Planet Fitness, Syracuse NY

Been a member for a couple months now the gym I belonged to in Destiny mall just closed up so I went to every club in area and chose PF because they have every thing I needed nice updated equipment, machines and free weights, plenty of it never have to wait free training, friendly staff, always staff cleaning or to be of help, also tanning, aqua massage lounge chairs (heavily after a w.o.) locker rooms and showers always clean best of all not a muscle head gym people of all shapes and ages and that's why I gave it 5 star oh yeah almost forgot 10.00 down 10.00 a month

I used to love this planet fitness location but lately the bathrooms have been so dirty and a majority of the equipment is broken and HAVE NOT been fixed for over a month now. Every time you walk into the gym, you see a new face behind the counter and the look on their face always says “don’t bother me”.

I try to go to the gym every day and this place is really good. Everyone is so nice here. Makes you fell as comfortable as possible. Want a good work out check them out. There open 24/7 so any time can be work out time.

Machines are always broken or have warn down padding. Some equipment needs a second one to use as they are popular. No room to use floor mats. Broken toilet seats. This location has outgrown its space. Always has a leaking ceiling. Time to find a bigger more improved location in the area.

The wifi is awful. It’s 2020 any day now and this company has WiFi that doesn’t allow your phone to work. I have to exit out of WiFi for my phone to work. #Staff has always been kind

1.wifi is a joke
2.if you are older than 30 and don't have a beach body then good luck finding someone who actually wants to help you with the weights.
3.a lot of the machines the few times I was there were broken.
4.when you go in person to see what your choices are to cancel your membership since you aren't able to work out anymore due to health issues nobody really wants to help you.
5. The 39.00 maintenance fee taken out on January 1st (for the year 2020) is not refunded even if you cancel on January 2nd.
6.very small, everything is too close together.

I am taking back my 5 start rating because for the last 2 weeks they have not cleaned the bathroom's or anything and most of the stuff is always temporary out of service.

Only reason gave it a 2 is because this is where I started my fitness journey. Since new ownership, maintenance has went downhill. Also the water fountain has been pouring out piss warm water for months, management knows bout it and still wont fix it. Literally probably just a few hundred dollars to fix

Has to give one star because I had to pick one. The facility is nice but the Management is terrible. Megan Hughes has no personality or customer service knowledge at all. Her staff gave me the wrong information and she said well too bad for you. There is nothing I will do and no one else I can speak to. Then she gives me the wrong email address to her boss and refuses to answer the phone again after that. Shame on you Megan.

Everything needed for beginners to advanced. Great program perks like tanning available. Been here for over a year now. Need to fix the water fountains. They only have warm water.awful when you're sweating and hoping for a cold drink of water

Great equipment and easy to use. Only complaint would be is it is far to cold in there. The purpose on me going to the gym is to workout and sweat. But it is very hard to do break a sweat there. The fans make it far to cold in my opinion. Other than that it is perfect

Very disappointing experience. This place looks nothing as nice as the commercial’s. The locker rooms are gross and weren’t clean.

I regularly travel between Syracuse, Utica, and Watertown, and have been to the Planet Fitness locations in all three cities. Of them all, this one is perhaps the one I attend most frequently. In addition to the convenient location near the interstate, this location is rarely too crowded. The patrons and staff seem equally attentive to keeping things clean, and the equipment is generally adequate and in good condition.

I go to a few locations early in the morning clean environment bad music but i wear headphones come get your sweat on

I love this place and enjoy the environment. No one interferes with your workout and there are many machines to use. I love the updates and the new massage hydro beds. This is the best place to get into shape when you want to work out because it's open 24hrs.

I’ve been a Black Card member for over a year now. I went in to downgrade my account to a lower price tier due to financial reasons only to be told that I would have to pay a $49-$59 fee to do so! Absolutely ridiculous. Safe to say my PF membership has been terminated.

There has been a hand grip on the power rowing machine that is broken and causing pain when using the machine properly. I have reported it 3x a week for over 4 months and keep getting told maintenance will fix, I’m still waiting. Appears that North Syracuse facility is not important enough for maintenance to visit. I have placed my account on hold until it gets fixed and in the mean time I will be checking out another facility as the response that maintenance is coming is simply not sufficient.

Staff is wonderful and so understanding with my service dog. Water problems on floor in woman's room where showers are. I see this alot at different pf's on east coast.

Realizing that everything is not perfect in this world and that things do happen beyond our control at times, I just thought I might offer my opinion.
The staff is very courteous and helpful. I’ve been a member for a few years at this location and they are very friendly. The current daytime fitness instructor seems to know her stuff and really gets into helping people stay motivated. I personally do not require that type of assistance, but it is nice to see the professionalism as she handles things very well.
When the equipment was all changed last year, most of us were hoping for the better. This is not to say that the previous equipment was not satisfactory. Just that usually you replace old with better. Not the case here. I’m in there to run more than anything else. This new age treadmill that replaced ones with far more options are constantly broken. To date, 4 are out of order and those are the ones that are tagged. There are 2 stair climbers in the facility. One has been out of order for over a month. There are several other treadmills that either won’t come up to speed or shut off in the middle of a workout. The old adage “Out with the old, in with the new” did not work out in Planet Fitnesses favor. Fortunately there are plenty of them and unless I’m there in the late afternoon, I can handle the inconvenience and can usually find one. As for the rest of the equipment, there are a few positive additions. Some of the weighted machines particularly in the 30 minute section are ergonomically much better then previous versions.
The pull-up bars have grip handles that are very loose. It is very difficult to use it adequately when your grip is not good. A little glue inside the handles to secure them and keep them from slipping would go a long way.
The free weight area is where I do most of my work. Plenty of weights and variety to go around. My only complaint is too many flat benches and not enough adjustable ones. There used to be 5 or 6 and I believe we are now down to 3. The flats are only good for so much.
Lack of mat and stretch area. Understandably the facility is small in regards to many planet fitnesses I have been too. The one area that used to be large enough for 6 people to stretch has been reduce to 3 at best. 3 contraptions next to one another and adjacent to the limited area have occupied what was once a stretch area. Furthermore, whatever the use are for these things, I have yet to see anyone use any of them. They are taking up space and not being used.
In a nutshell, the place is being let go and has become a joke. Added to all of the other issues, drinking fountain that now dispenses hot water, machines that are filthy, a roof issue that should have been repaired long ago since winter has ended, yet still seeing open ceiling tiles, mop buckets and safety cones, mold under the hand dryers in bathroom, no toilet paper in restrooms, bulbs out on lights over free weight area. I asked for a buyout today. I’m paying $20 a month currently for a very substandard gym that obviously does not care about its image or its clientele. A manager was fired several months ago. I’m not sure the reason and don’t care. However the facility has suffered since. Afternoons which used to be very busy are now very quiet. Apparently it is not just me seeing the total disrepair. It’s sad to see something let go like this. I have been a member for 5 years. The next 4 months will likely be my last. Thank you.

Got crowded quickly due to low cost. But cost isn't everything if you are serious about exercise. Too dark. Purple wouldn't have been my choice, but it's the company color. Too few flat benches. If you have a choice of your work out time you may be able to go during a less crowded time. Plenty of dumbbells and a great 30minute workout area. Tanning and massage beds make it a good value.
