The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium and Museum reviews
35Unique, crazy and fun for all ages. If you are looking for a silly good time, especially with kiddos, this is a great place to check out. Also some good food spots and coffee shops around the area as well. Check it out! Keep Portland Peculiar!
It is a 5.00 tourist trap. Maybe nice to take the kids if you are walking by but as for it being a destination.
Funky attraction close to lots of cute little shops and restaurants. If you like oddities, it’s worth your time.
First time eating cricket's and at first we we're apprehensive about it but it's actually a bit tasteless. Filled with protien, felt energized afterwards. Will definitely do it again good experience!
Very cool little museum with strange things to see and a few interactive pieces as well! A must visit!
A little slice of weird. Nice place to blow 30-45 minutes entertaining slightly sober friends. Longer if you go through some of the awesome art they have there.
Suspend your disbelief and walk in with a smile you will enjoy yourself. So far all the staff I have encountered have been very nice and helpful with my dumb questions.
Edit: Last time I was here I felt like things were not working. It looks like they fixed it some of the things behind the velvet ropes. They have also rotated some of the art to give you more to look at and even take home.
Save your $5. You are in Portland, you can find enough low quality weirdness and progressive hate without paying for it. On the bright side, even if that IS your cup of tea, this place is so small you won't have to waste much time to see it all. Either way, you will be disappointed.
It's an interesting place that holds up Portland's slogan of "keep Portland weird. " My favorite part was the alien operating on the person.
Visited this place on my first trip to Portland and absolutely loved it. It was a unique museum with lots of gore and scares. I appreciated the range of different genres of horror (sci-fi, ghouls, crypts, etc.) and interactive nature of many of the exhibits. I only wish there were more exhibits because who doesn’t want more of a good thing… but especially considering how affordable it was, I was very impressed with the exhibits. They also have a fun gift shop with tons of stuff worth looking at and that’s a kind of exhibit unto itself. I should also mention that the guy in the shop was kind enough to offer to take photos. And when I left my pricey old hat in a tomb from the fright, they found it and shipped it to me in Seattle. They also insisted on covering the shipping cost and sent me a small gift from the shop. So, kudos to them for caring about patrons and not losing their soul in the midst of all that gore and death!
If you’re in Portland and want a weird Portland experience, go here! We had a great time walking around and looking at the exhibits. There were a lot of laughs!
Love love this lil place! Strange for sure & could not leave without spending like $60 in the gift shop. LOL. Will definitely be back!:). I also like that there are NO CHILDREN ALLOWED.:) Makes it much more enjoyable.
I wasn't sure what to expect at this place - just happened to find it while we were killing time between events. Neat little place and we enjoyed ourselves here.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I loved what I got. The $5 admission is totally reasonable and everything inside is super fun
I start my ghost tours from this location. The staff is excited and part of the experience. You do not want to miss this experience. My children love the bug club. I am not able to pretend the bugs on the ice cream are popcorn. I'm still I'm training.
Super fun little place to spend a little time. It's quirky, weird, and cheesey! Totally worth the 5$ admission price. 10/10 would recommend for those with a sense of adventure and a taste for the macabre.
