Dog Town reviews
32Dog town treats their doggo residences like gold! The adoption process was thorough, yet easy, and the staff was amazing. Alex and kelly spent a significant amount of time with us, answering every single question with grace. I am one of quite a few family members who've adopted through DTR and shop at theirs stores, and we all drive a good distance to do so. I cannot thank these guys enough!
I wanted to see about a dog my brother Inlaw told me about as I walked in I was expecting to see the animals but I saw another opened door as I started to walk in the hallway I quickly realized I probably was not suppose to be in there so I walked out to be confronted with an employee who did not have a mask on but I had mine on so I proceeded to ask about seeing the dog my brother I law told me about she said I can’t see it the dogs are sleeping for the night so I tried to ask questions about it she told me to look on the website I asked what other dogs did they have she again said rudely to go look on the website so I asked when can I see the dogs like a timeframe she again rudely replied it’s on the website and then said I can’t without an application I said I need an application just to look at the dogs she was ignorant at this point and said it’s on the website so as we were walking out she rudely says Have a good night with straight attitude I called to talk to the manager I tried to explain my experience and she was just making excuses for her help and basically cutting me off saying well they were tired the are Volunteers so I got angry and said I’m obviously Wasting my time as she had no interest in hearing about the way I was treated or did she care so I hung up letting her know I was giving a bad review then she called me back to fight about it with me I have never experienced anything like this I’m a business owner as it my brother Inlaw and never would I leave such a horrible review but seriously no matter what never makeup excuses or do you fight with a customer just because you have zero interest in a complaint about your store or helpers not calling them an employee because they are volunteering this is a awful place and I’d be afraid of how the would be treating the animals if they can’t be nice to customers I will be following up with the owner or a higher person because again I have never been treated so poorly in my life! I should have read the reviews befor stepping foot in there
Horrible experience
My girl was in full blown phenomena when we got her at age 3months from Dogtown. Thank God she's happy and healthy but they suck
Normally, I'm not one to leave poor reviews but to me, this instance warrants such. Wish I would have read these other reviews before applying for a dog here.
If you're applying to adopt a dog from here please note the following:
*Volunteers don't actually call your references, they just text people with no way of verifying their identity. At no time did anyone ever pick up the phone and speak to me. (So if you don't have any good references just download TextNow and get a couple numbers and be your own reference. Not like they're gonna call, anyway)
*They request info from you then don't review it because "they don't have unlimited time to dig for it"
*The owner (or whoever emails from rescue's company email) is rude and unprofessional and tries to blame their incompetence on how busy they are caring for the dogs.
* Adoption prices are way too high for the service & the area
Thankfully, I was able to adopt a beautiful pup through another rescue from whom I received personalized communication, a speedy application process and friendly treatment.
Call me "disgruntled", call me whatcha like. The process to adopt a dog is exhausting and intrusive with even the most professional rescue, I'm just letting potential adopters know what they're getting themselves into with this particular organization.
They are undependable. I wanted to adopt a particular dog, I submitted an application, they never responded to my application at all! Even if I was denied they still should have notified myself!
I love Dog Town! The staff and owner are wonderful. I rescued a wonderful pup from them who is my entire world. The adoption process was very quick and easy! They helped us to find the perfect match for us, and boy were they right!
My BB loved it there so much we let her go back for Daycare. She is treated like a princess in the daycare and loves playing with Alex and Jac. I also frequently go to the New Britain location because they are up the street from my house and my dogs love getting to shop around in there. We always get a warm welcome from the staff and are so helpful!
I've never looked to adopt from dogtown. The reason i gave such a low review is that for their daycare all of the dogs are thrown together in one room and every time i have gone there have been a ton of dogs with just one employee sitting around not even paying attention to them. It is also located on 309 a super busy road and they walk the dogs in areas that are not fenced in. It would be very easy for a dog to get away. My friend boarded her dog here which was already a very nervous dog. They were walking her outside and the employee must have dropped the leash and she took off. It took them days to find her.
