So I didn't have any work done but I had a pretty unprofessional experience getting a bid from them.

I was given the name recommended from 2 friends. I called and didn't hear back for 4 days to set up the bid.in the meantime I had set up other bids, thinking I wasn't going to hear from this company, so having them come was setting my timeline behind a bit in the process, but he was recommended.

Joe was relaxed, no pressure, easy to deal with. I expected an email with the bid but was told by the manager 3 days after the consult that Joe wanted to meet in person 6 days later.

This was a bit frustrating cause I anticipated not having to wait that long (I wanted to get a plan and confirm/decline other bids), but whatever- I thought as Joe gave his time to come over, I should respect that and see what he comes back with.

Then 1 day prior to getting the estimate in person they cancelled on me via email because they were booked for a few months, not even giving me an estimate and then note in the email to "please keep us in mind" with future projects.

So now I was set back a solid couple of weeks because of this process, without even a bid from them?

If my project was something Joe or whoever was not interested in, why wait 8 days to let me know? Or tell me it would be 4+ months to get on the schedule. I would get that. A busy contractor is a good sign.

I emailed back with these concerns and then Joe personally called- saying this was the only time this sort of circumstance had happened- guess I'm that one unlucky customer. I shared my concerns- still no offer to consider the job at a later date or give an estimate.

I asked for a rough bid a few days later and what he quoted for the prep/paint alone was over $10k MORE than who I settled with. I don't doubt he does good work but this experience needed to be shared, given many good choices out there.
