Steinkeller, Oxford OH

Food is good and beer selection was a mix of German and domestic beer. Beers have changed over time to more German brews with more expensive prices. Good to go and drink/eat but not friendly on the money front.

I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and pleasant, efficient sevice at Steinkeller. The only drawback I felt was the German food seemed to be prepared for the "American" palate. May seem picky, but I resided in Germany for quite a long time and believe that I prefer the strong flavors;ie, mustards, spicy potatoes and even beets.
Some low key German music would be appreciated also.

A pleasant experience for a small college town "German" Restaurant. A very good selection of German Bier with a mix of Cincinnati Micro Beers. I travel to Germany about every other year for weeks at a time so I'm a German Food Snob. Steinkellers food entrees were acceptable and pleasing but not the quality I was expecting. What's more important is that there was Gemutlichkeit experienced by all. PROST!

We went to celebrate a birthday. The food was great. We started with sauerkraut balls (yum!) and a sampler of light German beers. I had filet mignon, hubby had the special 12 ounce New York strip. Both came with a voice of green salads, both quite good. With the entrée, he had German potato salad, mine came with mashed potatoes. Their regular steaks & filets are from a local farm, but the specials were not. Not realizing that Wednesday was "steak night" we went at peak time and had to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. The place was packed, mainly with Miami U students enjoying the special and the beer. We will return to try other German foods.but probably not on a Wednesday.

Great place to meet friends for the after-party! Beer selection is fabulous and the ambiance is authentic German. Fun people, too.

What a great hidden restaurant. Great German food. Loved the wurst platter. Wished we would have found this restaurant sooner.

This place is the best! Hidden gem in Oxford. It's in a great basement, they have a ton of awesome German beers on tap. The food is killer and the service is fantastic.

Some of the best German food I have ever eaten! The staff was amazing and our waitress was absolutely top notch! I will definitely return next time I'm in town.

An authentic Bavarian beerhall right here in Southwestern Ohio. They have a large variety of German beer to choose from and the menu ranges from Wurst and Schnitzel platters to Bavarian Beef Gulash to Salads, Sandwiches and Bugers. I had the Jager Schnitzel for dinner on my last visit. The mushroom and onion sauce on top of the Bavarian spatzle was lip smacking good.

I’m not big on giving 5 stars, but having lived for years in Garmisch Germany I’m an expert. And this place nails food and the ambiance. Not an easy thing to do, and the details and effort is obvious to anyone that’s been in this business. Also a really top notch staff, couldn’t have done anything near as well. This is a gem

This is an amazing place to go for some great authentic German food and beer. Thee athmosphere is amazing, the staff is exteremly friendly and the location perfectly describes it's name. Loacted in an actual basement during the winter months it can get cold so bring a jacket but prepare for an amazing once in a lifetime meal.

Very nice place, food is always wonderful staff are helpful and friendly good atmosphere for a bar and grill. Recommend at least trying once!
