Regarding membership: As a walk-in at this location the receptionist introduced me to Ryan. He gave me a tour of the facility and guided me on a thorough walk through at each floor. We ended at his office and I signed up for a 1 year membership! He offered me a plan that suited my budget and maximized my options. I referred a friend and he provided her an equally quality experience/customer service. Ask for Ryan!

So much of the equipment here is broken, they've either run out of signs or just don't care that its broken. After three months of using the gym, I haven't seen any of the equipment repaired. Bolts have fallen out of the rowing machine while using it and after reporting it, they've left it as-is. Yesterday after setting up my e-spinning bike, I found the cadence sensor was broken so switched to the next bike to find it makes an ear piercing noise at speed. I stopped after annoyed looks from other gym goers and moved to resistance equipment instead, only to find the cup holder taped on it falling off. The clincher was the seat falling off the military press machine as I prepared to do a set. My workout ended early right there.
The promised refurbishment can't come soon enough, but in the meantime, there is no sign of maintenance.

Update: I contacted the owner per their request three weeks ago but have yet to hear anything back.

Update 2: NYSC has since replaced all the treadmills and rowing machines which is nice. However, other broken equipment is everywhere across the gym. The latest being that many of the weight selector pins and carabiners for attaching to cable machines have gone missing, mean much of the equipment while not technically broken is useless. This makes for a frustrating work out. I raised this with the general manager and she said that some members bring their own!
Yesterday I went to the spin class, but the regular trainer was out and there was a sub listed. However, the sub never turned up after 30 minutes of waiting.

The New York Sports Club at 91st Street and 3rd Avenue has a few positive aspects. However I'm having a lot of trouble finding those positive ones. They finally cleaned the swimming pool. But they keep it so cold, one can actually see ice floes moving around in the water. I don't know what their problem is!

Just went up this month which defeats the 10 dollar bonus they took off for doing business with my company. Machines are always breaking down which is annoying. Convenient but sucks. I’d rather travel further for better service which is why I ended my membership. Charge so much but sucks as well as some of their workers

I wish I could give this place negative stars. If you are looking for a gym, please check other gyms and avoid this place. I joined this gym because it was just a few blocks away from my apartment. After almost 2 years of my experience with this place, I can confidently say that this is the worst gym I've ever joined.

Many work out machines were old and broken. Broken machines were never fixed while I was going to this gym. There was dust everywhere and many times they did not have clean towels ready.

The worst things are their customer service and cancellation policy. I had to cancel the membership due to an emergency move. I went to the gym to cancel my membership in person right before I moved out of the city. The front desk person said that only the manager could cancel memberships, but the manager was not there. I had to email the manager to cancel my membership. No explanation, I was just charged cancellation fee. I emailed the manager again asking about the cancellation fee, but I could not get an answer from her until 5 days later. I didn't mind paying the cancellation fee. However they also charged me for a 1 month full monthly payment (30 days) and a partial prorated payment (15 days), even though I was NOT even able to attend the gym.

So if you join this gym and ever want to cancel your membership, you will have to plan your cancellation like months ahead. If you have to cancel your membership because of your emergency situation, even if you are not able to go to the gym at all, you will be charged for a cancellation fee, PLUS almost 2 months of monthly payment for NOTHING. They are total thieves.

There are many other good gyms in UES. You will easily find a better gym with the money you will pay for this gym. Double check with their horrible policy and get yourself a better gym with usable equipment, clean environment, communicative and friendly staffs and better policy.

I left the NYSC for many reasons. The clubs I used we're beginning to "fall apart" from heavy use and lack of maintenance. NYSC also charged me extra for going to their "Elite" clubs without telling me at the club entrance counter I was not an "Elite" member. (I assumed I was since my initial membership gave me access to "all clubs".) I was a member for almost 20 years. I just gave up on them.
