Danford's Hotel & Marina, Port Jefferson NY

I am not sure where the renovations occurred in 2017 but they certainly weren’t in the Galley Building. Our home is undergoing “demo day” and being in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, we decided it was best I went to stay at a hotel. When I arrived I asked the front desk if I could see the room before checking in and the lady (who I found out later was the manager) told me she was the only one here and couldn’t leave her post. She directed me to the website to look at pictures. I sat in the lobby and tried several times to get onto their site and it wouldn’t load. Being so tired from carrying this belly around I booked a room. I checked in and the room smelled very musky and just mildewy. I called down and asked to be moved or if they could spray the room. They sprayed. I called a few minutes later and asked if I could be switched to another room, I mentioned being pregnant and the sensitivity to smells. They said they were “close to selling out”. A few hours later the AC unit started making this horrible banging noise. I recorded it for proof. It lasted a total of 3min. I called down to the desk to voice my concern bc it was so loud and disturbing that I didn’t want it to happen overnight. Again I asked for my room to be changed and they said they were sold out. They offered to send an engineer over but by then I was getting ready for bed and I do not feel comfortable having a man I do not know in my hotel room, so I declined. I went to take a shower and as I got out I noticed there was a patch of MOLD on the ceiling. Now, I know I couldn’t be the first and only person who noticed this. I’m not saying someone isn’t doing their job but I worked as a front desk manager myself for over 10years and I did weekly room checks of all the rooms. Not to mention, housekeeping should have noticed this patch of mold. So if they did know and did nothing about it, WHY WOULD THEY CHECK SOMEONE INTO THIS ROOM? Let alone a visibly pregnant person. I am extremely pissed and would hope Danfords does right by its guests and gets these issues fixed. I on the other hand wouldn’t pay for another night here.

Not all of the rooms have a great view but the presidential suite comes with living room and dining room with bedroom on a separate upper floor. Great stay

Visited for a professional reception held in one of their event rooms. The food was exceptional with attentive staff. It was right on the waterfront. Metered parking is conveniently located nearby and is very reasonably priced.

The manager Steve lack compassion and competence. My credit card was wrongfully charged for drinks that were not mine. Instead of the manager correcting the issue, he decided to blame me and call security on my husband. What an absolutely horrendous establishment.

Stayed in the "J Building. " Slightly confusing to find while also looking for parking. There are no signs and you're going off a small map that is given to you at the front desk with your room key. Double room was nice. Sink was cracked, looked like someone attempted to fix it with caulk and gave up. Heat lamp in bathroom didn't work and 3 out of the several different outlets did not work, regardless of which way the switch on the wall was. Most didn't even hold the power plug for my phone charger, it just fell out. Only good thing was the shower, my goodness the amount of water that came out was insane and amazing! Like showering under a waterfall!

The main building seemed nice, as did the bar. Didn't spend much time there. All and all, I don't think it justified the 200$ a night. However conveniently placed right next to the Port Ferry exit/entrance was a plus if youre traveling. The village offers plenty of things to eat. The front desk staff seemed friendly but I overheard them complaining about a incoming wedding party (ours) and how they (staff) would likely be stuck at the bar because that is where everyone would most likely end up. (Not the case, HOWEVER) the 25$ cover charge for the Halloween party that was happening the night we arrived made most of our wedding party steer clear.

Danford's has beautiful views, and the common spaces in the hotel are decorated in a contemporary, beachy style. However, the rooms are in need of an update.carpets cleaned, updated fixtures and furnishings. The age of the property is showing, and the rooms don't currently meet the standard of the rest of the hotel.

We had a second floor room, spacious and comfortable. I used the Spa for an 80 min massage. Also the gym for a half hour

Excellent place to have any affair there.weddings, birthdays, business meeting's, religious celebration's, keren at the front desk is very professional and helpful.friendy staff all around.

Danfords was gracious enough to allow our daughters wedding after her orignal venue at Old Fields Club was flooded out from a Nor Easter on Oct. 27 th. The Old Field wait staff served the wedding guests and Danfords accommadated 154 last minute guests. They were great! Thanks to Danfords Inn!

Definitely the best Restaurant, Bar, and location in the Harbor at Port Jeff. Every time I visit my family we stop in to get Breakfast or Lunch. I've turned so many people on to this place and have gotten so many thank you's in return. 5 plus stars

This beautiful hotel is in the heart of Port Jeff, walking distance from many shops and restaurants. It is beautiful, well groomed and maintained. The staff is knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating.

This was such a lovely place to stay at for a weekend get away. I don’t know what people are complaining about because the room, food, service and staff were all excellent. The room we booked was super quaint and comfortable. The Wave restaurant was absolutely delicious, and service was great. Very attentive staff, and didn’t have to wait long to be seated. The staff at the spa were also really nice and accommodating. The front desk receptionists were so sweet, and explained where the building our room was in and also the details of the package we purchased. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I will definitely come back to stay and dine here again.
