Xpresso Lube, Portland OR

Went in today to get my front and rear differentials serviced and an oil change. The guy that they send in to talk you into other services is good at his job, I listened to him upsell everyone he talked to when I was there. He sold me on a break light. When I left my right blinker wasn't working neither was the break light they replaced. There was also a horrible smell and smoke coming from the hood.

The head honcho was quick to come see me when I came back. He was pissed, they spilled gear fluid when servicing the final drive creating the smoke. He took control of the situation promptly. He changed the lights himself and made them service the final drive again, this time the right way.

I was a little upset I had to come back, but in the end it was taken care of promptly and my final drive was serviced twice. But my car still smokes and smells from the oil spill.

Used to be really good, but now this place isn’t great at all. A worker there was bragging about all the street races he’s been winning with his VW. Asking customers if they wanted to race him.
Yeah. Any slow car can gap his POS vw. Looked like a kid that dropped out of high school and smokes weed 24/7. Doesn’t know jack s*** about cars.

Customer service by others were just decent. They all looked like they didn’t wanna work there. The guy who “seemed” to be the manager looked like he enjoyed working there a little too much.

Not impressed. Yesterday the mechanics were complaining and told me that they were backed up because they ran out of air filters, so they told me to come back today. When I did, they said they were closed at 3 instead of 5, which is not the time indicated online or at their location. Nothing was mentioned the day before or anywhere that they would be closing early for the Superbowl. The manager told us we had to leave. If watching tv is more important than their business then it is very clear where their priorities are. The manager was also extremely rude and condescending. I won't be back. I suggest everyone else stay away too.

Great Service and Prices, plus a FREE Car wash after 25.00 oil change, no other place does this, good Job. Matt & Mike did another Great Job! Breaks are Great!

Was helped by a gentleman named Matt who ended up being able to fix my problem without costing me a cent, after a few other shops stated i need new parts. Turns out, a couple loose bolts tightened and i was on my way.

So nice and explained things that I can understand. Was more then j&! / l%#@ but worth the skill.

This place has a rather quick turnaround of technicians. My experience today was a 5star. However, in the past, some of their technicians were trying hard sell tactics to offer expensive unnecessary service. This place doesn't accept American Express. WiFi is available. Oil change price includes a carwash.

Super nice, went in for an oil change, warned me about problems I could fix myself for cheaper than their service without upselling it to me, they really just want to see your car taken care of.

Went in on Saturday for their $24.99 oil change.
I got my $24.99 oil change,
However, now my oil filter is leaking and my drain plug seal blew as these oil dripping from both the plug and the oil filter.
They got it done in 3-5 minutes, but didn’t do the job correctly.
Will have to go back in have this corrected.

Tried to tell me my motor mounts were bad, they’re absolutely not and tried to tell me the tranny I put back together was leaking. It wasn’t.
Horrible technicians if a dude off the street can prove them wrong, need to stop telling people things are wrong when they’re not and taking advantage of customers, because not everyone knows enough to prevent being taken advantage of.

I wouldn’t return here. I’ll do myself if they can’t seem to do a simple oil change correctly.

Post Review of returning to Xpresso Lube 1/3/2018

I returned back after the fact of writing this, the owner Mike, was friendly even though I wrote this nasty review. He invited me into the bays to check out what was really going on so I could also see myself that there were some issues (not as substantial as they were perceived) however, their diagnostics were correct on the bumper stock starting to go out (not bad, but going out.)

It was very nice to be able to talk to another Subaru enthusiast and he provided great customer service even though I was a pretty big A-hole about all this.
He replaced my drain plug for free and bullshitted with me til it was done. Was a good second experience here at Xpresso Lube and I’ll definitely be bringing my Subie back for oil changes and possibly more.
He was honest and straight forward and worked well with me to show me instead of tell me what’s wrong and why.

Was a extremely pleasant visit.

Okay, I'm torn writing this review. On one hand, Xpresso Lube is freaking fantastic and there's a reason they're always busy. On the other, I'd love if I could keep this gem all to myself. Looks like the cat is out of the bag on that one though.

I've read the reviews for this place and the bad ones honestly baffle me. The prices here are incredibly fair - more than fair - for great work. Mike is an amazing guy, and I trust my beat up, beloved Mustang with him over anyone else I've tried in the PDX area (and trust me, I've tried more than a few places). The turnaround time is great, the service is lovely, the employees are nice, and oh yeah.there's an espresso bar in the waiting area.

Yes. An espresso bar. Lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, etc. All available for purchase. In the lobby. With super fast and reliable WiFi. (Why is no one else talking about this? !) They have little tables and a huge, comfy sofa, too.

Xpresso lube is my go-to place for a reason. They're just plain great.

Awesome place! Loved the free car wash, they got most of the dog hair out of my car. They also changed my windshield wipers and replaced my broken headlight and tail light. Volvos are notoriously difficult with their lights, I've always had trouble with replacing them and had other oil change places refuse to try, but this guy had no problem! They were so nice and took care of everything and more. Will definitely be going here from now on!

Best place for fluid changes in the area hands down. Comfortable lounge area with snacks and a free car wash with a service. Quick, honest and competitively priced.
