Hawaiian Restaurant Makana reviews
29May The Good Lord Bless and Love You All. Great food, great portions and reasonable prices! I've been eating here now for well over a year, probably closer to 2.
I was delivered the wrong order and the food was tasteless. I ordered the pineapple hawaiian fried rice with shrimp, was charged for it and recieved the rice without shrimp.
Curt and friendly staff. Good food. Okay prices. If you're local they have a rewards program. 8 food visits and get the 9th free.
Absolutely a place worth trying, the food is awesome and well prepared, the cost is fair and it is always neat here. Great work.
Not impressed. I tried some chicken tacos and some pork tacos. The pork was EXTREMELY fatty, like more than half my taco meat was fat. On the chicken, I hit a really big, weird chunk of what felt like tendon or something. It made an audible sound as a crunched into it. On top of that, the chicken tasted like cheap Costco frozen chicken. Flavor was just weird.
I will say the service was very friendly and the environment was (mostly) nice. But also, there was a dab of some kind of sauce in my "clean" table and cold air was bleeding through the facade. And I hate blow dryers in the bathroom, but that's a nitpick.
Such a let down. Our table literally smelled like even after we asked the girl [ who clearly didn't want to be there ] cleaned it. The food is mediocre too. Sorry! Probably my first bad review EVER
The spicy crunchy chicken was like rubber and it was cold. I used to really like
This place but who ever is the chef can’t fry chicken properly
Don't order brown rice from here. It is never cooked. I felt like my teeth were going to break on the uncooked grains. I keep going back here for some reason, hoping that my experience will get better but it never does. I think there was a change in ownership in 2017-ish. Since the menu was updated the food is bad, and more expensive. The brown rice under my salmon was not edible
Ordered the bbq beef short rib your better off chewing on a leather shoe! Roasted corn is not roasted it's out the can microwaved the only thing good is that it went straight to the garbage.the coconut shrimp was the only thing that was good and that's the reason they are getting 1star
I love this place especially the 3 roll combo. I’ve also bought the sushi platter a few times and it was so yummy. I could eat their sushi all day
Had the coconut shrimp, salmon poke, hawaiian plantation tea, and the tea went really well with the poke. Although there was only a few variety of toppings, the portion of salmon was good for the price ($12.95).
I was very dissatisfied with the amount of tuna i got in my order. I ordered from the pictures in the restaurant and it was so disappointing to finally see my dinner when I got home. There was no quantity. Maybe 8 small pieces of tuna. Id never go here again. Waste of money.
Good food in a very cozy place. The only difference from other poke restaurants is that their options are already pre-set on the menu, but definitely I would go again.

So disappointing! Appetizing pictures
far from reality. The "combo" dishes are just an excuse to charge more money. Not tasty at all. Way over priced. Never again.
I had the tofu BBQ platter. The food was fine and staff pleasant. However, the dish was served on a plastic plate with plastic flatware, despite selecting to dine in. It would be great for the business to transition away from plastic for customers dining in the restaurant.
Location: 106th St.
Total order charged on Credit Card: $78
Tip in Cash: $10 (12.82% provided)
Below average food.
Staff not that friendly either.
I'll go there next only if I am stranded on an island and that's the only place I have to go to.
Makana management, if you're reading this, train your employees on customer service and up the quality of food. Your prices are too high for quality, quantity and customer service.
I don't understand the hype over this place. I got 3 sushi rolls delivered via Seamless and they were completely mediocre. The delivery was awful - the guy actually refused to come to the 3rd floor (even though I tipped in advance) and then he left before I got downstairs (4 min). I called the restaurant and the young lady I spoke with had him back within 5 minutes but altogether not an experience worth repeating.
New place with interesting and tasty dishes. Hawaiian menu based items like tacos. They also have a huge assortment of sushi.
This is some of the best food I have had in the area! The chicken bbq is perfection and I have never had to wait long for the delivery. You must try the Plantation Tea especially if you love pineapple! It is one of my go-to places now!
Food is delicious! Buttttt. Huge butt. Portions are small for the price. $17 for combo but not a lot of meat. That price would normally feed a family of 4 in most Hawaiian plate places like zippys or L&L. But that's what happens when you're in NYC and don't have competition! Lol
