Tompkins Square Park reviews
32Great legendary park in the East Village. One of the favorite locations for The Impractical Jokers to film their show and the hime of many movies. Offers great grass areas for picnics or suntanning, parks for kids, baseball and skating area all nestled in the middle of the city.
Arguably the most diverse and socially and culture interesting park in Manhattan with always something to see or do. Great live music, excellent playgrounds, and abundant good food nearby. Farmers market is smaller than Union Square, but good for a week of groceries (depending on what you like to eat).
Great place during warmer weather.ice dog park and different live entertainment in warmer weather
Not manicured or pretty, but a lot of character, always a bench to sit on and lots of life. Basketball, great dog park, and more.
Nice place.go whenever I'm in town.love using the infrared camera on all the trees, which come out as the b+w in my photos
Honestly Of all the parks I been to in Manhattan this is by far the worst. So many homeless people. Individuals that live in the area do not respect the environment.
Big park with multiple sports facilities - basketball, tennis, squash and dog walking. Has free public restrooms too!
A great place to people watch. Get a local to tell you the story of the soup line and the missing people.
Doesn't look the same but it brings back childhood memories great 4 kids. Beware of dog park in the middle of park
Oh damn.remember the riot they had in the 90's.
Well that don't matter.
It's a little nicer now.
Dont get me wrong it's still the cesspool of humanity you've grown to love but.with 12% less used needles laying about in the grass.
Get some falafel's either before or after your visit.
But visit soon as this place is getting gentrified and wount be as filthy as you'd expect.
All charm shall be white washed over with latte.
Your typical "East Village" park, a kinder, gentler version of Washington Square Park, which in itself has it's charms
Many live music events here, famous for it's recreational options. A few homeless but where else would they be able to spend their time?
Community park free from corporate interests. One can sunbathe, play ping-pong, bring a dog to the two dog runs, kids to the many kids playgrounds and ball fields, and hawk watching. There are the occasional many punk rock shows, queer community theater, and dance parade. Tompkins Sq was, and still a center of political activism, from the police riot of 1989, to todays local protests and demonstrations. THE DOWNSIDES: horrible public toilets that often have junkies in them, if you put on a play, or show here, you may attract mentally ill hecklers, or baby man child hecklers, sociopaths, etc.i get it is a public park, but we don't need toxic people ruining it for everybody else.
No matter how many more cinderblock condos the fat cats build, they will never scrub clean the confines of this alternate universe.
Beautiful walking, bench and picnic grass areas it's well kept and they have a clean doggy area with a small pool and plenty of space to run. Close to many restaurants and bars open until after dark and they have handball courts and basketball courts also open late
It's a City Park. Atmosphere changed when they removed the permanent bandshell. Bathrooms continue to be fairly disgusting, but if you have to go, they'll do. Plenty of delis & other quick food and drinks if you're looking for a lazy picnic.
Nice place to just sit and enjoy being in nyc. Not as busy as central park, more neighborhood feel & east village vibe.
FOND MEMORIES HERE FOR ME.
MUSIC WITH LOCAL TALENT. JUST NEED TO REPAIR N IMPROVE LADIES BATHROOM. FEEL HISTORY IN SURROUNDING
BUILDINGS. HOPE IT REMAINS.
Saw the solar eclipse here and the communal aspect of the park is great. Usually live music going on as well
Great park NYC Style. The best part was a guy in the center with a mic and beats rapping about passers by. Incredible!
