29Old school New York tourist scam: You go to return the car, their office is closed in the middle of a work day. You go back at the next available opportunity to return the car and the price triples. Mine went from $155.06 to $456.28. These scams were outlawed back in the 90's but with Covid, they're back.
This is our first time renting a car at this location. The process of picking up the car in the morning was seamless. We get the got within 10 minutes upon arrival. We were running slightly behind when returning the car but the manager Julian was kind enough to still take our returned card even tho the location was already closed (we were 20 mins late). We appreciate the friendly staff and experience!
Shady, and two faced. Lucky I'm not gonna mention any names here but they deal with Ghetto shady insurance con artist and autobody shops that do horrible work. Pretty sad and disgusting. Surprised there still on and doing business.
Really small selection of vehicles and they're not particularly helpful about upgrades. Don't expect to get treated like your loyalty status means anything.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! Booked a mid sized was offered a compact and I said no. They said they did had a ford focus, but it was a full size price (already $180 for 24 hours of use and they wanted another $50 plus tax for a ford focus) and wouldn't credit me the difference. I decided to not move forward with the transaction, and the manager VAUGN, who was sitting there cutting shapes out of paper told me that my card was not run since it was after hours and to not worry. I did not believe him, as both staff members had a bad attitude to begin with and asked that he write that the transaction was void and his name on the original paper work since HE COULD NOT PROVIDE A RECEIPT SHOWING THE TRANSACTION WAS VOID, since he said "it was never processed".
Needless to say it was in fact processed (just under $400) on my Amex! I called amex and they said that there was not even an attempt to reverse the charge from Hertz's end. Very bad sales practices, and very poor customer service. AVOID!
UPDATE: in response to the owners comment below. No, I will not message you on facebook messenger the review I posted above. What would be the point? Frankly I've wasted enough time, standing there while your manager vaugn was cutting shapes out of paper and couldn't fulfill my order. I never saw staff so unhappy, and so unmotivated to provide even a modicum of customer service. May arts and crafts are more of his passion, but this is business is certainly not. You lost a 180 24 hour rental for virtually no other reason than you wanted to force me into a compact, and pay the same price as a mid sized, and said you had no inventory, but did have a ford focus, and would only rent it to me at a large premium? Really strange.
Did I mention I am a rewards + member and will be canceling my membership. In fact the fradualent amex charge which I was promised my card was never ran, is still pending! Shame.
I just went to 48th St.between first and second to rent a car to probably the rudest nastiest person at the counter. She did every single thing to discourage us from renting a car to the point where she would not except the platinum American Express card of two separate clients and drivers licenses we finally got out of the agency and cold and Uber to take us all the way to fire Island. Too bad people at Hertz management do not pay more attention To who they have representing them.
The best Location Manager in the Hertz system. The car was ready, Julian reviewed various points on the vehicle, as well as route information. Then gave us his card to call if we had any questions or issues during our n8ne state tour. The two times we called he was able to quickly and courteously resolve our issues. Great vehicle- great job Julian Waterton!
Utterly rude and cars beaten up - not impressed at all. Totally put out by the attitude of the staff there
The staff was so helpful and friendly for these two Californians who were nervous to be taking a car out of Manhattan into Long Island. All went just fine, though!
Rental car was terrific, but even better was the Customer Representative, Nina who had to reassign me a car to accommodate EZPass Vehicle Registration.
I had a Great experience here. I had a last minute rental need.they came through. Also in a rush I had booed the wrong car.in the jam Nina and DC worked me to get the right car in time. They were very quick, helpful polite and fast. What a great customer experience.defiantly going the hertz route next time as well ;)

This Hertz location went above and beyond to help us get a different car after we changed our request. The location manager Julian was especially helpful and walked to a different location to get the car. We can't thank them enough and highly recommend this location.
I have rent from Hertz F level car for the period 16/9/16 to 5/10/16 to be picked up at Manhattan NYC. 310E 48TH ST office. The local staff offered me Jetta and other cars which were lower car level from my order. I have spent two hours in arguing with the office manager, a rude lady who treat me as a criminal. I have never faced such unprofessional staff and was shocked due to the horrible attitude of the manager. I will never use again this office services.
Put on over 3200 miles in two weeks and all I had to worry about was where I was and gas-the car & Hertz took care of everything else!
Great rental. Very easy and convenient location. Everyone complaining seems a little out of it.
Bad experience, which is still reflecting over my vacations trip. The staff seemed not to care much about our needs and expectations. Will collect all the data that I have and will soon write a letter to Hertz. It is probably better to pick the car up at JFK.
Service was relatively fast and the car was good. I really enjoyed driving that Impala. Very easy drop off.
Avoid at all costs.
The staff is completely useless, unhelpful, and unfriendly. They can't do anything but plug in your online reservation.
Convenient, but be prepared to wait in line and not get the car you reserved. This lot is small and so is the selection.
I'm a Hertz gold + member and I do think it's the best rental company out there. But the staff at this place can be. Let's call it "moody"
