AWSOM Animal Shelter, Stroudsburg PA

Went to see if there were any cats which would work out for a friend. On line site said it opened at 10, apon arriving we were not allowed in to see any cats, but instead given an application with many pages, both front and back. Could have saved a lot of time by not filling out paperwork. Probably less paperwork to adopt a child. My question is, "Isn't seeing an animal one of the first things that should be concidered when adopting? "

Went to see a dog we saw online. Lady who answered the door was very rude - told us we need an approved application on file and an appointment to even see any animals. Also applications are only valid for 6 months. I feel bad for the animals - they are making it really hard for the animals to be adopted!

Absolutely DISGUSTING with how you people choose to communicate and treat people. This is why so many people would rather go to pet shops then places like this

Most unprofessional people I’ve ever had to deal with, especially Bryan. He is obnoxious, rude, falls in the parking lot because he couldn’t handle a large dog! This is the best you have? Very sad! Also felt the obvious discrimination against my disabled child! This is criminal.literally.

Great staff who are courteous & helpful.
The pet areas are clean from what I saw.
Parking is awful but if you want a pet or Vet services then by all means GO!

2 stars for a couple of reasons, internet says open, but don't let you in to see cats inorder to know if there is one you would like to adopt. (isn't that the first step in desiding if you wish to adopt?) Instead you have to fill out many double sided pages of an application form. Adopting a child might be easier, lol. Watched many prospective adopters leave when given the forms or not even taking a form from whomever came to the door. So in retrospect traveled to the no kill shelter in Easton, application guick and easy, where taken in by a tech. Who then helped choose the right cat which had the temperament which we were looking for.

Caring and concerned people who truly want the animals who are adopted to go to great and loving homes lop

Funny how only people who were rejected or denied due to dogs not getting along make negative comments.you didn't meet the requirement to adopt an animal.move on.crying doesnt help

I had a wonderful experience there and I would recommend to anyone. I met a wonderful woman there and I believe she was angel sent from heaven.

The nicest shelter and veterares care I ever saw my son dog had a tumor the size of a football they removed it when no other veterares would touch it what a great team of doctors and staff

They saved my dogs life and did it while i was broke cause the dog could have died.they helped me with payment arrangements.

I got my cat nutmeg 2 years ago from Awsom! Wonderful people and so wonderful with the animals. Thank you everyone at awsom who helped me find my kitty who I love so every much.

I love this place! The people that work there and the vets are awesome just like their name. Oscar loved everyone there! A#1 in my book!

So because I have a dog that is like my son but still has his balls I was told I couldnt adopt a new cat and was treated like I was the enemy. My dog is cared for and spoiled rotten and this shelter just denied a kitten a great future home with a great family. The lady was rude to me the minute I stepped out of the car and wasnt even going to let me walk my dog, she told me to leave hom in the car when he had all his shots and is better behaved then most dogs I know. Horrible experience.

This is a nice shelter. They never rush you along allowing you to visit for however long you need to as you decide if you want to adopt or just observe the behavior of the dogs and cats.

Love the staff at awesom, the go above and beyond helping animal's in need. Shelter dogs are taken for long walks and some go for hiking. The staff loves and cares for these animals as if they were their own.

I brought my dog to AWSOM Vet for teeth cleaning, advertised for 175.dollar's on there website. Turns out to be, 'very misleading'' -They tell you that you have to make an appointment and bring animal in so they can see it first. Ok -so add office visit charge 30-35 dollars, for 5 minute quick look. Then they tell you that all this stuff is extra- blood work costs 50 to 100 dollars and tooth extraction's and med's. I added it up and It was over 430 dollar's for my dog.and could be more, depending on how many teeth they need to pull. What happened to 175 dollars cleaning? It dont exist, its a scam! I Spent 75.dollars on office visit and med's, for nothing. Cause I was not thinking straight, I cant' afford it. This place is not AWSOM. My advice is change price of teeth cleaning on your list of services provided to over $400.and include everything. People don't want to be nickel and dimed to death! -thankyou

Saddest place you could ever go to. Pets in cages abandoned.adopt and get them out of there. I would take them all if I could.

I love that you pay n it goes back in too there place for the other animals that does not have a good home

The volunteers and staff are all amazing and helpful. The place is amazing and I love how much everyone cares for the well being of the animals and visitors!
