Monro Muffler Brake & Service, Colonie NY

They told me I needed new rotors and pads during yearly inspection. My car only had 78k miles which were a majority highway. It’s a company car so I told them to deal with them. They got the approval so they did the repair for $903. I left the shop and found no difference in the brakes at all. A day later I noticed I’m missing a hub cap, clearly it wasn’t put on correctly. I called the shop and the manager “Chad” says it happens. He tells me to come in and take a picture and he will have a replacement in 1-3 days. After multiple and 2 weeks + calls to dealer and giving many excuses and Chad says “ I will look into it and get back to you” in which he never does. I finally called the corporate number for customer complaints and speak to an agent there and she gets me in touch with the district manager. All three had different stories but low and behold my hubcap was in the next morning. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place to save you time, money and aggravation. They work on commission and will sell you anything. To the ones that remember Monroe in the earlier days. “if it ain’t broke, we won’t fix it. It’s very clear that that motto has gone by the wayside.

Chad was a very friendly and understanding. He hooked me up with a free oil change because I had to reschedule. Highly recommended:)

In late November of 2020, on a Friday night and just a few moments from closing time, our Home Depot one day rental box truck from Portland, Maine had had black residue spewing on to the rear wheel. We had noticed a change in braking and started a frantic search for an answer to get us back to Portland, safely, that night. After a few rejections on Central Ave.in Colonie to look at the brakes we pulled into Monro Auto and explained our plight to Dean Rhino, store manager. He checked to see if the height and weight of the truck could be accommodated in the bay and then he went to work checking it out, freeing the calipers and insuring that they were safe to drive 275 miles back home. After a test drive and a very welcomed assurance we were on our way.
Dean was very professional and INFORMATIVE.explaining everything that he did and why they lock up like that. We couldn't have asked for a better person to address our issue and in such a timely manner, on Friday night at closing. His attitude was helpful, cheerful and reassuring. Meanwhile in the waiting room, we met his wife who was sanitizing all the surfaces and chairs!

Love these guys! The manager, Chad, was fantastic and had me in and out in no time! Highly recommend coming here.

Went in for a simple brake pad change. Was told it would be 2 hours. 11 hours later I am still waiting outside. Watched one of the mechanics literally throw in the towel and shout "I quit! " And walk off the property. After all this, the manager attempted to charge me 500 dollars over the agreed upon price due to the excessive "labor hours". I'm still watching them take much longer than promised. The man working on my car has put the tires on before replacing the brake pads twice now before realizing his mistake and adjusting. Absolutely terrible service. I could have done this myself in 2 hours and certainly wish that I did.

Great shop very reasonable they don't do anything without talking to you first. The manager Mike Bulger is a good guy always been fair I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I also will be coming back for any of my fixs.

Slow, inconsiderate, unprofessional. I would give 0 stars if I could. My husband called to get his brakes fixed (part of Monro warranty we bought) on Tuesday. No appointments, so he scheduled to drop it off before work Wednesday. Car sat there for 12 hours, they told him at 4: 30 it would be about 15 minutes. It's now 7: 15 and we are still waiting. Will NOT be bringing our cars back here.

These guys at the 1550 Central Ave location are the best around! It was a bad start to my Monday, '09 VW Touareg misfiring, immediately called this shop and the employee who answered listened to my concerns and was super friendly and helpful in return. Got me in right away, diagnosed the issue in a timely manner, and I had my car back fixed within 24 hours! Can't thank these guys enough and I'm so happy to give them my business. Even stayed open late for me to come pick up my car the next day. Will be bringing all my cars here for future service and I recommend everyone to do the same! Thanks guys!

Was treated fairly when I went in with a problem that another place misdiagnosed, Mike the manager actually took the time to not only explain it to me but also walk me out and show me what part needed to be put on my car. Thank you for having the decency to walk me through the process. I have often felt pressured to do things to my vehicle due to high pressure sales and scared if I didnt do what was being recommended. I appreciate your honesty.
