was so incredibly kind and caring. They let us sit with him in a comfortable and peaceful room until we were ready. They did everything in their power to make a heartbreaking situation go as smoothly as possible. We are so very grateful.