My pampered pooch has been groomed by Mary Kate for years. She is wonderful and kind to my little fur baby.
My dog told me it was pretty cool and the pretzels were sublime. 11/10 would recommend for any snake owner.
My French Bulldogs have been going to Dog Town for years for both overnight boarding and doggie daycare. Everyone is so nice and they always remember our dogs. The dogs always come home exhausted from happily playing all day long. They took especially good care of my handicapped Frenchcie, taking extra steps to ensure he was comfortable and clean (he would sometimes have accidents due to his handicap).
They do temperament testing before accepting a reservation, so you know your pups are going somewhere safe. There is a large dog room and a small dog room (both quite large, so plenty of room to play - or rest, if they're tired out).
Overall a great place for sending your dogs, whether just for the day or overnight. Prices are reasonable for the level of care/interaction you're getting for your dogs (they're not locked in a kennel all day long - they are actually being cared for, which is great).
Originally I was very pleased, the groomer even came in during a snow storm because she didn’t want me to have to reschedule. We were mostly pleased with the way she looked and the price is reasonable. However, each time we went we got disciplined by the groomer for her either being too dirty or being matted. Our dog plays outside in fields with her puppy cousins and gets bathed weekly. No matter how hard we tried to brush her or get her up to the groomers standards we always were told something else was wrong. The groomer would also put our dog in her car and drive her to the front to wait for us to pick her up which we never approved. After now trying a different groomer we realized this is not the norm and that we don’t need to be shamed every time we go to the groomer.
Cute little shop with kennels in the back for rescue dogs available for adoption. Staff was friendly but the store could use a little bit of tidying up. There was a momma dog and her puppies on the store floor in a fenced in area but creating a bit of a smell in the front of the store. I appreciate the concept of having a pet adoption at the store but I think they need a lot more space to take proper care of both the retail items and the animals.
My dogs love going to Dog Town. For many years we have brought them there for boarding for our vacations, and when we had personal emergencies. We have used them for daycare and grooming too, with no issues. And the store is very nice! The staff has always given a lot of attention to the dogs, and honored our requests. We appreciate Jennifer and the staff at Dog Town. Thanks for being there for us!
Absurd. I’ve been coming to this place since it opened and went back specifically while in town. I ordered good and arrived at 11pm on the dot. The staff refused to talk to me and another couple standing outside said they were just kicked out. They proceeded to laugh while holding my food through the window. Clearly has gone downhill from the days when the owner would serve you. I’ll never come back again! Extremely extremely whack from all angles
Lovely staff. The animals are loved and cared for wonderfully here. If you are looking for a pet, Dogtown is the place to go. They ensure each animal is ready for adoption and match families with the right dog. There is an application process, but well worth it!
Very knowledgeable staff, our adoptions went smooth and we could not be happier with our forever pet. THANK YOU DOG TOWN.
Great rescue dogs. I rescued 2 dogs from them. A few years ago I rescued a senior dog. She died in the fall. This passed January I rescued a little fellow who is so cute and sweet.
Great rescue. Very friendly employees. I like to stop in and pet the pups and cats with my grandchildren.
This place is awful and the review before mine is ironically speaking about jenn.the worker you can see responded to the user pretending she has no idea who was working that day. You would think she would know she’s the blonde woman with the attitude everyone complains about in reviews. If you follow these reviews long enough take note multiple users have mentioned jenn and the issues shes caused with her customers. The issues vary and seem legit. I immediately knew who the other post was referring to since I’ve had nasty run-ins with Jenn as well. The staff is awful (mostly jenn but other staff isn’t much better) place is dirty, and they post fake reviews on their own page. They are dishonest and rude. Save yourself the trouble and find another place for dog sitting and to adopt. This business has awful customer service and shows no sign of putting forth effort to make it better.
It is the most interactive dog, and cat palace, I have seen. However, there are rules, but it's worth it.
