Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown / The Notary Hotel, Autograph Collection reviews
26What a find, beautiful historic building, lovely room, so comfortable, great location close to so many things to do. Look forward to staying again. Highly recommend.
This place is incredible. Super nice. The rooms and lobby have a great aesthetic. Staff are really friendly, tip the maid and valet. Staff upgraded our room to a corner suite. Not sure why but I definitely appreciated it.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful! From the service at the front desk to the end of our stay was amazing. The woman at the front desk was very polite and gave us the history of the hotel, which was fun to learn. The room we stayed in was clean (taking covid precautions seriously), had great decor, and you could see the Ben Franklin Bridge. Everything was absolutely stunning. I would definitely stay here again. The only downfall was that it took a *long* time to find a working ice machine. We luckily decided to try out the 7th floor and thankfully the ice machine was working!
PS: You will need your key each time you use the elevator.
Some of the best service I've had in a Marriott. Proactive upgrade, beautifully designed room, and perfect location 1 block from City Hall.
Everything from the service to the unique decor is always great. It has an industrial, creative and artist feel from the moment you walk it, making it a very cozy hotel with romantic undertones. The diverse rooms are kept pristine clean. I have never had an issue at this hotel. I’m upset I didn’t have to the best pictures for this review, however, they will come because I will be staying again in the future.
Update: I did end up finding one picture of one of my previous stays!
I stayed there with a wedding group on new year's Eve. We had a whole block. It wasn't to expensive, they took care of parking they have a great location. Other than that it was a pretty typical Marriott. The staff were a bit disorganized but it was new year's and the mummers parade closed the whole town square.
. They didn't even have somewhere to hang your face towel.not to mention that the sink is outside of the bathroom (!) so everyone in the room can see and hear you. I think, it's a part of the concept interior designer has! Thankfully, is downtown and everything is around!
The rooms and staff are great! Only complaint is out of the 3 years we've been staying at the Courtyard New Year's Day for the Mummer parade, we have never been able to get into our room at or before the designated check-in time. This past time we waited 30 minutes past the check-in time until our room was ready.
Although, we enjoyed our stay and found the staff very friendly and helpful, we were disappointed to learn of the pool closing. We stayed here 3 years ago and returned because of the pool. I hope they decide to reopen it.
If you don't have a car, the rating should be at least a star higher, but if you have a car, it is FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS A DAY for them to park your car. I almost asked to see a gun, because if I am going to be robbed, I would like to see a gun. The sign says $45 a day, but there is a $10+ "valet tax" added so it is $55/day. I know it's in the 5th largest US city, and didn't expect free parking, but you'd think they'd give guests a break.
Building is an architectural masterpiece - be sure to look up at ceiling in main foyer.
Staff is excellent - friendly and helpful.
Rooms quiet and clean and not badly priced.
Why do all hotels only give one comforter that is too heavy and bakes you? We talked in the morning - we all came to same conclusion - have to take the comforter off to sleep - we ended taking comforter off, using the 2 sheets wasn't quite enough, so laid 2 bath towels over sheets and that worked, others did 2 sheets and turned up room heat

A few blocks away is a Holiday Inn.
Room rate slightly cheaper.
FREE BREAKFAST
Parking $30 a day
Being a downtown property the entrance is very congested, the rooms are very small. The restaurant staff were very helpful and professional.
It is an extremely nice court yard. Grest design and nice rooms. Parking is a ton so shop around a little. Otherwise great
The hotel amenities and quality of the room was superb. Only downside was $45.00 per night to park (also forced to valet).
I stayed in this hotel for a few days for a conference in Philadelphia. This is a very interesting 1920s-1930s building (I couldn't find much information about it) with a lot of original features inside. Room was comfortable, I appreciated the iPod dock!
Staff was friendly, room was clean, only issue was ice machines on our floor not working when we arrived but this issue was taken care of right away.
Its a great hotel right opposite the city hall. Its easy to get to downtown from here as well. Lot of options to eat and things to do. The room itself is really good and the staff courteous.
Loved my experience at this hotel. I just reached gold status and was upgraded to a very nice room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was modern and clean. Will definitely be staying at this location again.
Great rooms, friendly staff and it's located right in the heart of Philadelphia. Stayed here for a night for work and it was a great place to stay at a reasonable price.
Breakfast was a bit expensive and so was computer time, but the free WiFi worked, so that kind of evened out.
Old world classiness in the lobby, but the rooms could use a bit of an update. The views are unimpressive at the lower floors, but probably quite nice higher up. Purple monkey dishwasher.
