Admitted there in early May due to my increasing mental health symptoms. I did not have any kind of problems while there until the last 2 days. One patient was very upset over something and randomly slammed my door open as aggressively as he could. Later, as I was waiting to speak to a nurse, the same patient came up to me, grabbed my arm and starting hitting me for no reason at all.

I was also having difficulties being in this kind of environment due to the constant screaming and conflicts among patients and nurses. In the middle of the night, I went up to the nurses station as all of them were conversating amongst themselves for 10 minutes before they asked what I needed. With absolutely no kind of attitude or nervousness, I kindly asked if there was a way to leave the hospital if I had my parents or brother sign for custody of my well being. The nurse (who I had gotten along with fine before this occurrence), instead of just saying no aggressively said "no, but if you don't calm down you will be staying extra days". After taking to several other doctors and nurses they said they she does not have authority to do that. Hearing that from the nurse triggered a panic attack kept me from falling asleep or keeping calm for several hours. Another nurse the next day took vitals and asked if I was upset recently because my blood pressure had gone up a lot. This was due to both experiences

While I got along with everyone else fine, and all the other patients and workers were very kind and helping, those 2 experiences are completely uncalled for especially as patients are admitted to receive help to balance things out. Its not difficult to notice when a patient is being violent especially right in front of the nurses desk and for a nurse to show a little compassion without attitude towards a patient nicely asking for help

I have since filed 2 complaints with Mount Carmel with no kind of response.
