Veterinarian AVETS reviews
27I took my sick ferret there and Dr Ball examined him and said everything was unremarkable. Charged us $300 for an xray. Come to find out that they did NOT check his temperature which was 105 and despite my vet's treatment the next day, he died. I reached out to their liaison to tell her my experience and of course she sided with her employer. I left a bad review on their facebook page and they blocked me. I will NEVER take another pet there. Med Vet in McMuray is much better.
I'm going to start off by saying that I understand COVID times are tough and that I had no problem waiting in the car, the 6-8 hour wait time given, or the fact that there were likely more critical dogs/cats than my own, despite the picture shown. My dog, Gus, started throwing up around 7: 00pm at night and by the third time he threw up, there was blood in his vomit and I made the the decision to go to the ER vet. This place popped up and to be honest, I didn't really read the reviews because I was so concerned about getting my dog help. Anyways fast forward to about 8: 15 when I get there. I immediately called and they said that they would be out to walk him in, okay no big deal. 8: 50pm rolls around and after me making another phone call, someone comes out to get Gus. They reiterated the 6-8 hour timeline and I stated that I understand but I made sure I retold them that he was throwing up blood and how worried I was.
Fast forward to about 11: 00ish, I call in to check on him, they state he is "stable" but that the doctor had not send him yet to due to more critical patients. Okay no problem, I knew it was going to be a long wait. Fast forward to 2: 00am. Gus still hasn't been seen but mind you I have seen SEVERAL patients that came after me go in and out and yet Gus still hadn't been even seen to make sure nothing was rupturing, etc. Around 3: 30am, I made the decision to take Gus and just try our chances in the morning because when I called back in at the time, the girl told me that they had just gotten two critical patients in and that it likely would be another 1-2 hours. I explained that I had been here since 8 and again reiterated that he had thrown up quite a bit of blood, but she again stated that patients were treated in terms of priority.
I am beyond frustrated that I sat there for so long for what I believe to be a critical issue and he wasn't even seen. Thankfully I wasn't charged but I won't be returning and wouldn't suggest this place to anyone unless you want to be treated like you are unimportant and not a priority.
On a side note, I took Gus to his regular vet at Pittsburgh East Animal Hospital in Greensburg and he was seen and treated within 15 minutes.
I had a scheduled appointment for my dogs ultrasound at 8: 30am today. They left me a voicemail late yesterday saying they were moving it to 10: 15. I rearranged my whole morning and showed up at 10: 15. I called to let them know I was there, and sat in my car while every car that pulled up was attended to within 5 minutes of arrival. I left after 45 minutes of sitting in my car. A tech called me at 11: 15 (an hour after my scheduled appointment) and said they would be ready for him soon. I couldn’t imagine trusting them with my dog.
The overall professionalism and wisdom that the staff had made me feel at ease during this emergency visit. I knew my pet was in the best care possible the entire stay. The doctors and front desk communicated updates regularly, and definitely have a love for all animals!
I haven't gone there yet but desperately need a avian vet to see my bird and soin! The reviews are scaring me and for some reason I can't get an appointment with the avian vet WHICH I would rather do and feel better about but when I call they're vague with me. Maybe it is all about money and that's why I'm unable to get an appointment.going thru emergency cost more. I just don't know what to do. They could definitely be a little more compassionate.
Kudo's to Dr Ball for expediting our visit and putting our daughter's mind at ease. She went out of her way to keep things moving. Both professionalism and compassion! Rarely found today.
Absolute best care you can get for your pet. Everyone that works there gave my dog the same love and care as if she was their own. They were all very professional and gladly answered any questions or concerns I had throughout the entire process. Bottom line is AVETS saved Nelli’s life and I am so very thankful for that.
Terrible they don't give a damn about your pet what they do care about is how fast and how much they can take from your wallet most unprofessional and rude karma will do them all in stay away from this place they all have a place in hell waiting for them!
VERY disappointed! I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. You take your pet there & if you dont wanna empty your wallet or bank account, they don't want to help your sick pet. The most unprofessional I've ever seen from a place that "claims" to care about beloved pets. How dare you, take advantage of pet owners the way that you do!
By the way, my pet is much better now & NO THANKS to you. **Middle finger up to you**
Very disappointed! Very expressive 15 minutes vet visit over $300. To tell me to take my dog to another vet for a surgery or she would die. Seems they care more about money that animals!
I will never take another pet to this place the staff was rude and inconsiderate and My vet recommended this place even sent the records down and still had to wait over 45 minutes to be seen for being an emergency vet they have no compassion or concerns. ZERO stars
I cannot express my gratitude for the staff and Dr. 's here. We needed to put down an old family cat unexpectedly, and every step of the process was met with patience, knowledge, empathy, and understanding. They were wonderful with her. I hope to never have to revisit in a similar situation, but in case we have to, I'm so glad they are there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Our dog Gizmo broke his paw. All 4 bones! Dr Goodrich and staff were very friendly. They worked very well with Gizmo. Dr. Goodrich listened to all of our concerns about surgery and we worked together as a team on the treatment plan. Very satisfied with A-vets.
Memorial Day weekend and my Dandie Dinmont Terrier (Gracie) starts bleeding from groin region.great! I took her to Banfield and they had NOTHING for me. I searched for emergency vets and found AVETS. AVETS staff did a wonderful job and VMD Burns was fantastic! Gracie had her urine checked, diagnosed UTI. Got meds and she's doing much better! $290.00 was well worth the visit, wait time was rather long, but they were a little understaffed for holiday weekend. I still highly recommend.
First off - it is indeed expensive (it’s $146 for an initial exam - be prepared to spend probably about $300+), however, they were very helpful and got my dog in and taken care of within an hour. They give you notes on the appointment & aftercare advice with your discharge papers. Grateful that they are open 24 hours!
I walked in with my cat that was in respiratory distress they took her back and were worried about getting paid more then comforting Me over my companion, this is what was said to me “ we need to make sure you have enough money or we are going to stop trying to save your pet “, she died either way and the bill was 280.00, the desk staff was rude and made the point of worrying about the bill then being a human being and compassionate
This place is all about money, the vet was very rude and didn't want to answer our questions. Once we declined the xrays and said we would wait to go see our vet on Monday, she was in a hurry to get us out the door, I certainly WILL NOT EVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND any to there pet here.
Can't give a zero star. Great place to take your pet if you want it to die. Specialize in changing records. Let's be honest.any common person knows you don't give narcotics during severe impacted dehydration and constipation. If you enjoy handing over thousands of dollars and your pet leaving way worse than he or she arrived, call today. Seriously though. I can name a few names who need licenses revoked. Stay away.
Vet claims to have a “24 hour medical service”. The person who answered the phone at 1am refused to offer help, and basically hung up the phone. They’re the only vet in a 2 hour drive that has a 24 hour service and they refused to see my dog.
We love AVETS! Any ER facility will be expensive.don't judge their cost based on your lack of knowledge. Pets cost money, they get sick, be prepared for it. It isn't their fault. All the doctors saved my dogs life. That alone is worth EVERY PENNY!
