Should of stayed overnight in a tent.
Arrived about 4: 30 p.m. Several rooms still being cleaned. I can understand the job shortage, but rooms with reserved arrival times, should be cleaned before that arrival time. Holiday Inn staff, was courteous to give us a different room.
Once in the room, we immediately noticed that kids were running & jumping around on the floor above us. We had our optimism, about that room.
Went out to dinner (Murphy's Hideaway, an excellent restaurant), and returned about 8p.m. Kids still jumping & running around in the room above us. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve p.m, unruly children still running & hopping around, at times shaking our room below. We were hoping for a five a.m. Departure (Lots to do with a one day visit). Did we depart at 5 a.m? Nope! We departed at 9 a.m. And after a 400 mile drive, we were exhausted. We visited Jim Thorpe, PA for a few hours, and returned home, to the silence of our own home.
The continental breakfast was hot and great tasting, but our concentration was a-lot of coffee, that morning.
Did we complain to the front desk? You bet! About eleven p.m. "Oh. We'll take care of that right away. Very sorry sir. " Either they did not bother or the adolescent parents did not care (or spoke no English, as is typical in this country lately). Even at 3 a.m, the kids were jumping outta bed & running back & forth probably to the bathroom. We've had quieter nights in the woods with only a sleeping bag.
Holiday Inn, needs-to-be-perfectly-clear with guests that that "Quiet time, " is after 9 p.m. More IMPORTANTLY, those with children, should be confined to the first floor.mandatory. We usually stay at a Marriott, during the last seven years of retirement travel. We'll be avoiding Holiday Inn, for the remainder of our retirement.
