Edgar Allan Poe House reviews
26Small, but awesome. You get a nice overview of Poe's life and work. One of my favorite places in Philly. There are a few interactive exhibits for little people. Managed by the National Park Service, the Rangers are always friendly and knowledgeable, but the hours are limited. Check before you go, and remember they close for lunch.
His house is empty save for some scraps of poetry, a fitting tribute to a man who has been a slate for projection of so many thoughts.the adjoining house has exhibits and a video primer of the man.
This was our favorite stop on our vacation to Philadelphia and Washington DC. Rather than a restored home, this is just the shell of the house he lived in. You can imagine Eddie walking through the rooms and walking up the stairs. The interactive exhibits are fun, but the highlight of the tour was the Ranger's telling of "The Black Cat" by Poe in the basement.creepy.
This was a great little stop in my trip to Philly. The rooms are not restored and you can walk through out the whole house (including the basement), which was actually really cool. Very neat to walk through!
Love off the beaten track attractions. Very knowledgeable guides who offered lot of additional information.
It's free! This is the place where Edgar Allen wrote The Raven. It's also close to Silk City if you want somewhere cool to get a bite to eat.
