Montgomery County SPCA reviews
36You need an appointment to go rescue a dog? Completely absurd.management was very disrespectful and unhelpful.this location is awful, its like i was rushed to leave the premises. DO NOT COME HERE!
Wish I could give 0 stars! They allowed me to adopt a cat that at the time I didn’t realize (I’m sure they realized) but has many medical issues and I have had him less than a mouth! They allowed me to adopt him and he has feline stomatitis and I’ve had him less than a mouth! They failed to fully examine him. I’m not happy. This should have been caught by them pre adoption and now my sweet cat is in pain and has to have every tooth extracted. They also gave me meds for him without them seeing him. I called a few days after his adoption saying he was displaying weird symptoms and they just said “oh come pick up doxycycline for him”. Don’t you have to examine before treating? Than when I called about my concerns they acted like they did not care because I am sure they don’t.
I would like to share my review from just a phone call to the Manager of the facility. I filled out an application and called to follow up on my application because I noticed the picture of the pup I was interested in was taken down. Back in 2016 I was asked by a friend in desperation if I knew anyone who wanted a 17 week old pit. This poor baby was taken away from bad people who kicked him, broke his tail and left him outside for days. I agreed to take him and planned to find him a home because I rented and already had one dog, I didn’t want to upset my landlord having another. I couldn’t find anyone that I knew or trusted enough to give him a home so I took him to the Abington SPCA thinking he’s a pup and someone will adopt him quickly. I cried the entire way home and called back the SPCA right away to go pick him back up an hour later and he has been with me ever since. My point to the story is when I called today to talk to the manager he was rude and said I was definitely not going to be considered because I surrendered my dog in 2016! I was in tears after I was treated like I was a horrible person and made to feel like I was being marked as animal abuser or like I didn’t deserve to have animals! The Abington facility never put in their nifty little computer that I returned the same day an hour later to get the pup back out and took him home. The same pup is 6 years old now and the best dog I ever had. Maybe people should be given a chance to explain the situation before being RED FLAGGED from ever adopting and giving a loving home to animals. These people rather give them to animal abusers, people who only take them as bait dogs, euthanize them or to people who dump them because they can’t handle having an animal!
Whoever handles the reviews for this SPCA is very good at their job and informing clients that they've reviewed the wrong SPCA. My apologies
The staff are friendly and helpful, would appreciate it more if you were able to tour the shelter n view the animals
Someone found my cat tried to get his shots & neutered & they found his chip in him that he belonged to me they emailed me & we were reunited thank you Mont. County spca for calling me & holding him until I got there.
I completed an application online 2 weeks ago and never received any correspondence in reference to the kittens I were interested in adopting, finally I call to follow up and was told I need to call back on Tuesday (it’s Saturday) to speak to a manager about my application.it shouldn’t be this hard to adopt a kitten. In light of everything that’s going on everyone should be able to pull up an application and explain to me why I haven’t heard anything. It’s not going to sound any different coming out of the managers mouth.
It's a guy manger there he is so rude, if he's rude to the plubic I know he's mean to them animals. It's complaints about him in these comments why is he still there. Upper management needs to do something about him.
The staff was so extremely helpful and sympathetic to my distress of having to surrender my cat of 16 years. They were courteous, kind and very patient with me
They find homes for animals that are unwanted they all get five stars and I know someone that works there and she loves animals unfortunately sometimes they have to put them down
Our family had recently lost our 2 beloved female guinea pig sisters within days of each other. They were 5 1/2 years old & had been with us since they were 2 months old. We were looking to adopt 2 young female guinea pigs & I luckily found 2 guinea pig sisters who are 4 months old at this SPCA in Conshohocken. We adopted them & brought them home on 4/18/20 & we couldn't be happier! They are sweet, adorable, appear to have been well cared for & are very friendly. We want to thank the people at this SPCA for making the adoption process easy for us!
I applied to adopt a dog from here about 2 weeks ago, did the application called everyday for a week and a half and still no word. If the application was denied I would have been okay with it, however the receptionist just kept saying that the manager is the only one who decides. Its absolutely ridiculous that a poor dog has to sit there for over a month (is still in the system) when he could be in a loving home.
The people working there are very knowledgeable and nice, if they don't know the answer they will try to guide you to someone that knows
Me and my son went to couple different shelter to look for his first cat. Other adoption agency make the adoption process too complicated. SPCA is simple and straight forward. We got our kitten the same day! We got both our cats here. Happy with the low fee and quick service!
This place sucks. They "take applications" for adoptions then take forever to pick someone. They act like they don't want people to adopt
I honestly think they hold animals especially the more desirable ones aside for "select" people
Friendly and helpful, place was clean. Little rough going through on a visit, so many animals need help.
Out of all the pet adoption agencies l have been to, M. C. S. P. C. A.is the most well kept facilities l have visited, the staff members are kind and very courteous to all who are intrested in adopting an animal, the care and professional way they handle the animals is outstanding by far.on a scale of 1-10.l rate them a perfect 10.the happiness of our adopted pet Noah speaks for itself.
To me, this is the saddest place on earth. Walking thru, looking at all the animals where their humans have failed them. The SPCA does their best to keep the animals safe, clean and happy. The employees are nice and helpful. I felt that they told us the truth about every animal we inquired about. We were there to adopt and the process went smoothly. I just wish more people would adopt.
Extremely kind staff, animals look well kept. Staff doesn't hassle you at all when you want to spend time with animals.
I came with my dad to see if there were kittens I there weren't any I was really sad but it was a very nice place
