We just wrapped up a full exterior remodel with JKC and it was, by far, the best experience we've ever had with a contractor. We replaced the siding, windows, doors, gutters and finished with new paint. From the very first interaction to the last, the professionalism, patience and high quality of workmanship gave us confidence that we chose the right partner for this large investment. The office staff meticulously walked us through the design process and product selections. They proactively provided regular updates on material ETA's and overall schedule. The team on the jobsite was always so friendly, respectful and thoughtful. We're beyond happy with the final result and would recommend Joe and the JKC team without hesitation.

Joe’s team added a portico to my house. All we gave them was a picture for inspiration, and they executed it to perfection. Everyone says it looks like it belonged there from the beginning.

Joe helped us re-side and paint our house. From the beginning he and Petra were professional and communicative. The process was not quick, but they engaged us in a thoughtful planning process and always communicated about the next steps. Subcontractors were friendly and professional as well. The end was result was of the highest quality.

Shortly after purchasing our home, we discovered severe dry rot hidden beneath two layers of siding, and it was clear we'd have to strip everything down to the sheathing. Going down to the sheathing meant it'd also be an excellent time to replace old windows and doors. All this to say, it was a vast project involving demolition, rot repair, window/door installation, downspout replacement, siding installation, and painting.

Joseph and his team did a phenomenal job. Our project came with a lot of challenges that they were able to solve. Anytime a new complication came up, they communicated the problem and provided us with multiple options.

We got quotes from practically every siding company worth their salt in Portland, and Joseph's bid came right in the middle. Other quotes were either so low that it was apparent the cost would balloon or far too high to justify.

Joseph was organized, communicated clearly, and was respectful of our time throughout the project. Overall, we are thrilled with the results and would recommend them to family/friends.

We hired Joe Ketner and his team for a complete exterior remodel, new siding, windows, paint, drain pipes, decking, the works! We were impressed with his communication, clear budget tracking, quality of work, everything. Everyone that showed up to work was friendly and professional and really just a pleasure to have around. Shawn and I originally had planned to replace our siding and one or two sets of side windows. When Joe showed up to gives his bid he had included some estimates for alternative scenarios, including replacing the front porch, door and bay window for superior curb appeal. It was because of this vision and initiative presented in a non-pressuring manner which caused us to select Ketner Construction. It was an expensive and lengthy project but we are very pleased with the results.

The beginning of the project coincided with the beginning of Covid, which didn't make anything easier or faster. We appreciate Joe and his crews taking safety concerns seriously.

The siding crew of Armando, Gerry and Alex was hardworking and respectful of the property. Whenever any question arose Armando would always say that the goal was to make us happy. We enjoyed talking to them and having them around.

At no added cost Joe put us in contact with Alberto to build a new porch and walkway. He did excellent work at a very reasonable price. I enjoy showing admirers of the porch pictures of the former monstrosity occupying the spot.

We have to give special thanks to Steve, who installed 5 sets of windows, the entry door and sidelight and a double door exterior closet. None of these were simple straightforward operation; they were all completed with artistry and skill. He could always be counted on to come up with an elegant solution regarding doors, windows and beyond. It helped our stress level to be able to ay to each other, "We'll see what steve thinks. "

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the Hardie plank siding looked and I no longer need to chased off the Northern Flickers boring through 60 year old cedar. With the addition of high quality paint from Miguel and crew the house should be set for many years. Now, on to the fence!

Joseph Ketner Construction built a new porch for our old home. Built in 1909, the house was classic St. Johns, but the porch was much newer/shoddier construction, which didn’t match the style of our home and, after decades, was more or less rotting away. My husband and I wanted a new porch that would reflect the period in which our house was built and draw upon the styles of the time. And we wanted something that was high-quality, solid and safe as well.

The job had multiple stages (demo and removal of the old porch, concrete poured and support columns set, then construction of the porch proper (framing, columns, ceiling, steps, railings, moldings, crowns) and painting. The entire JK crew was highly-skilled; in addition, throughout the project, they were regularly willing to chat with me about what was being done or was going to be done — since I wouldn’t known the half of it, because that’s not my bag:)

Along with this steady communication stream about the project, the JK crew were willing and able to offer up recommendations/advice/thoughts when particular decisions needed to be made by my husband and I. We were given, for example, some great pointers/tips for wood types, stain colors, molding styles, railing heights, etc.) The result was just what we wanted; and JK helped us bridge all of those unknowns, when we weren’t sure exactly what we wanted.

A special shout-out to Steve — a carpenter who would give the man himself a run for the money. Skilled, efficient, super artistic/artisan eye for detail and aesthetic, and ready to recommend direction and/or build whatever is on the blueprint. And cheers to Isaac, who “free-brushed” so many coats of paint and stain that I wondered if he was thinking this was his home. Hard work, combined with an experienced hand and touch.

Working with Joe was a pleasure due to his knowledge, responsiveness and overall professionalism. He was able to beat all other bids I received for a full Hardie Plank replacement. After interviewing multiple siding contractors, I decided to work with Joe Ketner because I thought he was trustworthy and professional. I was not disappointed by the experience. Joe and his crew removed old siding from my home (vintage 1925) prior to repairing, re- siding and painting both the garage and home. This included replacing gutters and installing doors and a window. At the same time I got some seismic work done and Joe coordinated with that contractor and referred me to other trusted workpeople for foundation repair and electrical work. Each person we dealt with from the crew, to the office staff, and Joseph himself were fantastic to deal with. All were eager to keep us up to date on the job and let us know what to expect. Joe Ketner and his whole team were wonderful to work with. We did a large scale remodel of the exterior of our home (tearing off stucco, brick, and old aluminum siding, and replacing all windows, and replacing and painting all new siding). We felt that he quoted us competitively and was upfront with all pricing when something unexpected arose. Our house had a fair bit of water damage under the old stucco, and his team did an excellent job remediating and fixing the exterior boards before starting on the outer layers of insulation and siding. His team (Armando the carpenter/siding expert), Steve the window expert, Petra the office manager, and Isaac the painter are all professional, friendly and very prompt in their responses. We enjoyed working with all of them over the weeks they were at our home. Joe himself is very easy going, but super helpful, personable, and best of all, gets the job done! We never had big delays in our job as I’ve heard other friends say they’ve experienced working with other contractors. One thing we really noticed was that people Joe hires (electrician, insulation guy, the dumpster/junk haulers, and his own team) seem to really regard him as a great person of integrity to work with. If he called up someone for a favor, they were usually at our house the next day. As you can tell, we’d highly recommend Joseph Ketner for any home project, big or small!

Joe Ketner Construction replaced and painted our siding, rebuilt a deck railing, and painted it all. Joseph lead us through an extensive remodel that featured brand new window designs, multiple building textures including masonry work, wood and cement composite siding.
