MyEyeDr. reviews
26 My experience was alright, but I did see several causes for concern. First, I should say that everyone who interacted with me was polite and professional, albeit a little too salesman-like for my tastes. I waited about 15 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back, but after that everything moved quickly. The doctor concluded that I should get a new pair of glasses without considering my opinion much, especially given that I had come in for contacts. He and I had settled on getting a small amount of daily contacts, but when I went to check out, the receptionist said, "So a whole year's supply will be $460. " Um, no. I was never coming for a full year's supply. Once I corrected her, she politely checked me out for just my co-pay.
However, while I was waiting, I saw a salesperson be openly rude to a man who balked at a $400+ price tag for a pair of glasses. She said she would give him his prescription but that he would have to wait around until a doctor was free to sign it and that there was no way he would be able to get what he wanted elsewhere for less. She was clearly upset with him and no longer willing to be helpful. In a world where most of us can stretch a pair of glasses for a while or wear contacts instead and not everyone has $400 for non-necessities, there's really no excuse for this sort of treatment.
All things considered, if you know what you want (and what you don't), this will probably be an ok option for you. I suggest being confident of your wishes and knowing the ins and outs of your insurance before you go. Don't let them push you around!
I was here in January for a contact lens appointment. After the appointment was told I would have a trail pair in a week, and then could order new contacts after I returned for a fitting.
Multiple weeks later my trail pair finally arrived. Months after receiving them I finally called to see about ordering more contacts. I was told that my insurance didn't cover my last visit, and that I couldn't order new contacts until I paid the balance.which had been due for 6 months without a single call or bill being sent to me!
The communication with this office has been poor right from the beginning, and the phone conversations wasn't any better. There was no sense of concern that this happened, just a quick observation that the person I was talking to wasn't the office manager at the time of my first visit.
I'll be moving to an optometrist that my insurance will work with after this regardless - but I wouldn't recommend MyEyeDr to anyone, even if they did have coverage.
Appointment was May 22, glasses were due in June 2nd. Still waiting on glasses- (now week 3 heading to 4). No courtesy calls to explain delays, I had to call. No apology, they are instead blaming MY insurance company. Glasses failed 2 inspections apparently, but I was not called once. They took my money SUPER fast though. Funny huh?
Ps. Still waiting on glasses, will be calling in to my insurance Monday
The staff is great, A pleasure to deal with got glasses way faster then before. Thanks again Mandy
Two of the ladies were extremely rude. We didn't receive any help and they made us feel stupid when we asked for help. That's the opposite of doing your job. If I could give a negative star rating I would.
