Updated: I'm giving these folks another star as they actually did take the motor oil with the recycling. Kudos to them on that and I'm happy to admit I was wrong on that part. The rest of my review stands.
This is simply a monopoly that acts with the impunity and disregard of a business that doesn't have to compete. Their website is useless (click on the schedule for your zip code and you get a page with a link to 'Holiday Schedule'.) and offers nothing but boilerplate self-promotion. It's like Republic is thumbing its nose at customers as if to say, 'You don't like it, go somewhere else! '
Raising prices while cutting services is what you get when you have no competition. That the city and county go along with this, is all you need to know to understand they've surrendered their oversight function to the so-called 'free market'. It's a completely dysfunctional system that allows rackets like Republic and Comcast to have it their way. Paraphrasing the old joke about communist governments, city and county officials here 'pretend to represent the people and the people pretend they're represented. '
Weekly service is decent, drivers nice enough. Glass recycling is different, unreliable, supposed to be on Tuesday of the "1st full week of the month", but they can't keep track of which day of the week is the first day, so pickup day varies and is unpredictable. Unreliable. National call center is clueless about local service, or provides misinformation, and there is no local number to call. Long wait times. Would give zero stars if I could.
I appreciate we have a company to take away our trash and garbage. People should be thankful instead of complaining. We all have our jobs to do and Republic Service employees do a fine job! THANK YOU for your service. I wouldn't be able to take care of everything you do.
Ordered a 30 yard construction dumpster at their crazy Monopolized price. Asked for delivery 3 days later. Received a voicemail the next day asking if anyone will be home for delivery.for the wrong day. Called back the next 3 days. NO CALL BACK. Short story we didnt get our dumpster and they didnt care one bit. Nice customer service. Guess that's what you get when you'order from the only one providing the service. WHAT A JOKE.
This really is the worst company I have ever done business with. Mostly billing department and customer service issues. Classic case of big business monopoly that could care less about its customers.
If we had any other choice in our area for waste disposal I would run to them and pay them more money to not have to deal with Republic Services EVER AGAIN. Worst company I've ever dealt with by far.
I really appreciate that they have a clean and handy recycling center, I use it ALL the time. Super helpful staff help me unload if I have too heavy a load and twice a year the extended recycling of my stuff. My pick up people are cheerful with in a neighborly way. I've visited 3rd world countries and am so appreciate our red white and blue.
They get the job done and distribute a pamphlet about what you can recycle. My only complaint is I can't recycle round plastic containers. I've had no bad experiences.
About the norm for garbage service. You can’t please everyone, or even most people when it comes to garbage. We had an issue with one of our collection bins. They said they would replace it, and they did, on the day it was promised. Works for me.
I miss the days when I could talk to your nice local customer service rep before you were outsourced to AZ. I can tell you that was your single biggest mistake. We are not clients any more. We are identified by an account number.
Been waiting for a new trash can to replace the broken one for a two weeks now. Called twice. Was told both time it'd happen that day and to "just wait". Here I am. With a broken trash can still.
I have already had so many issues with this company. First, our containers were delivered 3 weeks late and the company still tried charging us regular service charges. After multiple long phone calls, they only credited a small portion to our account. Then, their online bill pay system was dysfunctional and wouldn't allow me to pay our bill after multiple tries with different methods and multiple emails to customer support. All I got in return were unhelpful automated replies. Our bill became past due and we were charged a service interruption fee for their error. Even after representing our case to customer support once again, we were told the fee couldn't be waived. Republic Services is unfit to operate in this area and needs some serious help.
Terrible customer service. Very hard to understand why it is so hard to arrange trash service. The service agent was contradictory and was not making it simple to GIVE MY BUSINESS to you.
Good luck waiting under 30 minutes to reach costumer service. I am literally writing this post while having been on hold for 35 mins.
If I could give them negative stars I would. Worst service I have EVER experienced. Period. Terrible customer service, NEVER follow through with what they say. Its really too bad we are stuck with them because no other services serve our area. Super super SUPER frustrating

What a joke of a company. One whole year of leaving our glass recycling out and at least 8 calls to schedule pickups and still nothing. They really are a TRASH company.
Just ask the people of St. Louis about Republic Services. They have an EPA Superfund Site, courtesy of Republic. The landfill there, which contains radioactive waste, is on fire inside, killing residents slowly and Trump's EPA had Scott Pruitt in charge. We're in trouble and this company doesn't care one bit. It's hilarious that many of these reviews are about the customer service. Wake up, people. The Earth is dying and you're worried about rude telephone agents.
Poor service, poor customer service! Wasn't interested in solving the mistake they made, they couldn’t have cared less. Yet, they wanted their money at the time of order, but didn’t deliver! Never will I use them or recommend them again!
