Giant Eagle Supermarket reviews
33I live nearby, so I shop here a lot. It's not the best Giant Eagle. It doesn't have a huge selection of items and it seems like they are slow to restock shelves. It has a convenient location and I prefer it to Aldi's, but I shop elsewhere when I get the chance.
Went to the 'Iggle' right at 6: 30 am today. Nice and quiet. There was stocking going on but there was still ample items on the shelves and only one thing I couldn't find. Got in and out at the register. I still do most of my shopping at Aldi's - their cost and quality are not matched at GE. Therr just a few specific things that we can only get at GE.
I quit going here after so many bad experiences. I have recently returned to grab a few things real quick. I was so surprised at the update to the entire store. I couldn't believe I was at the same place. I love the little diner/beer section. It now has a great atmosphere and was actually pleasant to shop there. Self checkouts are always a plus. They have a huge selection everywhere. I will return.
Now that they've finished the renovations at the Southside store it's an amazing place to shop! Great selection and no more ridiculously long check out lines
This store is RIDICULOUS! Not clean enough. Clientele is way to out of control! This is the only Giant Eagle that I've been to where the need a cop or security on the premises!
This giant eagle has the newest shopping carts. No galloping when that are cockeyed. No thruhuhuhmping through the store, running into things or losing control of your cart.
I moved to pittsburgh for college, now that I finished I come and visit quite often. I was in the giant eagle last Friday night while visiting a friend and my boyfriend and I went to check out and we had an older thin lady with white curly hair and because we asked her to get cigarettes for us she goes "really? ! You can go kill yoirself". I WAS IN SHOCK, my boyfriend being nice and brushing this off continued to ask her hour her day was and she ignored us! The entire check out experience does not make me want to return.
The staff is friendly and helpful. They always smile and say hello. Great selection of produce and foods.
Surprisingly this GE is pretty nice. Some of the people you find there are sketchy but it's Southside so it is expected to an extent. The Pharmacy had some issues during my visit. When dropping my prescription off to wait they gave me a 20 minute estimate. In there defence it did seem as if they were busy. It took literally 1 hour 20 minutes to get one script filled. Even with how busy they were it was frustrating to wait that long.
This location has a good selection of foods, a large parking lot, and doesn't run out of carts/buggies. However, the checkout is always slow! Self checkout lines are a bit faster but there are a limited number available and most of them don't have much space for your groceries after they're scanned.
What can I say? It's no Wegman's. Not impressed. Just an average box grocery store with inflated prices. Anything that even slightly deviates from the standard american diet is marked up to an incredible and inflated price. Capers? 5 dollars. Olives? 5-9 dollars. Kim chee? 9 dollars. If you need a few hot peppers, your only option is to purchase a bag of a few mixed peppers for about 3 dollars. If you're buying white bread, jelly, meat etc then I'm sure its fine, but anything else is better purchased elsewhere. There is a good deal on Giant Eagle dried food like chickpeas, beans, and peas for around 1.29. There is always a long and drawn out check out process due to lines, and the self checkout only being open to those carrying membership cards? In general you will save going to Aldis around the corner.
Try to order fruit tray & talked to a guy named Matt. Had to practically drain info from him about the fruit tray. Didn't take my name when I ordered had to call back again & his attitude voice just missed me off. He needs lessons in customer service! Ill never order another fruit tray from this place again!
This is a clean and well stocked market.
I could just about find anything I need here.
The only issue I have is that the arrangement of products is a little different than the usual giant eagle markets that I gotten used to.
One noticable plus I saw is the brand new shopping cards this market has.
