Not your typical shave ice place, but much better if you like slightly different flavor combos. Unique combinations that are made fresh from local ingredients. You don’t choose individual flavors like a typical shave ice place.
Wailua Shave Ice came out to our office to make shave ice for a company meeting event. They were super friendly, did a great job making 75 shave ice quickly, and everything was delicious!
Having grown up in Hawaii i was delighted to discover that Wailua Shave
ice had opened a shop here in Portland. Same great local style shave.
This place was amazing! There wasn’t a line when I went there and the employees are extremely helpful and very patient. The prices are good and not too much but I recommend you share with someone since they give you so much, another tip is to ask for it with ice cream it tastes incredible this way
Legit Hawiian Style Shave Ice. Not a sno-cone! Seriously amazing! A bit busy when we went, but worth the wait. Walking distance from Alder St Food carts.
Been to the one on Kauai more times than I can count. Best shave ice in the island. Finally made it into pdx from the westside when we were craving Hawaii. Did not disappoint. Literally tasted exactly like we were in Kapaa.
I had the pina colada - really good. Probably could have used a little extra juice, but no complaints at all.

Shave ice was nice and smooth as it should be. I ordered the Lava Flow and it tasted like they use canned pineapple juice as the flavoring. Not a fan of that taste at all, but if that floats your boat, go for it! Foam and other topping was good. Would shoot for a different flavor next time. Also plan on waiting for around 20 minutes if things are looking remotely crowded.
This shave ice was amazing. I had the love potion #9and it was superb. I will reinterpret be going back to try other flavors!
Best shave ice I've had since I moved from Hawaii in the 90's. Definitely worth checking out if shave ice is your jam and you're in the area.
To get here, you need to go inside the Union Way complex and walk into the hallway. Their shaved ice here is awesome. They serve generous portions, I had the
Cool place if you like long lines and snobby portlanders. Ice is aight. They definitely need to figure out line management though, everyone just kind of walks in and assumes they are first in line because of so many others waiting for the ice while the workers behind the counter dont manage the lines as they grow out of control.
A new must try for portland natives, tourists, and foodies. With new flavors daily, I find myself returning over and over, even on the cold days. The Love Potion #9 is THE BEST FLAVOR and is so creamy with vibrant fresh strawberries and syrup.
Always a treat! Love their shave ice as they use only natural ingredients. The story of their origin in Kauai is great too. Way way better than the famous Matsumoto’s in the North Shore. Only slight downside is that downtown parking can be tough. The staff are all super friendly and kids love the places.
